Brother, thank you for a most interesting ESV comparison. Thinking of various Size and types of Bibles, it promoted a trip down memory lane. I’ve been in ministry for over 50 years. When I was in school, the holy grail of Bibles was a KJV Schofield loose leaf Bible ( Every self respecting young preacher had to have one). It was huge. When on my motorcycle, I’d carry an extremely small NASB with type so small that only my young eyes could read. That certainly changed over the years to where a larger Bible sat in my saddlebags. Today, in my old age and with my old eyes, I read the Scriptures and preach from an iPad as I can enlarge the fonts to a readable size. Who would have ever thought? The beauty of all of this is that we are so blessed to have these wonderful tools with which we can read and study God’s precious word from the venerable printed page to the electronic page. We are both blessed and spoiled. Last note, in my library, I have a Bible collection that includes every Bible I have owned since I was nine years old. Each volume reminds me of my journey and growth as a child of God. I also have all my dad’s Bibles that he studied and preached from. They remind me of the heritage I’ve been blessed with. I’m an old guy now (still preaching and studying Gods Word). It always thrills me to see the younger generations of men like you who will rise up, answer the call, serve God and preach His word. Incidentally, I no longer pastor a church, but have returned to the road and my ministry name is (ready for this?) Methuselah Ministries-Preaching and Singing Christ till Death or Rapture. Many blessings to you.

Thanks for putting this together. I have been using a thinline for many years now and was looking to upgrade to something in leather. This video was very helpful in being able to compare the options.

Great comparison of some of the more-upscale ESV offerings from Crossway!!

A really excellent review. Thank you for sharing. I now know what to look for in the physical aspects of a Bible. I would have like to hear comments on the ease of turning the pages, page thickness .

Nice to know that the cross ref bible is also called Pastors bible. I need to know the exact benefit of the cross ref, as to whether its worth it. ? Coz i can check all of them on my phone, and they maybe distracting for reading purpose coz most of them are useless unnecessary, however sometimes we dont wanna use phone for cff and just wanna focus on the hard copy bible. So need some suggestion.

Hey brother, nice video! May God bless you. I have a ESV thinline Bible, the same you show in this video, but I think I got it for a quite little more of time, and mine lays flat pretty good, both at Genesis 1 and at Revelation 22. So, I think you gotta give it time and use :) But, overall, very nice video. 8 points size in the Thinline is not the best, but not bad (as you said, it depends on the reader and the age haha). But it is a pretty good Bible. And in Christianbook.com you can get it very cheaper. Like, almost more than 50% of discount.

So do you use multiple Bibles everyday or do you have one go to Bible?

Great question, Bill. For me, I like to have one go-to Bible for everyday reading, and I use Logos for more in-depth study of original languages, commentaries, and comparing various translations. I used to do all of my Bible reading with an app, but I've come back to using a physical Bible to eliminate the constant stream of notifications and distractions that try to pull me away from my time in the Word.
