@RTerrence3 жыл бұрын
@@WayneTheBoatGuy The problem with that is auto route assumes mean low water so you only get routes based on low tide. Where I take my boat there are short cuts I can take at high tide. It would be better if the app did its calculations based on what the tide was at any given time.

is the depth difference with your boat and app because the app is subtracting your boats draft? seems like that could be the difference between them.
@WayneTheBoatGuy3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's that sophisticated. The data they display is from the nautical charts. And I think the charts lean towards showing depths at low tide. So if the paper chart reads 6 ft so will the app.
@woodskid4ever Жыл бұрын
Curious, 12 ft of water shown by boat depth-sounder/ transducer, yet app says 10 ft. Isn’t the depth found under boat by the transducer more reflective of tide than app.

The app uses published depth chart data and not actual measurements. The chart data is based on low tide.

@tg30262 жыл бұрын
I don't believe you should rely solely on one navigational device, because the ICW is a living breathing system that is consistently being dragged by the Army Corps of Engineers where build up is. Everyday tidal water in and out you are bound to have shallow water, debris like logs, that are not captured on any device. Use of a spotter is very important. Please don't devalue a great tool. Thanks, didn't mean to be so long winded. Much respect. ❣
