This is the first of nine! Starting here because I used to play a lot of Elemental when the game came out, and it felt natural to talk about. I'll probably show you a medium build next! As always, these are NOT the only ways to play the classes, but definitely my preferred out here. Be sure to check the description for the Playlist link, which has gear information and an introduction to the series.

Ok yall I figured it out by fiddling on a build editor. He's got Full Zerker armour, but Maurauder's weapons and trinkets. Privateer Runes, Sigils of Strength and Frenzy. Full power infusions (this screwed up my maths for a while!) He never mouses over his food/utility buffs, but his power and ferocity is boosted more than the build editor is saying and dropped in power (but still somewhat boosted) ~30 seconds after leaving combat so it's a Dragon's Breath Bun and either Superior or Ogre Sharpening Stone!

Wooden Potatoes is unarguably the best gw2 channel. He does all kinds of videos so there's tons of veriety, but most of all he covers all the lore and the little details and conspiracies, theory crafting. That makes it the most interesting gw2 channel out there. I started playing gw2 knowing nothing of gw1. But because the game was so interesting to me i started watching his videos. By doing that i learned everything about gw1 lore, which is by itself very interesting, and that made me love and appreciate gw2 even more. Most other gw2 channels are either braggatory pvp kills, endless builds for everything, guides, guides and more guides, new player this, new player that or it's "is gw2 still worth playing in 20XX?" all of these are most of the time really boring to me. Wooden Potatoes gives me all the content that i need and it's actually presented in an engaging way. I've learned more about synergy among runes, sigils, weapon and armor attributes, traits, weapons skills and utility skills from one of his videos than any other channel or website. Thank you WP❤️🥔

Welp... from the build notes today (July 7th, 2020): "Persisting Flames: This trait no longer grants fury when using a blast finisher with a fire combo field. Instead, this trait will now grant the Elementalist an additional 1% damage for 15 seconds for each target struck with a fire field. This effect stacks up to 10 times." Also no mention of the fact that they removed the lava fount.. That was a hard nerf to take...

For EVERYONE asking what to change after the Fire and Tempest changes 9 months ago: Basically, in Tempest change the GM to Transcendent Tempest for faster Overloads, and Swap Fire out for Water 2/3/3. While playing, instead of swapping to Fire out of Air, swap to Water, Cast Shatterstone, and then go back to Air. This triggers 2,900 in heals for yourself each time, and gives you a constant +25% damage which is much more than Fire gives you. gw2skills.net/editor/?PGAFsE2aUZERsru2SLrpmRGql0kfbD-zRRYBJmoSMoBfIRJCCUKEzCweziVLbA-e

Hi WP, with the rework of some of the traits + buffs (lower OLA cooldown meaning you don't really need Frenzy anymore to have it around more or less permanently (as you'll be casting stuff like Lightning Orb as you come back to air to get the OL + Ferocity damage boost to work for Orb) do you feel Fire is still worth it on Tempest? The only value it still has imo is the Lava Font downstate (which is big, but arguably Agony will have plenty of Rally potential) because Ele has so much easy to get condi cleanse and damage modifiers to get elsewhere. I'd say for a more defensive build, going more Aura Support and slotting Earth seems pretty good. If you're comfortable enough with playing Ele, then perhaps slotting Water is best to get those two 10% modifiers + vuln duration + heal + cleanse options. Even Arcane has merit for heal on swap, might on swap, another boon on swap, Arcane Shield on swap and either EA or BP. Personally, I've been running Air/Water/Weaver with Ascended Lifesteal food and Signet of Restoration to help keep up Scholar and Water Trait.

Aria (Tempestuous Aria) is pronounced like Ah-ria, not like 'area'. Think of the line in Fear not this Night: 'Pleading sighing arias, gently grieving in captive misery". Aria means song, and so references music like some other tempest traits. Maybe that's why I love tempest so much, I love singing. This build is definitely gonna make my time playing ele in stories and openworld even better. :D

Tempest is great to play on a laptop with a small screen. You can just move around with the movable AOEs and don't have to see every tell and action of the opponent. Just keep a little distance and keep moving and try to be behind them. A lot easier than trying to dodge a nuke skill you can't even see coming on your tiny screen.

A question does the increased stun from the stormsoul trait stack with the increase stun from sigil of savagery?
@KianAmyas5 жыл бұрын
The only problem with this build for me personally is you have no stunbreak. Overloads have the mini stability, but meh. There are enemies in HoT and PoF that can stun you for ridiculous long periods of time. I like having the option to get away. For open world, story, metas, etc, I always go for 2 things I see as vital for a fun chillaxed experience: One is a stunbreak. For ele (and I use fresh air tempest for this as well) I like the Armor of Earth for its massive stability stack and protection (which is 40% less dmg because of Hardy Conduit). The second is a condi cleanse. Fire covers this good but I prefer the water. Personally I ended up with Water 211, Air 312 and Tempest 331. For skills I use the Fire Signet, Armor of Earth and usually Lightning Flash ( a teleport is always fun). For heal and elite the glyphs since they are traited. With the recent changes water is actually a good trait for dmg, the condi cleanse from the regen is really nice and it adds quite a bit of extra healing just in case it's needed. Everything else is what I do as well. The summon is indeed amazing for tanking stuff and the earth ele is, like probably everyone already knows, incredibly durable and will easily face tank most champions for its entire life duration so I prefer it over the air ele since it's cc skill seems buggy to me. There are exceptions of course, a few core champions and quite a lot from HoT and PoF are capable of obliterating it really fast. But even then it's great to have it if only to give you a little bit of breathing room. Overall, tempest fresh air is indeed a great way of playing ele for solo open world, story and metas. It's even a decent farmer if you don't have access to the more efficient farming classes. Edit: Oh and gear is full zerk of course. Scepter + Warhorn. Gear like assassins or even gear for condi builds (I only use viper atm) is good, but old story content raises one major issue for them. OBJECTS! Bloody objects immune to crits and condi. It's not fun to spend minutes pew pew-ing an object just because Anet is silly and they couldn't be bothered to update all the objects in the game to the new standards. I know it's a very very isolated problem, but eh, it was annoying enough for me to go full zerk on all power builds I use in open world or story content.

With the (idiotic) removal of Lesser Lava Font, does it maybe make more sense to use Water than Fire?

Two questions a/ what is the best healing combo with this build ?? b/ best way to upgrade my survability ??
@painbow71425 жыл бұрын
a) I don't know exactly what you mean by "healing combo", but you can attune to water, use 45 and maybe 3 then, then attune to earth and use 4 for the blast finisher. b) throw on marauder pieces to upgrade your survivability. Another option is traiting Earth over Fire for diamond skin (condi cleanse) and protection on your auras

What would you recommend for off hand?? :)

Out of curiosity, what is that aura you have that's leaving little lightning bolts as you run?
@theundeadgentleman49983 жыл бұрын
That's the visual effect of Meteorlogicus, which is the sceptre he's using. All legendary weapons leave a special footfall effect behind, Meteorlogicus causes storm clouds and lightning

@@theundeadgentleman4998 oh nice! Thanks. I just looked it up and it's insanely expensive and/or time consuming to make. Might save that one for another day...

Haven't played for a few years. What is 'break bar' on a mob?
