Hey guys! I hope you guys enjoyed the video. As some of you guys might know, I usually only post on Saturdays and this video was scheduled to be uploaded on Saturday as well. However, I decided to post this a little earlier because I know lots of new Rotman commerce students are very confused due to the COVID-19 situation. I tried my best to explain Rotman commerce in a nutshell, so I hope you guys find this video helpful. Since I uploaded this video on Wednesday, April 22nd there will be not be a new video on Saturday, April 25th but there will be a new video next week on Wednesday, April 29th and Saturday, May 2nd to get back to my original weekly Saturday uploads. Also, I said in my video that it is very hard to get 63%, but what I meant to say is that it is harder than you think it is (it is not very hard, I don’t want to scare any first years off 😂😂 Sorry for the confusion!).

Since I’m not doing COOP do you think I should try and transfer to Rotman (is that even possible?)? If not what is the difference in terms of education and life between UTSC Management and Rotman? Thanks for making all these vids Richard! I look forward to joining Rotman this fall and was super nervous because I heard UofT is really rigorous and difficult. You helped put managing it into perspective, which is really helpful. Can I ask how you manage your stress and anxiety? What did you do if/when you feel like you're drowning in academics/university?

Great question and thank you so much for you kind words👍👍 The way I managed my stress was mainly by talking to my friends and family. University life can be tough but talking about what I am going through to the people around me really helped me and they also gave me a great advise. Some of my friends like to go work out or watch a movie to deal with their stress and I think its important to find what works for you. For more information on this I suggest that you watch my other video "How to survive your first year at University of Toronto". What extracurriculars were you involved in during high school and what was your average (if you don’t mind me asking)? How did you make yourself stand out in your supplementaries?
@RichardHan4 жыл бұрын
This is a great question, so the answer to this question is in my other video "How I got into University of Toronto & UBC" but I will answer it for you in this comment as well. My aggregate average in high school was 97% and some of my extracurricular activities include working at my provincial legislative building and working as an ambassador and the main emcee in the biggest multicultural event in my province. When you watch my other video you will have a much better understanding but I think the most important thing that made me stand out from others was being genuine in the supplementary application process. Thanks for making this video! I'm planning to apply to Rotman this fall so your videos are really informative and helpful. I want to know what I would be learning in uni and prepare a bit beforehand. Thanks :)
@RichardHan4 жыл бұрын
This is a great question, so yes I would definitely recommend going over some of the things you will learn in first year before coming to university. This way it will be easier for you manage your time and you will have a much easier time at uoft. I would suggest reading some business/economics related news and just going over some of the basics of economics. Also thank you for your kind words, I am very glad that my videos were able to help. @RichardHan4 жыл бұрын
Great question, so I answered all the questions regarding residence application in my latest video, so I would highly recommend watching that video if you have time. There are definitely "studio apartment" looking dorms like Campus one or Chest nut, these dorms are much better than single/double dorms but are also more expensive as well. For more information on this I would recommend watching my older video "Everything you need to know about University of Toronto dorms". Hope the question is clear .. anyways love your content and explanations! Keep up the good work! :)👍

This is a great question, so many of my friends who want to study just economics choose to major in economics and didn't apply to Rotman. This is because economics in uoft is very strong as well (So I think majoring in economics is a very good option as well). I am not too sure if you can just choose to specialize in economics if you are in Rotman, I think the only possible options are management, accounting and finance & economics. However I am not 100 percent sure so I would suggest that you contact Rotman about this as well. Also thank you for your kind words, I am very glad that you like my videos👍👍! Hi! I'm in grade 11 at the moment and am thinking of going to Rotman. But I've been put off by a lot of negative comments about the program such as how it's very cutthroat, hard to get good grades or pass courses, and how there's a lack of career support provided by the university as compared to other Business programs such as ivey, queens, etc. Does Rotman help in finding good co-ops and internships? Those are very important to me as it makes finding employment after graduation a lot easier. As well, is the learning a balance of textbook and case based or is it simply rigorous tests and exams?
@RichardHan4 жыл бұрын
Great question, so yes rotman is hard but you also learn so much from the whole experience as well. Rotman does lack in terms of career support but many Rotman students find good jobs because recruiters know that Rotman is one of the top undergrad business school in Canada. The learning is a good balance of textbooks, real life cases and exams. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. Hi, Richard. Which school do you think is the best school for computer engineering? I currently have five options and I am hesitating a lot due to financial issues. U of T computer engineering with $0 scholarship UBC engineering with $85k scholarship/4 years Waterloo computer science with $2k scholarship Waterloo computer engineering with $2k scholarship McGill computer engineering (expecting scholarship soon) I am not trying to brag about myself. I need serious advice. I am an international student from Korea and as you may know, the tuition fee for internationals is ridiculously expensive. My original aim was U of T, but they don't give me any scholarship and have the highest tuition which is like $305k/4 years. I am kind of doubting myself about the prestigiousness of U of T degree over that crazy price. However, at the same time you know, Asian parents generally consider the ranking as the most important thing and I do also agree with that. My parents are I would say OK to pay $305k, but not as rich as those Chinese tycoons (no offense). If you were me, which decision would you make? Should I just go for U of T?
@Kyc104 жыл бұрын
If ur aiming to work in Asia after graduating, only consider the Canada holy trident schools aka UofT, McGill and UBC. If ur aiming to work in US, only wloo. If ur aiming to work in Canada, all ur options aren't bad given u know how to network.
@RichardHan4 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin first of all congratulations on this amazing feat, you should really celebrate with your friends and family on this. As you may know I am also Korean and to see another Korean student accomplish such a performance makes me proud. So I can certainly see that this is a very hard decision to make. I will be straight forward and tell you what I would do in your situation first. If you were originally aiming for uoft and if you and your parents are okay with paying the high price I would go to uoft. At least for me, if I had a goal that I was striving towards to in all of my high school life (or even longer than high school) I would want to achieve that original goal because that's what kept me going. Even if I went to a different school I think I will have regrets/second thoughts on what my life could have been like if I just kept going with my original plan. I am sure you have a very good reason why you choose uoft as your original goal and I think it would be a good idea to rethink about what sparked your interest in the first place. However I want to emphasize that other universities that you got accepted to are all very prestigious as well. So no matter what you choose, all these universities will offer you with very good education. So I say really try to choose what you want and not what you think others want you to choose. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. Feel free to contact me more if you need help. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!
