I just bought the Skil , based on your demonstration. I am selling my Bosch PTS10 which is very similar to the Ryobi , so this is very nice upgrade. Thank you for your great content.

Thank you. I have been shopping for a long time. Waiting for the right saw for me at the right moment. Your video sealed the deal, and I bought it today. I really appreciate the information about the fence and where in the comments you noted it takes a dado stack.

Have had this saw for almost 2 years…much bang for the buck…blade alignment is easily adjustable, so is the fence. It’s very easy to square up. The one thing that sucks is the throat plate (cheap flexible plastic) and the riving knife is permanent (not a huge deal but some operations are easier without) but for the money you get a very capable saw. Very happy with it.

I just did the same upgrade path except I only had that Ryobi for a week and its going back to Home Depot tomorrow. The Skil is such an amazing value for the money! I drove two hours round trip to get the last one available in the Phoenix metro area.

Literally bought the SKIL 10 inch (but with the permanent base) ... maybe 15 years ago when I needed to do some work that in retrospect would've been easier with a track saw, but those were very much more expensive at the time. Still have it, still works.
@bencomobuilds Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear! I don't own a track saw yet but definitely something I want to get one soon.

Now get the Skil miter saw. I have done a lot with my Ryobi/Makita tools but if I had to start over, Skil would be my budget goto and Flex the higher end option.

Yeah I have been thinking the same lately. Do you have any of their cordless ones? Most of my tools are battery powered

What are you using for your sawhorse top? Is that mdf or plywood? And what's the size? Thanks.

Just radiata pine plywood. I believe it was 24x48!

Thanks for the video. This is a well-reviewed saw. This is the one I'll be getting soon. Have you built an outfeed table yet?
@bencomobuilds Жыл бұрын

@46positivity Жыл бұрын
@@bencomobuilds I have a cabinet shop so I use a 3hp 220v cabinet saw but I'm wanting to do some on-site work and I'll be getting this saw soon. You might want to design an outfeed table and make a video because this is a popular saw so you should get lots of views. Also, you might want to see how it handles full kerf blades (1/8" wide) because those blades are more stable and make better cuts. But is the saw powerful enough to handle them? That's the question to be answered. Best of luck with your KZbin channel!
@billffromnh Жыл бұрын
Does the SKIL accept dado blades or are you limited to using a saw blade.
@bencomobuilds Жыл бұрын
Yeah it does. I haven't tried it yet but according to the spec it does

I hate that I have fallen in love with these Skil table saws only to find everywhere either they are sold out, marked up on Amazon way higher than I would justify it for (the whole reason I love it is the value vs. price so, doesn't make much sense to pay almost $480 for it, which is the only one in stock I currently see on Amazon), or are on back-order. I hope Skil pumps up production and gets these back in stock ASAP

Camera movements can make some people dizzy. It is better to have multiple static cameras from different angles. It's a great content, just saying the video can be better.

@andrewjames7919 Жыл бұрын
and what blade do you use and recomend?
@bencomobuilds Жыл бұрын
So far I'm happy with the blade it came with. Otherwise I liked the Diablo one before on my Ryobi and they perform well. The most important thing is to get a blade that suits your needs. If you are doing any carpentry make sure you get a finish blade. Those make cleaner cuts with less tear outs
@46positivity Жыл бұрын
CMT makes a wide variety of high quality blades. In my shop I use a 24 tooth ripping blade for ripping (201.024.10), a 40 tooth ATB blade for general purpose (213.040.10), and an 80 tooth ATB+1TCG (219.080.10) for panels when the least amount of tearout is allowed. These blades are a great value because they are well made and can be reground many times. I've used these for years with no complaints.

I'd build a crosscut sled for the Ryobi and use it only for that.

@@bencomobuilds I have a Dewalt table saw that fell off a stand and broke the fence mechanism, it was to costly to repair so I turned it into a groove cutter with a sled and a box joint blade set. Take care , I'll be watchin'
