IMPORTANT CORRECTION: As many of you have helpfully pointed out, I've been a dingus and said that these monitors are passive @2:04. This is not correct. These are ACTIVE studio monitors, and because I scripted it "Because these are not passive studio monitors" rather than "Because these are active studio monitors", I made a slip of the tongue and called these passive.

I think what makes these speakers a MIRACLE is the 1" dome tweeter at this price point. This is something you usually don't get unless you've spent $200+. Since they have such a large dome tweeter, they can put most of the frequency range through the tweeter which helps A LOT with the clarity.

I really feel it needs repeating. Studio monitors are the *wrong* choice for casual listening. They aren't designed for that. They are designed to be super precise for drilling into dense mixes and finding frequencies to enhance or supress, Probably the greatest Studio monitors of all time where the Yamaha NS10s. They are also renowned for being absolutely awful for casual listening. The music, the games, the video you consume are usually mastered so they sound best on conventional consumer Hifi speakers. If you want to listen as the artist intended, get *good* Hi-Fi speakers, NOT monitors. If your recording music or whatever, get Monitor speakers. Final tip. Part of what makes monitors ill suited for casual listening is the fact they focus the audio to a point in front of them where the sound will be most in phase and have the correct levels. Sitting outside that position, the quality rapidly degrades compared to regular HiFi speakers designed to throw the music around the whole room. If your recording music find out where that sweet spot is, and arange the speakers so when your working, thats where your head will be.

These speakers are nice, I have had them for like a year, but they are simply too small. I agree they are the best studio monitors for under $100, but in that price range I honestly think you are better off mixing with headphones or even computer speakers with a sub. When using these 3.5 inch woofers, the bass is nonexistent and you will need to use headphones to mix basslines or kick drums anyway. The sound is incredible and very detailed, but I just cannot mix if I cannot hear the bass. Tldr > great for the price, but you are better off with $100 monitor headphones than $100 studio monitors

I think it’s reasonable to say that they are likely the best... in their price class. But being “the best for the money” doesn’t make them “the best”. Beyond using the various products I mentioned above, I’ve also used Neve, API, SSL, Neumann, AKG, Apogee, Cranesong, Dynaudio’s, Genelec, ... Any piece of audio gear in the budget range can sound “the best” to you, if you’ve not had a chance to use, hear, and compare it to something better. I’m not saying that Presonus doesn’t make good gear - they do... for the money that it costs, you’d be hard pressed to find better. But “the best”? Hmmm... no, not so much.
