@@JamesWelsh hey James I’m kinda new to this skin care thing and when I see people (mostly other men) use chemical exfoliators they don’t put it in their beard. Is it bad to use chemical exfoliators on the parts of your face with facial hair? And if so what exfoliators should I use specifically for that part of my face(beard and mustache)

James I wanna thank you for your wonderful advice. Thanks to your videos I finally got my boyfriend to take care of his skin. He used to have black heads on his nose, textured skin and these weird rough irritaded and dry patches on his hair line and facial hair area. Now his skin is even toned and bright, his pore are less prominent and the ezcema is gone. He still has black heads but just a little bit right at the very tip but the routine has prevented new ones. We can't thank you enough, it's been half a year and he is just so confident compared to before.

Hi, I'm by no means an expert either but from watching James, Hyram and Cassandra Bankson I've learned that retinol shouldn't be mixed with BHA. They both have a risk to be irritating so it's best not to use the retinol in the same night that you exfoliate. So you can use the BHA exfoliator one night and use the retinol the next night. Niacinamide can be used with both BHA and retinol, better to apply it after the BHA or retinol as it will help to reduce any potential irritation from either ingredients. Then moisturise. Hope that helps ❤️

The SA cleanser has saved my skin! I used to use a scrub and now I only use this cleanser and some leave on treatments and my skin is amazing, I ruined my skin with using scrubs and I’ve been recovering for years from them. Even though I have oily skin I only use the SA cleanser at night and I always wash my face for at least 60 seconds and usually leave the cleanser on for another minute or two and massage my nose. I don’t use the cleanser twice a day I just feel like it’s too drying and my skin can be sensitive, in the morning I use micellar water and rinse my face with water and continue with spf. Watching your videos has definitely helped with my skin! I started using BHAs and AHAs properly and my skin is loving it. Only thing I’m still trying to work on is what I think is fungal acne on my chin but I’m not sure

Gemma Sherman same! How long do you wait after applying it before moving onto the next product? I find that it stays oily on my skin for 30-40 minutes and causes my next product to “pill” or “foam” if I don’t wait for my BHA to fully absorb.
@gemmaryan5095
@gemmaryan5095 4 жыл бұрын
omodekili I’ve never had that problem! I have a very basic skincare routine, so maybe that’s why- I don’t really have any active ingredients interacting. But, I go in with my moisturizer (cerave) right away after using it. I saw a lot of people in the comments talking about waiting a while after using this product to apply others, but I’d never even heard of doing that until now. I also have dry skin, so going even five minutes without a moisturizer causes major TEWL and leaves my face like the Sahara. I have noticed a few times that the product will foam ever so slightly when I apply it (and I use it right after cleansing) but never when applying something after it. So I’m not really the person to ask about this one, but I saw a few comment threads with this same discussion so maybe you can find some tips there!
@omodekili
@omodekili 4 жыл бұрын
Gemma Sherman oh!! I have really dry skin and use a cerave moisturizer too. I feel you so hard about your skin feeling super dry and tight if you wait too long-it’s been driving me crazy! I’ll try taking the plunge and applying right away again. Maybe I’ve just been too cautious. 😅 thank you!!

Blackheads are overproduction of sebum mixing with dead skin cells and clogging pores and then getting oxidized so it appears black. Exfoliating is the key to getting rid of and preventing them. Sebaceous filaments get oxidized and appear black the same way. Except they are just oils for your skin in the pores, they're not a form of acne, they are actually natural and healthy. Exfoliating just minimizes the appearance, the "black" part. Some of us have it on our cheeks as well but it usually doesn't get oxidized, so we usually don't notice.

I just got the Paula's choice BHA exfoliator you mentioned and it is a game changer! Firstly, I recently bought a FaceTheory cleanser with AHA and BHA which I think was starting to help change my skin but I was only 2 weeks in when I got the Paula's choice. As it is MUCH stronger I felt it straight away! I think it shocked my skin because I actually felt a kind of burning sensation though my face didn't go red. But my face has been producing WAY less oil and pores look WAY better already. My skin has actually been feeling kind of dry (but not looking dry) and feeling tight since then, so I won't use it for another 2-6 days or so.

You reckon your hair is looking rough,...you oughta see mine. I have to be very careful when stocking up in case pigeons start nesting in it! 🙄 I have sensitive/combination skin. The double cleanse & niacinamide have def made a big difference to my normally very oily nose. The CeraVe salicylic wash is a fave of mine & I recently purchased another of your recommendations, the Holifrog Aha refining acid wash which is also good but I'm not keen on the smell. Sometimes I also use Skinhit clarifying serum with Bakuchiol + Oatmeal which has similar effects of Retinol but with less irritation after I'm never gonna get completely clear skin, after battling with acne for the last 42 years, but this is the clearest my skin has ever been since I was 14 & your vids have helped allot with that. A BIG thank you from Cambridge 🤗👍

Okay my blackheads are from pimples long time ago. They're on the sides in my eyes, and taking over my cheeks. I've tried the cosrx blackhead toner once a week for three months now. The la roche posay SA cleanser or a gentle cleanser with SA for over a year followed by niacinamide for the last 6 months. Not sure if it's working at all. Niacinamide definitely helped with overall oiliness of my skin, but getting new blackheads. Anyone else with blackheads on sides of face and sides of cheeks?

Hi Halidha , i suffer from blackheads so i know the frustration that comes with trying a bunch of things that don't work. but lately I've seen an amazing improvement in them. i currently use the cosrx BHA Power liquid(However ive heard from ALOT of people that the Paula's Choice one is the best so im gonna buy this one next) and Cosrx good morning low PH cleanser(Which has salicylic acid in it) and one thing that has allowed me see a great improvement is using Hyaluronic acid(From the ordinary). i use this in addition to my laneige pore toner which is very moisturizing and I've realised when treating you skin at night with salicylic acid it's very important that you're moisturized and hydrated because BHA drying out your skin can make you skin so try to the point where it doesn't work the way its supposed to and dehydrated skin can lead to breakout so my advice to you is if you're using a BHA or any exfoliating acid , or even vitamin c or retinol you must be hydrating your face with a serum and a toner for them to work properly.

TIP: *retinol* should NOT be mixed w *benzoyl peroxide* Acne/blackhead treatments often have bp in them and if you add retinol to the same cleanse session *THEY WILL CANCEL EACH OTHER OUT* so you'll get no benefit from either ingredient. Use one at night and one in the morning if you're using both.

Check out hyram too, and remember expensive isn't always better and start with a simple routine then slowly take away and add products as you go. So you can tell if a product is helping. Good luck!

I get your pain. I was suppose to get my hair done before the lock down here in the usa and the day of my appointment it happened. Now my hair is thinning because of how badly split ends are.

But I’ve used the niacinamide 10% zinc 1% serum for month, and it only gave me pimples and didnt clear my blackheads nor my skin. My skin is literally the oilest ever summer and winter. VI use the same routine for morning and night (except certain things like sunscreen and ice): Morning: -banila co original cleansing balm -gatsby acne care foam -cerave foaming cleanser -the ordinary niacinamide serum -snp mini shea butter moisture serum -aveeno baby daily moisture lotion -sunscreen (i dont wear makeup) Night: -banila co cleansing balm -gatsby acne care foam -cerave foaming cleanser -ice -the ordinary niacinamide serum -snp mini shea butter moisture serum -aveeno baby moisture lotion -aloe Vera on my eyebrows and lashes. My pimples and fungal acne aren’t going away, and the dark pigmentation on my skin are going darker. What am I doing wrong? I’m 12.

i am not an expert but i belive that you are cleansing too much, maybe a double cleanse is enough. also using too much product as such a young age might not be very good for your skin some of the ingredients might be clashing
