Oh The Boxcar Children are great audio books! Hoopla has a lot of them for free and my daughter listened to all of them last summer!

Oh, Summer! I love your taste in books AND the fact that you let your kids choose them in the order they wish. Choice and options make it so enjoyable.We read the Mouse and the Motorcycle in homeschool when I was little, and I "binge read" the Boxcar Children series around the same time. AWESOME selections, mama!

🥰🥰🥰 You made my day! Thank you!! I loved the Boxcar children, and spent all my chore money on my favorites. Haha! Seems silly now, but they are so nostalgic for me. ❤️

Love your list! My rising 3rd grader loves the Misty series by M. Henry. We’re also going to read the Viking Quest series this year since it’ll go along with our history timeline 😁

We love Misty from Chincoteague (thank goodness for autocorrect! 😅). I'll need to add that to the list. We're doing a time line for the first time this year! What do you guys like to use?

@@SummerMeyers we are a Classical Conversations family, so it’s cycle 2 Medieval to current times 😊 We use the timeline song to memorize the full timeline and I love to piece together resources on areas where we want to linger.

We just started Story of the world Medieval times, and my kids are hooked! I'm hoping to supplement with some time lines to keep it all straight. ❤️

Thanks for the ideas! Our grade 3 list is pretty short right now, but I do have a list started: bears on Hemlock Mountain, Kidlick's kayak (from TGATB), Ning's pony and other stories from around the world (from TGATB), & encyclopedia brown. A start anyways!

TGTB library is a great place to find age appropriate books. They used to have a book list as well.... I wonder if they still have it. It was really comprehensive.

This is for my rising 3rd grader, but I've used it for my older two (with a few tweaks) when they were in 3rd. 🤗❤️ Was there a book I missed that I should have included?

We plan to read some of these for my 3rd grader. Do you do two books a month or how much do you have her read each day? My daughter read the first sassafras book recently and seemed to like it. She’s on the second one.

Is this a Charlotte Mason list, Summer?
@SummerMeyers2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure Ms. Mason would have approved of Sideways Stories, or Zoey Sassafras, but she would have loved My Side of the Mountain and Little House on the Prairie. I'm not as opposed to a little twaddle now and then. 😜
