Solid Review Brotha! I like how you debunked some of the myths out there with this unit!

Thank you for watching bro!! Yes, those reviews are 🔑🔑 and I was curious to test it myself and see. I wanted to add it in my review cuz if the signal cuts out because of how someone holds the mic, it’s a big deal!! I was glad to see when the antennas are attached, there were no issues. Have you had that issue with any of your mics before?

Great review! I’m just curious as to who wears the lapel mic at the ceremony?
@MrMaui38
@MrMaui38 Ай бұрын
@@mixmastertoronto Thanks for watching!! For me, if I have just one lapel, usually the officiant will wear the lapel and during vows etc I will go give a handheld to the bride and groom! If you have two lapels, you can also put one on the groom to catch some more audio, but not necessary.

This was really a fantastic review Shay! I wasn't aware of that particular model. I am so happy with my PTU-71 mics that I never researched any other model lol. Glad to know they have a true diversity version. I'll be using my PTU-71 mics at another corporate event today. 😊😁

Thanks 2L!! As you know by my comments, I've had my eye on Phenyx mics for a while haha! Your rave reviews about PTU-71 and especially the bodypack/lapel working great really convinced me. And that makes sense! Why look for anything else if the PTU-71 have been working great haha. Its also nicer that the PTU-71 receiver is smaller, while this one is twice the size
@DJ2Legit007
@DJ2Legit007 10 ай бұрын
@MrMaui38 Lol yep. Half the size and half the price! But seriously though, the compact size of the PTU-71 is another feature that makes it so appealing to me and my setup.
@MrMaui38
@MrMaui38 10 ай бұрын
@@DJ2Legit007definitely! The size is a huge factor, especially for those ceremony setups you can fit the mic receiver and everything on that speaker pole attachment! Also just curious, have you ever noticed that problem with the PTU-71 where the signal decreases if you hold the bottom of the mic? I wonder if it’s a Phenyx thing or just on these mics in particular.

I tested it tonight. First thing I noticed was the PTU-71 does not have that signal meter that yours has so it was hard to tell. But from the brief tests I did tonight I have to conclude that the PTU-71 does not have that issue at all.
@MrMaui38
@MrMaui38 10 ай бұрын
@@DJ2Legit007 that’s great news for the 71!! Thanks for testing! Yeah without that meter and without the comments where people mentioned it, I would not have even known about issue with holding the mics in my testing at least.

Thanks bro!! This and the PTU 71 are great options cuz you get the lapel which works well. This one has some more pro features but has a bigger receiver and costs more. Of course you can pay more and go for the “name brands” too which of course are solid haha. Let me know which one you end up going with!!

Great review! For the body pack, can we use other headset microphones outside of the Phenyx brand?
@MrMaui38
@MrMaui38 3 ай бұрын
@@john-carlosynostroza thanks for watching! You know what I haven’t had an opportunity to test that yet but the Phenyx headset/lapel all use the three pin mini XLR. I’m not sure about every brand but the Shure lapels and headsets are the 4 pin mini xlr for example, so they wouldn’t work. If you end up finding out, let me know because I would be interested to know too!

Nice review! I will be looking into this. I currently use a Sure receiver and microphone for ceremonies. I’m looking for a new setup for main setup to replace my GtX audio.
@MrMaui38
@MrMaui38 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching!! These are most definitely worth looking into. Any issues with your GTD or reason you want to upgrade? The handhelds quality are similar to the GTD, except they do have a little less handling noise and plosives (though you can still hear them). And Nice! If these don’t work out for me, I’ll definitely be looking at a higher end shure system. Depending on your Shure system, you probably don’t need a lapel, but these can help in a pinch in case you do!

I just got the smaller unit one handheld / one lapel. I can't seem to get my lapel mic to sync and have to manually set it the until to what the lapel mic came pre-set with. Any suggestions? I didn't see you show you setting your lapel mics in your videos.
@MrMaui38

Thanks for watching! By smaller unit are you talking about the PTU-71? I dont have that one, but it should work the same as mine. Either way, once you've scanned the channels or got the receiver on the channel you want, then you click your receiver to the "IR" function and hold up the handheld/ body pack unit and it should sync! The key is you have to line up the IR window on the handheld or body pack. On the body pack, you'll have to open up the battery cover to expose the IR window directly when you hold it up to receiver, otherwise it wont sync. Have you tried all that and it still doesn't work?

First thanks for the video and input. I wasn't going to comment but your last comment about Aesthetics (or the way something appears in the setting ex. a black stick with a mic on it in between the minister and the Bride wearing her 2 thousand dollar dress and Groom. Well here is my two cents . First you much Prioritize. You want the message to be heard. Therefore the minister must be heard. I have found that a Lapel is the first option. Now there are times you do not use the lapel... Outside in a windstorm. On this occasion, the minister used a hand held on a stand. (other ministers simply hold it under their Bible) While it doesn't look the best, go back to Priority TO BE HEARD. While the Lapel is used, it's usually no problem with the minister. Now during the vows, I have to Bump the channel up to pick up the Response to the Vows. The vows are usually very soft and heart felt. ( I could mic the groom but Not the bride due to Aesthetics ex a black dot on her White dress.) Here is where I always have my "Parachute", this was the term one minister gave the extra mic at the Altar. If there is unforeseen interference (ex. you set up early and no issues but later the videographer added a wireless transmitter without your knowledge and BAM) Simply hand the handheld parachute and everyone can hear. If the couple has their own prepared vows, the handheld is s MUST, Everyone wants/ Needs to hear these vows as they are Personal. The stories told, the jokes etc. I felt bad at having a black mic in the hands of a beautiful bride but I watched the Wedding of Luke Combs (Country Music Artist) and with all his money, there he was talking and singing to his bride at the altar with a handheld mic. Priority Being Heard. To Summarize: 1: Priority to be HEARD clearly 2: Lapel if possible, If Wind is an issue, consider a hand held with the minister. 3: If Personal Vows , Handheld is a very good option to be HEARD almost a must. It is a question a DJ must ask before doing the wedding so that they are prepared. 4: that Extra handheld "Parachute" is a Staple at my weddings and has saved me more than once. Again sorry to Ramble but it was the least I could do after you took the time for the video. I was curious as to the sound quality of the lapel. Michael aka DJ Older than Dirt haha

@@michaelha7 thank you for the response and well summarized thoughts!! I agree 100% and that is why I am a big fan of this system where I can have both reliable lapel and handheld mic options in one. Regardless of whether a DJ decides to use a mic on a stick or a lapel for the officiant, I agree that having that second handheld available for the couples vows are a must! Everyone should be able to hear those special vows. I’ve heard of DJs putting a lapel on the groom and officiant and turning up the gain for the vows hoping to capture the bride, but I can’t imagine this allows the bride to be heard well. Again thanks for the comment and sharing your thoughts!! Keep rockin 👊🏽👊🏽

Exactly. Another thing I do is disinfect the mics, and then make sure and tell the person to hold it closer to their chin. Of course many times before the speech is over, they are holding the mic at their belly button. 😂.
