24 volt kobalt is a back saver for me and runs.095 string for me no problems

You're welcome. Of course, the prices were accurate when I made the video but they go up/down. In fact, I saw the EGO on sale at Lowe's a few weeks ago for $179 (incl. battery).

He doesn’t have it up there, but it’s definitely the winner. The Milwaukee takes care of a full acre of my land. What a beast had it for about four or more years just bought another one that can change heads to different lawn tools. I think for me I got tired of cleaning out the four stroke carburetors with the price of true fuel being quite pricey. That was the only way to keep the carburetor from gumming up i could’ve ran it completely dry, which I guess could’ve been an option, but it sure beats not pulling on that string.

Nice. I have the newer Ego 16" and it has been awesome. I don't hate weed-eating anymore! I have heard the new Ryobi 17" is a beast. Hope you et to review that one someday.

Ive been super happy with my 40v Kobalt string trimmer. Ive had it for a year now and definitely beat it up every week last summer. Just used it for the first time again this year today. Never a lack of power and with the included 4ah battery it last me a similar 45ish minutes like you said. Enough time to trim my whole yard with lots of trees to trim around. Of course I have a 6ah and a 2ah if needed as well. Been happy with everything on that platform so far. My only complaint is the chargers are a pretty low output wattage for some reason and take a while like you said. I have to say the only other options I'd consider would be Toro, Husqvarna, or Stihl. All of which would have been significantly more money to get the same set of outdoor equipment I have on the Kobalt platform.

Yes, the Dewalt is one of my favorites and is a very popular weedeater. And yes, the slow charge time is my only complaint about it. That's where the EGO blows all the others away. I bought my first EGO in 2017. I was really impressed with the quality of it and the newer ones are just as good. In fact, every EGO product I've bought is very good quality. Thanks for the comment!

​​@@FixEverythingYourself the Ego's are good, I've used a few that other people own and like them, and the string trimmer and blowers can be had for a good price but similar to the other "higher end" brands, it quickly gets more expensive when you start to go beyond those. Something to note is there is a lot of info that the older generation 40v Kobalt stuff was made by Greenworks but I'm 99% sure all current "Gen4" 40v products and batteries are made by Chervon who is the company that owns and makes Ego. They also own the skil brand and they are a pretty compelling option too. Chervon has been making the Kobalt 24v stuff for a while. Similar to how Ryobi and Hart are both owned by TTI (they also own Milwaukee)

This is great! I am considering going electric with my trimmer and blower this spring. I am already heavily invested in the Ridgid tool ecosystem, and thus considering their trimmer/blower, released last year. Disappointed to see Ridgid wasn't included in this test. My guess is it would closely resemble the Ryobi in design and performance. Thanks for another great video! Just got the sub ;)

Thank you! If you've got personal experience with Ridgid and know what kind of quality to expect, you're already a leg up on folks who don't own anything and are looking to buy. Very nice review. I was about to by a greenworks at costco but I backed off. Someone told me to get a Ryobi but I saw it at home depot and I find it cheaply built. The ego looks nice, may as well spend a few bucks more and get the better one.

The ryobi 40v 17in brushless with a 6ah battery is a beast runs about 1h20min and has gone through anything ive put it through in two years and still goes great im in canada and have about 1.5 acres and lots of trees to go around and runs about 300 Canadien with a 4ah battery and charger

A 6ah battery is a big one. That's a lot of use out of one battery! When I did my tests I was running the weedeaters pretty much nonstop, meaning not a lot of dead time walking from one part of the yard to another. Thanks for the comment!
