Wow! 😍😍😍 Such a charming town and so different from Granada. This is the first time ever that I get and actual view at the town vs specific tourist attractions, but then again you guys have become famous for your walking tours ✌🏻🤠 The whole concept of Ometepe blows my mind... it's an island with towns and everything BUT it happens to be inside a lake and its happens to have two volcanoes one of which is active -- Crazy! 😲😲😲
@BucketListTravellers3 жыл бұрын
Hey Edward! Yes Moyogalpa is a really pretty town and it does have a different vibe to Granada. Granada may have Mombacho, but Concepcion as a backdrop is next level! We are loving Ometepe. It has a laid back vibe with small fishing villages dotted around, yet has a very good road and bus system for most of the island. It is really impressive in a lot of ways. We are building up our sunset insta photos portfolio too! Oh and we agree it is crazy that the island is basically two volcanoes!🤯🤯

Stumbled on your channel by accident and very much enjoy your uploads. I did get a chuckle out of your walking tour and mentioning twice "anti clockwise". In American English we always say " counter clockwise!". I do love Granada. Was there 2 years ago. You are braver than I am, eating the street food there regularly. I ate it for awhile, but reverted to restaurants after a rough GI attack. Keep up the good work. I love your enthusiasm!

Hey Tommy T, glad you found us and welcome to our channel!! Anti clockwise must be an Aussie phrase, never thought about that! I'm sure you'll pick up on plenty other quirks in our speaking too! We have cast iron stomaches, ironically though I've had food poisoning twice in Granada and both times was due to my own cooking!

Seriously 😳 Ometepe island should be declared 7 wonders of the natural world and UNESCO listed! It’s beauty is unique. Where on earth will you find 2 twin volcanos 🏝 🌋 🌋in a fresh water lake on an island? It’s unique flora and fauna is studied by many scientists from around the world at The Ometepe Biological Field School, and to top it off it’s native inhabitants build, large idol stones made of volcanic rocks over 1,500 years ago! Nicaragua 🇳🇮 is so underrated sadly! Thank you to both of you for showing the world this hidden gem!💎

You are most welcome Michelle! You are spot on, the beauty and treasure of Ometepe is unrivalled. In a way it is nice that it isn't too well known, we wouldn't want it to be ruined by mass tourism. We also loved the strong sense of environmental conservation that permiated through the island.

Lovely island, I never made it to it but maybe some day soon. The reason why school buses end up in Central America is because school districts throughout the USA and Canada get rid of them at discount prices and usually also a subsidy from the government of each country. In the 80s there was a surge in mini buses, usually Japanese Toyotas and other brands...today you see a lot of jitney on the roads as well... but I think in Nicaragua you can't bring vehicles older than five years since the 1990s.
@BucketListTravellers3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Daniel for that insight! It is interesting that you mention that you can't bring in older vehicles, I've noticed that a number of the chicken buses look in really good condition.

Thanks Jango! Ometepe is amazing and highly recommended when you next visit. Haha, what word did you learn this time? I (Jon) have a bad habit of using Aussie slang, Jay gets annoyed at me when she translates the videos because there is usually no direct translation! Yes we are currently on Ometepe and will be there for another week. Not sure where to next, we want to go to a beach but don't want to get get caught in the Semana Santa crowds!

@@BucketListTravellers Hi Jon, the two words that i learned with today's video were Overdue and Court, i've never heard them before, i just would say: "running out of time" and "let's play basketball" respectively, my english is not so sharp yet, there's a lot of word that i've never heard of, and others that i don't use properly, the only australian slang that i know is "G'day". @BucketListTravellers3 жыл бұрын
Nice fact checking there Angel! Jay may have used a little bit of creative licence in her description! Nicaragua is the biggest country by landmass in Central America and while you can't see everything from the top of the Ometepe volcanoes, you can still see a lot, like Mombacho Volcano around 50km/30miles away.
@chiefswife12122 жыл бұрын
Why would anyone build a town right under an active volcano? Makes 0 sense.
@BucketListTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Being the land of lakes and volcanoes, there aren't too many places in Nicaragua that aren't close to a volcano or some sort of volcanic activity. Volcanic areas are also the most fertile areas for producing crops and that is probably the main reason that you have communities here. Thanks for watching.
