🤣🤣🤣Hey Edward! Thanks! We have certainly covered a lot of ground in a year or so, but there is still so much more to discover! Ometepe really is out of this world and such a special place. It really feels like you at a surf beach along the ocean, especially at Playa Santo Domingo. Thankfully we didn't encounter any sharks on any of our swims!

Yes we were extremely lucky to experience Ometepe with only rarely bumping into any other foreign visitors. It felt like a true authentic experience of living in a rural fishing village in paradise! Ometepe is a really special and unique place.

We got lucky that day with an amazing cloud display (we think!). This volcano is still active but uneventful when we were there. El Pital was really nice and it was a vegan cafe too!

Hi Cara, yes it certainly felt like being next to an ocean, especially on the Playa Santo Domingo side. We tried out a range of accommodation here and you have a lot to choose from; from basic eco huts to hotels with mid/high range amenities. We didn't notice any luxury resorts, however we weren't looking for those either.

Ometepe island is located in the great lake of Nicaragua , its a island in a lake with two volcanoes , Concepcion volcano active now

Hi J, the Corn Islands have exactly what you are describing. They are on the Caribbean coast and are wonderful. We haven't made the time to venture out there. It is a bit of a trek overland and by sea to get to but well worth it.
