I know they aren’t expensive but I have had my Abu-Garcia BlackMax for three years, it still cast like a new reel. I have landed some large catfish without any problems. If you take care of your reel they will last a long time

May be showing my age but I'm a fan of the Abu Garcia round reels. C4 C3 have been using the same reels for over 15 years give a bit of oil and they just work.

Just as others have mentioned, it does need a dab of oil before you use it kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e - put a few drops in through the convenient screw cap and you are good to go! I have fished several weeks with a couple of these, and I will be getting more in the future. I put these against my Abu Garcia Pro Max reel, and they actually perform a bit better than the Abu with some of my lighter cranks, and definitely just as good with the rest of my lures. My Abu is a bit more low profile and fits my hand better, but these are definitely not bad at all. You can almost get 3 of these for the price of my Pro Max. My only complaint is the thumb bar sits pretty high compared to my traditional profile Abu. Bring that thumb bar down a little and I’m sold on these all day long.

Daiwa Zillion SV is one of the best reels I’ve ever owned. Shimano Metanium is another excellent reel I have. Shimano Curado dc is the biggest pos reel I own. The cheapest reels that I have I really like are the Lews Custom pro and Daiwa Tatula SV both are great.

Mid 90's Shimano Curado Batam, still the only reel I use. Still catching fish, never needed cleaning, oiling, or repairing. Still casts 100-120' no problem with very minimal effort. Even on my heavy action rod. Japanese precision in the mid 90's was unprecedented. Those reels are a direct reflection of it. Look'em up

Sir Okuma Sarano should have been among them. Sarano is very good for long cast and smoothness. I had better experience with okuma Sarano then abu black max4.

The new Okuma X series 100 looks pretty promising. Weighs 5.6 oz and yet has 24 pounds of drag. So that appears to be lighter than any of these and ties with one reel for the highest drag. Maybe do a 2024 edition of this video?

Black max is the best cheap reel but far from the best reel. If I only had 40 bucks thats what I would get. Totally different class than a Curado K. Kast King isn't one of the 10 best things fall apart. Shimano Diawa,Abu Garcia, and Lew's consistently make the best reels.

The piscifun torrent is the best budget reel the only thing the black max wins on is spool capacity you get an extra 20ish yards of line that's it otherwise piscifun torrent wins hands down and I've owned 2 black max and 1 piscifun and the torrent is still going strong

#8 is just 52$ In Canada. looking at it right now 64$ they have a 24 max drag one. Can't decide will be my first bait castor haha

I have one Rocket 🚀 and i hafta admit it is probably my favorite one out of my line up but also is one of the most expensive! That said though I also have a MGX and it sucks and cost more than the rocket. 🤔
