In this video we turn a 20 inch diameter pipe into a backyard smoker/charcoal grill combo build. This is our 5th smoker build on this channel and by far our favorite. We walk you through step by step how it was built and show us cooking on it for the first time. Huge shoutout to Brunt Workwear for sending us some new boots to use in the garage.

Holy smokes. That smoker will outlive some people. You guys are blessed to have the knowledge and expertise to use all those tools. With all those man hours that smoker should cost my guess 10,000😮. Amaizing build!

Looks great, 1 super mini thing I'd do is flip the ball valve around so when it's open you can hang your bucket on the handle and it's down to close.

One of the most amazing smoker-grill builds on yt. Great job guys!! Thanks for the amazing content. The UV when welding can cause skin cancer on the hands (I've seen it happen) so pleeease use gloves! Take care guys.

Just ran across you guys, I’m really impressed with your skills, even down to the five gallon bucket as a welding seat. I love seeing stick welders versus wire and making do with what you have. That’s one heck of a garage shop. Good job men.

SS griddle is cool but a well seasoned plate would be just as good. It will stay looking nicer for a longer time. SS griddle is a pain to maintain. Over all a great design and keep up the hard work! Love the videos.

Good build. However. for a smoker it is essential that you can access the food on the grates. Grate slides on the top and bottom is a game changer. it lets you access the meat and spay and rotate. let the bottom and top grates slide out for access

Try 6011 or 6010 welding rod, better penetration. Works out of position and is better on dirty or rusty metals.

@@fathersondiygarage3580if you haven't ran 6010 or 6011 practice on something first before you weld on your project they hard to run about one of the best welding rods you can get is 7018 all so if you still have the lincoln buzz box if it is ac only 6010 will not work on your welder you will use have to use 6011 because 6010 is dc only and 6011 is ac or dc ps love your videos

Where do you find these pipes?

Looks amazing. I'm curious, when buying second hand steel, how do you make sure the pipe or whatever steel piece has not been used in something that could in some way make it not food safe? Or how do you make sure the steel hasn't a coating that could be not food safe? I ask because buying second hand seems tempting but what makes me doubt about this idea is related to food safe.
@fathersondiygarage3580
@fathersondiygarage3580 8 ай бұрын
When we find the steel we ask the owner what it was previously used for. When we get it home, we pressure wash and sand blast it. Definitely a lot cheaper than buying the steel brand new but it does require a lot more work.

Ha, to buy that much steel, to build something like that here in the UK, you'd need to take out a second mortgage. That would cost an arm and a leg 😅, good luck with that.
