Good point about merch offers vs FBA. I think there is a limit to how much of a premium you can charge vs merch offers.

I no longer buy any books that have Merchant offers less than $11.95, the reason being that Prime offers tend to gravitate downward to whatever the lowest Merchant offers are. Higher Merchant offers usually-but not always-mean that the Prime offers will also stay higher.

The first point of the video seems contradictory to what most Roamer videos instruct . I was of the understanding that we always go by the Buy Box because that is what people see and purchase from 99% of the time with the addition of getting it quickly with prime ? Now based on this video it seems to suggest we should go by just the merchant pricing?

You may get the prime bump, my point is not to base your sourcing on that. A low escore with a huge gap between MF and FBA offers isn’t a good sourcing strategy on that. If it’s cheap enough go ahead and try if you want. The faster a book sells the higher a prime bump you can get.

Adding on to this point, the buy box changes all the time! Keep in mind that Amazon almost always prioritizes Prime offers because they have a vested interest in selling FBA books. 1) they make commission off each FBA sale (they do not with FBM), and 2) they have an interest in getting stuff out of their warehouse to add new inventory. The only way I'd see Amazon prioritizing FBM is if the FBA price is outrageously low/high... And they'd probably deactivate your listing anyway with the "fair pricing act" they implemented.

TL;DR: the buy box price changes pretty often. Software may recommend you to reject the price at $12 and then an hour later it will recommend you to accept it at a price of $16.
