I'm using the space gray Umidigi A5 Pro. I've done OTA update twice. OTG works fine. Charging port is Micro USB. The camera is working well. I like the double tap of the power button to launch the camera from any screen, even when the screen is off. The phone speaker is loud. Wired headphone audio playback is loud & powerful. The earpeice is not so loud, but you will get use to it. I think the earpeice loudness have been increased from the previous OTA update. The finger print sensor was positioned properly. I like the aluminium frame. The phone feels sturdy. Apart from the volume buttons and power button, nothing moves on the phone. Works well with GSM networks here. 🇳🇬

Umidigi a5 pro no questions. Using it as my daily driver for almost a month. No issue at all. A top notch phone that I bought for 89 dollar. Works with all 4g lte vendors here in Malaysia

I have the Umidigi A5 Pro. It is an impressive smartphone for the price. Except the camera. The camera is average for a cheap phone. Even after the update. Build quality is very good. Feels like a much more expensive smartphone. I would buy another one. Like it.

I just bought the umidigi for my mother and I'm surprised how blueish the screen is. It really looks awful on white pages. Fortunately, I found a trick: turning on the night mode on lowest settings gives a much nicer image, though still not what I'd describe as accurate. The rest of the phone however is really surprising for the price!

Though I like the Umidigi A5 Pro, and I'm planning on getting it soon, in my opinion, Cubot X19 remains the best budget phone of 2019. It has a fast processor(helio P23)'with speed of up to 2.5 Ghz and 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM and sells for a reasonably cheap price of a little above $100. Out of the box, it would run on android 8.1 Oreo but true to the manufacturer's assurance that it would be upgraded to android 9 Pie, I upgraded my own device on August 10, 2019., same day I took delivery of the order I placed for it. Not a few doubted the upgrade assurance from the manufacturer but the company made good their words. Personally I love the gradient /twilight colour. It's a sleeping yet breathtaking beauty!

I have the A5 Pro, not to bad for the money. Currently the A5 Pro is 100.00 on AliExpress. The Redmi is 140.00 on Amazon. I did look at the Redmi before the 5pro, but it was lacking band support for TMobile and ATT. that's another thing when comparing phones is, how good of coverage your going to get, because if your missing one needed band, it will limit your coverage area.

The A5 Pro main camera has a "white balance" problem that make pics have a yellowish tint when taking pics in sunlight. Didn't you notice something was wrong with that Ice Cream Picture? Umidigi says they're going to address it with a update.

I have a Xiaomi note 5....with broken glass. I started looking for a new phone. Xiaomi uses Miui....which really, really sucks. It's slow...it's full of crap you can't delete....and adds little or no functional value to Android. It's also the Chinese version so it won't support Google Play Store. I bought a Umidigi One Pro last year and have received many updates since. I love my phone. I love that I can take it to any country in the world and it will work, which was one of my biggest issue with most smartphone, including Samsung. Phones that supports my country's carriers' bandwidths cost from $800 USD up. Umidigi was the only one that supports these bandwidths on all their phones.

The Mi5 is a flagship - and although some of the specs on paper are outdated, there's much more engineering that took place with the Mi5 and if had one - I wouldn't trade it in for any of these. Maybe the Redmi Note 7 is sort of acceptable.

Can you tell me about the Face Unlock feature? My A5 Pro is just 2 days old and the face unlock on the phone only works if you press on the power button after lifting/picking up at your face. I am on the assumption like the other brands that Face Unlock should work upon pick up/lifiting the phone to your face. If you need to still press the power button, I might as well use the fingerprint unlock. There is no convenience that Face Unlock provides. Is this isolated to the phone I have or also the phone unit you just reviewed. Appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Generally I think the setting for face unlock to work is for you to press the power button and then activate the face unlock. Unless you have a setting in the device that lets the phone wake up when you pick it up. I know some xiaomi devices have that settings under display. You can also change the settings on your umidigi to wake screen with volume button or if there is an option to double tap screen to wake the device could also be useful. These way, your face unlock will work without pressing the power button.

Hey Rony, first of all - happy to see that you enjoy the A2 lite. At the moment... Not sure what to recommend. Mediatek had a not very successful 2019 but seem to slowly recover. Looks like the Mi Note series are at the moment pretty hot. Haven't been doing a research around the mid-budget segment lately, so I can't really give any good suggestion. For sure I can recomment avoiding the A3 series :)

Yes, they are. |The Redmi 7 supports it, however the included charger is not QC certified; The Umidigi phone uses a fast charging technology by Mediatek, which is different and not that optimal.

Ayrton - whatever I say would be a guess, so don't take it for granted. I don't think Umidigi will be great at offering regular updates. Likely the phone will be durable - it looks to be well built. Maybe the Redmi 7 will be the one getting the more meaningful updates. But for daily usage - the A5 Pro feels faster.

The resolution of what? The screen? If that's the question about - no - it works in 1080p. Video can be recorded in 720p.

@@TechMishka Pretty sure he meant the games. Most smartphones these days allow you to lower your game resolution to increase performance. The A5 Pro has a 1080p native resolution but a weak CPU. You obviously want to run it at a lower resolution for heavy games like PUGB and COD Mobile.

Tried that. Made no difference. Google search shows this has been a problem for various android phones for quite a while. There are a lot of so called fixes but none have worked for me so far. Phone is still working fine with the odd UI crash every now and then. Hopefully an update will sort the problem but with Umidigi I'm not holding my breath!

What!? Of course a phone costing 7 or 8 times the price should be better. You might say that it should be 7 or 8 times better (instead of just slightly better in some cases). Truthfully, if this $100 delivers as much as it does for what you are paying then a $1200 to $1500 phone should actually be much much better than what it is.

I'm my experience the Umidigi A5 Pro camera software is trash. Photos have a yellow tint to them. Strangely enough, the tint isn't there in wide angle mode. Other than the camera, the A5 Pro is a solid budget device.

Umidigi A5 Pro sucks. I bought it 2019 for 100€ but there are Problems: Gyroscope is shaky you can not use VR GPS is very bad. Phone Volume if you use internal speaker is too low The Camera is unusable with indoor lighting, the release time is set too high and everything becomes blurred. This can only be solved by using a third party app and setting everything manually. Focus is also often not working And I think a broken camera is for most people a dealbreaker. But maybe there a different batches of this phone The only good thing is the metal frame and the phenomenal display. However, that does not compensate for the problems. I now have a Redmi Note 7 much better, except for the display. Is there any Phone 2022 with the qualitys of a redmi note 7, nfc but a display like the umidigi a5 pro? max 170€?

big problem with the Xiaomi Redmi 7 is good luck finding one for a good price. They are often twice the cost of the A5 pro in my country unless you want to get it from a dodgy overseas seller with crap feedback.

I worry about all the cheap internal components used in these phone's, you might be lucky to get 6 month's before the chip's burn out. I can't notice a difference between a 720 and 1080 p I doubt anybody can with the naked eye.

In fact the difference is notable. From 1080p to 4K it is hard to see, but you can notice 720p based on the way it shows small text; THe components inside are standard. The cheaper price comes from the lack of continuous support or less efforts spent on the design.

@@neilcampbell4833 Everyone's usage differs, so yours might be different to mine, but I have a 720p phone (my backup phone) as well as a 1080p phone, and I can easily tell the difference in resolution - small text isn't as clear in 720p - though watching video on either phone, it becomes less obvious. So content plays a part here, as I tend to watch mostly video on my TV, whereas on my phone I view a lot more static content where resolution becomes more critical. Plus, most people tend to sit a lot further away from their TV than they view their phone screens, which also makes a difference. And if course, video compression also plays a part. I've got some high quality videos/Blu-rays where I can see the difference on my TV, but then also have highly compressed 1080p (and even 4k) videos that look worse than similarly compressed 720p videos ... all because too much compression was used for the amount of data... but I have to agree, on a TV at least - even on our 70 inch - if you have a high quality 720p video with low compression, at the distance we sit from the screen - it's good enough and not easy to tell a difference between that and 1080.

I've just got the a20e Samsung phone and it's 720p Lcd display and I can actually notice a lot of difference between the 720p and 1080p amoled screen. I thought the pls tft screen was similar to amoled and maybe better in some case's looking at the comparison's but I now realise amoled is the only way to go. It's cheap to produce now I'm not sure why mobile phone companies are asking so much for there phone's with amoled screens.

Why don't you compare apples with apples. Compare it to a Redmi with 4Gb ram and the one with the same graphics and processor speed. Why don't you use the Redmi 7 with the 2.2 processor, 4gb ram and 64 GB ROM.

The software is good. A5 pro uses android one which is way better than miui. The only thing is the updates. Umidigi does not guarantee software and OTA updates.
