Awesome job! I use the NKJV a lot and like the CSB as well for a more dynamic translation. Crossway makes some wonderful Bibles, and I think that Preaching Bible looks really spiffy (also nice that it doubles as a pillow 😁). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I used to argue for one translation vs another until I read "The Man with the Noisy Heart". It's the story of John Beekman, a Wycliff Bible translator that fixed the problem of word for word translation. It's a great book, and really eye opening regarding the relationship between God's word, language, and cultural context.

I have the Legacy and the Omega. I much prefer the Omega over the Legacy for 2 reasons: larger print and double column. I'm not opposed to single column, but I prefer one verse per line. I find it easier to lose my place with a wide column.

I wish I could get an ESV that is similar to the MacArthur Preaching Bible (NASB). It's one verse per line and amazing. Unfortunately, I prefer to teach from the ESV, so I'm conflicted. I did my first sermon soon and I want to use my MacArthur, but it's not ESV. 😥 Thanks for the review!

My pastor told our church in the early 80s, the KJV was blessed by God. You know what? You can read all you want, you can go to bible college all you want. You can study all you want. God meant for his word to be preached and taught! A educated man in the Book of Acts reading Isaiah. The Holy Ghost told Philip to join the chariot and as he did, the eunuch was reading out loud Isaiah. THE preacher asked him Understandest what though readests? The eunuch said How can I ? Except some man should guide me... Gee, how many apostles went to synagogue to study God's word? Paul called all his education dung, so he could win Christ. My pastor, who was gifted, only used one bible to teach and preach. Let me tell you all something; the KJV is being fazed out. When I got saved in 1978, bible stores sold majority KJV bibles. A couple of years ago, I went to a bible store, the KJV was in the minority. Why go to bible college for? If you called to be a pastor, YOU GOT to be called. Who God calls he qualifies. Like Aaron, Paul said No man taketh this honour unto himself, but he THAT WAS CALLED OF GOD, AS WAS AARON. Oh well like Solomon said; To the writing of books, there is no end... God blessed us to speak English, why we need Hebrew, Greek and Latin as a second language? smh. PS, I have heard of the dead raised, seen demons cast out, the sick healed of which down through the years, experienced, sinners saved in water baptism in Jesus name. Filled with the Holy Ghost. You don't learn all this in bible college. Prophesy, discernment of spirits. The gifts of the spirit.

@UltraX34

literally not. I think if you CAN, a minister should go to seminary or bible college. Why? Well, think about it: would you allow a doctor to operate on you that didn't go to medical school? Of COURSE not! Self-appointed doctors are as useful as self-appointed preachers. When someone has been grounded in the biblical texts and especially in good scholarship and the hebrew and Greek, they can learn to appropriately apply the word to people!
@ChathuraImbulagoda
@ChathuraImbulagoda 4 жыл бұрын
@@UltraX34 the word is spiritually discerned. Scholarship only adds to the honest reader. But if you don't trust God has preserved his word and put trust in man's wisdom then you will miss what God is trying to show you which is the case so often because people refuse to read from the KJV. Show me a dispensationalist who does not use the KJV...
@UltraX34
@UltraX34 4 жыл бұрын
@@ChathuraImbulagoda I say this with all respect for you as a brother in Christ. This is where we start. The KJV is so provably not the best translation, not even top 5. And dispensationalism is a theological system that was foreign to Christianity until the 19th century 😂. Christianity looked more like Lutheranism or Anglicanism in its most ancient forms, not Baptist dispensationalism. Scholarship helps us know what the Bible actually means. For instance, when the Bible says "baptism saves", what do you think that means? Cause if it's not what the early Christians believed for the first 1600 years, then you're probably wrong. That's the reason scholarship matters, so that we know what the Bible meant in its original context where it arose. Dividing the Bible into dispensations makes no sense if the Bible divides itself into covenants (Abrahamic, Davidic, New).
