It’s great to see a discussion about a PC build that has nothing to do with gaming. Too many of these YT personalities think that the only thing people do with their computers is waste time playing games. Now, if we can just find some classy, elegant, professional cases and dispense with the RGB rainbow barf.

Same. I used to be a die hard gamer. Was a manager of multiple different GameStop’s over the course of 6 years in the past. Gaming was in my blood, my identity. I still have shelves of (mostly free) statues and collectibles while working at GameStop. But I also bought tons of collectors editions of games I liked. I was a gamer in all the ways that mattered. But I’ve had the heart breaking epiphany that all of them, without exception, are skinner boxes and the only worthwhile way to spend time using PCs is by creating something useful, valueable or entertaining with them. Gaming is cool and stuff in its place, and I’m not knocking it completely. But to always focus on gaming sets a bad stereotype that PC enthusiasts are just gamers that don’t make anything worthwhile (bc face it, if you are gaming, you are not creating 99% of the time) creating is what matters in the end, we should focus on that. Gaming is like a super side point that barely matters at all in the grand scheme of things. All my opinion of course and no one asked for it. Just thinking it all through through commenting.

@@skahg4771 Great comments! As it happens, my son worked at The Stop (as they called it) for a year and a half in high school and all through his college years. He’s still a big gamer, but he’s not a crazy hardware enthusiast like most of us in these comments. (When he needs an upgrade, he comes to me to discuss it, gives me the money, and I buy/build for him. 🙄) He just likes to chill and enjoy his games for a bit at night after a long day of work. Like you, I too don’t dismiss games and have played my share over the decades. But I think that the big YT hardware channels do us a disservice by constantly focusing on games and blingy cases. There’s so much more to the world of computing than that.

it's honestly much easier than you think, it looks scary but it's not. it is literally just lego but expensive 😂 i built the current pc i am using now at around 11, and have upgraded it a lot over 4 years. the scariest one for me was the cpu but it really isn't that bad. everything just fits together nicely, making it simple and you'll be up and running within maybe an hour.

I took the plunge 20 years ago and haven't looked back. It's certainly easier to buy a system but particularly for higher end rigs, you can get a lot more bang for you buck with a self build. The more you make the easier it becomes...I just have to relearn many things when its time to build a new setup hence me watching this video.

@SinanTrance
@SinanTrance 2 жыл бұрын
If you're using music production software like Ableton, FLStudio or Logic, you're not requiring any intense graphics outputs. Therefore you should be specifically focusing on the motherboard, RAM and CPU. The higher your specs, the further it's going to all take you. And you can throw in an RTX3050/3060 if you're very occasionally going to be gaming or making video/graphical content. Probably look at the i5-12600 with 64GB RAM and a motherboard that supports TB4 is your best bet. If you can afford an i7-12700 or i9-12900 you'd go with those as music production software is typically CPU heavy.

The cl18 is faster? On those, yes; and the reason rests with the other timings on those kits. A 16-22-22- kit won't do any better than 18-22-22- because the timings r loose. cas latency alone is a poor indicator of speed with timings like that.

So, is it good to have non-k series such as 12600, 12700, 13700 with 3060 or 3060Ti with z690 for get extra SATA ports or to get B660 is enough for my purpose? Sir i have seen jarrods tech and hardware unboxed videos of 12700h and 12900h videos. Those CPU are on 10nm and still has same performance per watt compared to Apple m1 max 10 core CPU. 35 to 40 watt so same or better performance on Intel 12 gen. Intel is still on 10nm and equal or faster compared to Apple arm 5nm which is just insane. 13 gen still on 10nm plus and again 60% gain in performance in compression and decompression. 25% better video editing, overall upto 40% faster than 12 gen. 10nm is beating 7nm of amd and 5nm of Apple arm.

Do I loosen something from it? another question I thinking to use intel I7 12700 as my CPU rather than 12700K cause the different is the K version cost HK$3200 and without K cost HK$2500 or should I stick with your recommender . if you ask me why not i5 12600K because it cost HK$2400, I might as well use i7 .... the other part like GPU or PSU , I will be using your recommender list given. but for now i can't decide CPU and Motherboard yet .... could you help 😬😬 I hope i got to heard from you though what should i do ...

Hey not sure if It was this video or the other one I watched earlier but it was mentioned that the benefits of having a cpu with built in graphics are very beneficial when doing video editing is this true with ryzen as well or only with intel? I know I have been looking at building a system possibly with a ryzen 5600g since I was gonna start with no gpu and add one later but I recently was able to pickup a used gpu and I remember reading that the 5600 is slightly faster than the 5600g and uses a little less ram so would it be ideal to stick with an cpu with integrates graphics even with ryzen or spring for the slightly better cpu that doesn't have integrated graphics? Oh 2nd question is there any really big reasons to go intel for the cpu over amd? I know for a few years I have researching and watching videos but noticed a few of yours and matt whoismatt budget 4k editing pc videos and using those as a guide but his most recent videos in 2022 he switched to intel for slightly better price to performance (which may or may not be the case in a few months) anyways I know the gpus going with Nvidia is better for video editing so I was able to pick up a used gtx 1070 for a good price instead of going with my original plan of rx570 or rx580. Just trying to be thorough with my research don't wanna get something n find out for slightly more or the same I could be investing in something that's gonna give me a whole lot less in performance like the case of the gpus.
