@@theTechNotice So what was the total cost of this PC?
@rubenmartin7759
@rubenmartin7759 Жыл бұрын
@@theTechNotice I get the point why you do that, but did you think there's a way you can use this amount of ram on something? Isn't to much for video editing or music production? I mean a professional band lets say 5 instruments, voice and the chorus can do the job on 32gb no problem, event the videoclip with video in raw could be done with 64gb. So if 64gb is faster by access timing cause just have to handle/locate half of the memory, did you think 128gb will pay off, I mean did you think you are going to be able to use more than 64gb in a real world job? Can I ask how you plan to use it? Thanks

For anyone intrested in the Fractal Torrwnt case with the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420, it can fit in the case without modifcation if you mount it with the tubes at the bottom (which is actually better for the pump). However, this is not an option with all GPUs as the tubes will not reach with all GPUs. Update: I have now installed an Arctic Liquid Freeze II 420 (with 6 fans pull/push) into the Fractal Torrent case. I did not need to cut the bottom fan brakcet down to make it fit. It was awkward and slow to get it in but now it's in and works perefectly with no case modifcation. The tubes are down and I have a ASUS RTX TUF 3090.

@garywood6629

@@OfficialGundem I think you should be fine with the Artic II 360 as that is physically smaller than the 420 which I managed to install. I’d think 360 should go in nicely, just be patient and take your time. If it’s like the 420 install, it was a little frustrating but it does fit perfectly in the end. If you, or anyone else here, would like I could post some pictures of my Artic 420 II install so you can have a look.

Thanks a million for this build! I used it as the baseline for the machine I created this weekend. ProArt X790 and i9. Since it’s a spendy build, I opted for an RTX3060 2X w/12GB to get me started. I needed an Autodesk capable machine so I chose high CPU single-core speed as the priority. GPU was less of a need, so a modest RTX was perfect. Thankfully there’s room to improve that if needed. That double stack cooler just means I’ll have to be mindful of that. And thanks for the Whokeys discount. 😊

I have already built PC after your 12900K Build, with the Phanteks P600. I used: Case: Phanteks P600 CPU: I9-12900KS Mainboard: Asus Hero Z690 it is very close to the Pro Art one and also has the Quickcharge for the Front Panel. Liquid Freezer II 420mm with Push-Pull Config (6 Fans), barely fits in, but it fits. 128GB Kingston Fury without RGB Header, rated at 5600Mhz, but only running at 4000Mhz. 3x Kingston fury Beast SSD, each with 2TB and 7000MB/s Read and Write Speed. 1x Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti Asus Thor 1200W PSU 3 Extra 140mm Case Fans. I realized that the most stable BIOS for me is tie 1501, the 1601 and 1701 gave me some issue i didnt have before. Cinebench: Single Core average of 3 is at: 2097 Points Multi Core average of 3 is at: 28955 Points Only in Benchmarks, my PC has noticable Thermal Throttling. When working with it, I cant realize the Thermal Throttling or better said it just doenst get that hot. I am using the Washermod at the Moment, the Thermal Right Frame, caused some RAM Issues and Blue Screens, not sure if I give another Frame a try or simply let it be.

Push/pull's level of effectiveness depends on the fin destiny and thickness of the rad. I don't know what the fin density of that rad is, but I'd say it's thick enough that it's going to be more than a 2 or 3 degree difference.

I’m a creator and am building something very similar. I’m using the AM5, Ryzen 9 7950x, 3090 Ti, 128 GB DDR5 Dominator, with a custom loop (push/pull) that’ll cool the CPU & GPU. Going to base everything on a ROG Crosshair 670E Hero. Regarding the custom loop, I’m actually considering cooling the motherboard components surrounding the CPU with a single water block the flow then moves into the GPU… then it will enter the rad (420mm) for exchange…

Puget recently built me this identical system (Z690, 12900KS, 3090Ti, 128GB DDR5) apart from the SSD setup which is a bit different on ours, and it's also in a rack mount case. It's a beast, able to render Premier clips while compositing stills between Lightroom and Photoshop all at the same time. If anyone is wondering, I paid ~$9500 for Puget to build and optimize it, and they're great. I'm sure you could build one for quite a bit less than that yourself, but my business is busy enough that relying on a well-known firm like Puget to source, build, configure, and warranty everything for us is the way to go.

It's takes a bit of fiddling but it works. I will be testing with the 12900K, Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 ARG in Phanteks P600s case with lots of fan variations, will post the video soon. Hey Tech Notice, The free program "Fan Control" has really great options for controlling case fans based on CPU or GPU temperatures.
@bgtubber
@bgtubber Жыл бұрын
Argus monitor is even better, albeit paid. You can use it to tell which fans to spin up under which conditions. It's so incredibly flexible. I made it so that my front case fans spin up when my GPU VRAM junction temp goes above 80*C (GDDR6X on the RTX 3090 is really hot!). You can preprogram up to 6 conditions per fan.
@jcm2606
@jcm2606 Жыл бұрын
Fan Control is really good, but it does depend on separate software to actually be able to read the sensors for certain fans and components so it may not be fully compatible with your system. I'm currently using it to control my fans on a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Master motherboard and the software that Fan Control uses to read the speeds from and control the fans doesn't work correctly with one of the chipsets Gigabyte uses on this board, so one of my fans is basically nonexistent as far as Fan Control is concerned. Likewise I've heard that it can conflict with other programs that use the same software to read the sensors when they aren't set up to share the software with other programs, for instance I've heard that iCUE just doesn't work properly with Fan Control due to the fact that it's designed to take exclusive control over the software that both programs use to read the sensors for certain fans and components.

Well this is very similar to what I’m looking to build! Two questions, does the pro art motherboard have a optical audio out? And is 128gb or ram stable without too much work as long as Xmp isn’t utilized?
@ojtothemax

Hi Shivaess, The Asus Hero Z690 pro, has an optical port and it also runs the 128GB stable, 4 Slots just doesnt support any XMP Profiles, so it runs at 4000Mhz. The Hero has only a disadvantage compared to the Pro Art, regarding the LAN connetions. This is my answer above, that is what I have build together. The Cost was at around 8101€ when I Build the PC in April this year.

I see you've saved $50-70K. Why don't you get a setup with a quad processor server board, 4 server processors $12K each, a couple of $15K GPUs, 2.5Tb RAM + proper storage? Besides that, you could fit a couple of those systems in some cases like Thermaltake Core W200. A good monitor is also no less than 5K. For 2 systems you could have at least 4 of those.

You can have all the fans on your front radiator but saying you are trying to push cold air in that way is nonsense. You will pull massive heat (especially with a 12900ks pulling around 200-250 watts at high load) from the radiator into the case, what's even worse is that a radiator takes much longer to cool down than an air tower so you will be dumping heat in for quite a while
@jeroenvdw

I run my setup with this case as well. Just stock case fans and no back fan which isn't needed at all. I capped the rotation speed of the fans to 50% and my cpu and gpu never go past 60c at full load and there's no noise.

If the goal was to build a professional workstation you should have started out with an LGA4189 ( or LGA4677 in 2023 ) based motherboard with support for Quad-channel memory. 😉 + The Fractal Torrent is a great case optimized for Air-Cooling ( Btw. That's why the PSU goes in the top, just like in the old days. ) - Using a radiator in the front => The heat you're trying to remove gets blown into the case. 🤥 + Placing the radiator in the bottom blowing out, would be much more efficient. 👍 - Running the fans in push-pull cfg is nonsense! Why you ask? Because you cannot create significant low pressure using radial fans! They will probably just look like "higher resistance" seen from the pushing fans! Plus generate extra noise! 🙄

How are you using quad channel DDR5? I originally bought 4 sticks of 8GB DDR5, and had constant BSODs. After running a memtest, I found out I wasn't able to run quad channel and was only able to get dual channel running as this wasn't officially supported by Intel 12th gen from what I read. Some techs told me they were surprised I was even able to boot into the OS and play some games considering my configuration wasn't supported.

4090 honestly I believe is 100% overhyped already, similarly with the 30x and 20x before that. The 10x series was the last really decent GPU range they have offered. Not because they don't have the capacity or the technology, no... It's because they want to scrape everybodies wallets clean first on 30x stock at ridiculous pricing. So 40x will not be coming out before that happens, and if it doesn't happen at all then 40x will be gimped so as to not destroy the value in the 30x. That or it will cost 2x what the 30x costs and they will retain 30x value that way. The 13th series CPU's though I have a big hope for, they are shaping up to be fricking AMAZING little chips. In addition to that power, they may have some sort of APU version as well - utilising offcuts from their Arc / Battlemage tech. It is my suspicion that they will try to get into the console markets and push out AMD. That means they need to have competitively priced chips, which are powerful but also include half decent graphics. They will be in talks with Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and others to supply SOCs for mobile and handheld gaming platforms - which I think mobile 13th gen will be perfect for! So it should be a great battle of the tech titans, AMD vs INTEL for the superior gaming platform!

@@2933034 *Current products* yes of course. But I said in 3 generations time, I misquote myself it was something like : "By the time the next-next generation comes by, whatever comes after the 40x series will be accompanied by Intel's competitive efforts. So it will be APU's with ARC sub processing included, as well as SOCs for consoles and dGPU's as well." You are massively underestimating Intel based on what they did last year, and what they are doing right now. But you need to look further ahead, because that's what Intel are doing. It doesn't matter about today, it's all about the 5 year plan. Crusader they are calling it I think, internally .... Will be completely different platforms and technology than we have today. And you can bet your house that it will be competitive by then with all the present leaders. Just my two cents, but of course I am always willing to be wrong and listen to reason from others!

Well... it's not actually ideal. The PSU fan will still spin louder than it normally would obviously. Most people who know what they're doing build around NOISE optimization. The best way to have a PSU in a case is to have no real major thermal interaction with the case. So suck in cool air from outside the case and exhaust it directly. So keep the PSU on the bottom and have fans on the top and top/rear. Frankly, SIDE FANS seem to have gone away but they're actually more optimal than the solid side panels. You always want heat exhausted as close to the source as possible.... I did an experiment and blocked the side fan mount and GPU temperatures went up a lot (everything set to constant RPM/performance). I didn't even have a fan there but the heat was pouring out... all these extra fans are trying to brute-force a mediocre case design. Oh, it's on the high-end of what we have now but if you really designed for optimal cooling and minimum noise you'd make changes.
@rodhester2166
@rodhester2166 2 жыл бұрын
@@photonboy999 I prefer the fractal torrent over other cases for cooling, power supplies do not make much noise at all when compared to case fans, gpu fans and cpu fans, the fan in the power supply looses some of its sound because it is in a case in a case. But to each his own, I also prefer the ease of running power supply cables down with gravity rather than up to components. To each his own. I also prefer the idea of having 3 fans at the bottom pulling cool up air up directly to the graphics card, some of this potential airflow is block by a power supply at the bottom.
