Id get the M50.. canon's color science is better with skin tones.. sure color grading can fix sony.. But.. I think Im going to stick with the canon environment.. Sony is awesome and has forced everyone to push to innovate and I thank Sony for that.. they really have solid cameras.. and at work.. I lived the workflow of Sony's FS7 and F55.. For smaller cameras.. I will stick with Canon..

@@FranklinLive I don't do videos but lens has nothing to do with grain unless it's a $5 toy lens made today. Even $20 eBay vintage glass from WWII era without coatings for digital sensors or even movie projector lens from decades ago modified to mount on camera, can output amazing images. Noise is from the sensor and processing tech. To minimize noise, get on low ISO, preferably below 400, ideally 100, which requires a lot of light. Sunlight is best. There is a reason many KZbinrs have crazy lighting setup. You will have noise with ISO 800 and higer, that's true for all cameras, even Leica.

They are comparing only 2 cameras, both of which will get clicks because they are hot items. Not ALL options. For great quality video on a budget, a used Panasonic G6 is more than enough for creating KZbin videos.

@@dennisvanderben2719 I really don't understand judgement based on specs. Not everyone needs slo-mo. Its 4k is cropped, so? It doesn't have a fixed lens, so unless you need the full 15mm-equiv FoV from Laowa 9mm, just get the lens that give you the framing you want with the cropping factored in. That's like complaining APS-C sucks just because a 35mm will only have a 52.5mm FoV. Well, get the 24mm, problem solved. Dynamic range is fine. I don't have M50, but use M5 for photography, with Leitz Summicron-c 40mm from the 70s, and the sensor is fine. Yes, for twice the price, you can get a lot more. That doesn't make this one bad just because it doesn't have everything that other camera that costs twice as much does. That's like saying Sony A7III sucks because it doesn't have what Hasselblad X1d has.

My M50's battery died right when I needed it filming the most. Twice on one trip. The A6400 has a "USB Power Supply" setting that allows it to be powered externally via USB (DC power, still uses some battery power when needed). I have a feeling I will be switching to Sony sometime in the future.

The time limit on the Canon M50 was a deal breaker. I basically paid $400 more (plus additional money for a power bank, voltage converter, and dummy battery) for the Sony Alpha a6400 just to avoid the video recording time limit.

I too would go for the M50. I have the XT3 and I very seldom shoot in 4k. It takes up quite a bit of space and slows down my workflow drastically. The A6400 still a really good camera 👊🏼

The a6400 seems like the far better choice. It shoots 4K with no crop and full autofocus. It's weather-sealed as well, which should actually matter to vloggers because people who do that are often shooting outdoors. You can always get a cheap plate or a cage to add a cold shoe on either side of the camera, so that's an easy workaround for mic placement on the a6400 so it doesn't block the screen.

A lot of people watch KZbin not in high quality, couse they watch from their mobile phones. You are getting more with the canon m50 just the price alone with the kit lens is already good to go. First thing to buy is the memory card, extra batteries, monopod and microphone. This is perfect cause HD still works for me 😊 It still depends on the budget and what works for you. I'M SO EXCITED TO BUY THE M50.

Whenever I use the Sony 6400 at 120 FPS 1080HD, I find that it really accentuates noise or light flicker in most lighting situations. It’s an amazing camera but that extra noise is just a deal breaker. And yes, I do know that the ISO is a contributing factor to ISO but I keep my ISO at 200-400 since most of my shootings happen in daylight

I am a Canon guy and have been for over a decade but I am going to switch to Sony and get the A6400. I always wanted a camera to be as fast as my iphone but deliver amazon photos. My previous camera, Canon G7 Mark II, delivered great photos but taking pictures of my kid proved too much and resulted in a much lower hit ratio than I wanted. I am excited for the new camera and can't wait to have a camera that has a high hit ratio and will deliver amazon photos. I think the main difference between the two cameras is that Sony uses better and new technology and the results are just better quality photos that are in focus more often due to the AI.

That's correct... But the sony 10-18 mm is not the only wide angle lens that can be used for vlogging... In my opinion the 16- 50mm kit is wide enough to vlog. And there are also some 16mm primes option with can give you a large aperture to shoot in lowlight like the 16mm f2.8($250)or the sigma 16mm($450) f1.4...both of them are cheaper than the 10-18mm and work very well!!!

Definitely the a6400, I have a gimbal so don’t care about about IBIS. I would get a cage to move the mic and add mount points for lights anyway so the flip up screen is not a problem. I actually prefer the flip up for mounting on the gimbal, easier to balance. The higher end features of the a6400 fit my purposes better. Good comparison, my money is on the Sony.

Obviously the A6400 is the best camera here. Canon makes a really solid camera though! I just sold my Canon 80D to buy the A6400. I love it so far!

zohair sohail it’s smaller then the 80D but it’s nothing a couple extra battery’s wouldn’t solve for an all day shoot. I was out with some friends doing street photography and was shooting for over 2 hours and still had 41% battery life when I got home. It has better battery life then the a6300 and a6500 because of the new processor.

I appreciate this. I have the Canon M50 in my Amazon shopping cart. I nearly purchased the Canon EOS 80D because of Sean, but rented it and found it was too bulky and heavy for travel vlogs. My arm was killing me in the airport. LOL I can truly see the pros and cons of both the Canon and Sony, but because I'm not well versed in video quality I'm not sure which better suits me. The Sony was a bummer after seeing that my Rode mic would block the screen and I'm not interested in buying any additional gadgets to work around that. My goal is small and portable when traveling. I'm going with the Canon M50, when I want better photos I still rent higher end cameras for that at the moment.

The overexposed image on the canon can be fixed with a ND filter, KZbin allows you upload videos 1080 so canon is the best option

I used both and bought m50. It is definitely easier to use and has a better video quality. Colors are better. Also it has I better kit lens than sony A6400 . I strongly recommend M50 esp for beginners!!

One thing you didn't mention is that the EOS-M does not provide a path to upgrade to the EOS-R. The Sony full and crop frame have the same lens mount.

Partially incorrect. Canon EF and EFS lenses will work on the new EOS R series cameras with an adapter. EOS M lenses will not. Sony α cameras use the same e-mount but like Canon not all Sony lenses are full frame. Sony lenses for crop sensor cameras will not give full sensor coverage in full frame Sony cameras which, again like Canon, must have their settings adjusted to use the crop sensor lenses.

@@cameraperv8936, at that point you are dealing with three different lens mounts for the Canon and still can't use your EOS-M lenses on anything else. The point was that Sony crop frame users could buy and use full frame glass without a adaptor if they expect to move up to full frame in the future. Also Sony full frame users can set their cameras to automatically switch to crop mode when using a crop sensor lens.

Even a year later, the Canon M50 wins especially with the new KZbinr in mind. You get high quality 1080p video for a considerable lower cost, leaving you money to invest in audio and lighting, which is just as important, if not MORE important than video itself.👍

Naaah, I'll definitely go for M50 Canon and be content on its features. besides, A6400 doesnt have good stabilization, the camera itself is expensive, plus its accessories, then you have to buy gimble to have good stabilizer. A6400 user here. Ive been a fan of sony since day 1 and I upgraded from a5100 to 6400. Its true that you need lots of money for this camera,the lens etc. BUT.THE QUALITY IS JUST AWESOME. Even if you just use the kit lens,I can tell you that its worth every cents

In Norway the M50 is half the price of the Sony. I can’t see that extra cost being worth it. I would go for the Canon if I could afford it. Heck, I’m still using my GoPro 3+ Silver 🤣😉

I was also tempted to get the M50 for the price but then I realized that the Sony A6400 is a lot more "future-proof" and worth my money. Canon m50 is more likely to go obsolete because most youtubers are shooting 4k and condensed down to 1080p. As mention in the video, 4k on the M50 is so bad because of the auto-focus and the insane crop. The speedbooster is an additional $100 if you want to ease the crop. I find myself scraping a lot of footage because the autofocus could not find me. I believe the Sony a6400 because of its low-light capabilities, awesome 4k, and autofocus. One thing I also like about Sony 4k is that it is actually 6k and condensed down to 4k, so you are getting a higher quality picture. I saved up for the Sony a6400 and have not regret it ever since. :)

I just picked up the Canon M50 a few days ago and after watching your vids last night ordered the Canon M Mount and the 50mm prime lens which will be with me soon. I upgraded from my Sony RX100IV which was a great camera but due to no audio output and no interchangeable lenses it suffered from a lot of lens case shake during my car vlogs and the rattling noise was picked up in my vids. I've since been using my Go Pro Hero 7 for all in car footage..... Have a look at my channel to see the vid shot by the Canon M50! Thanks guys!

I'm running a lawn care channel that I've just started here just outside Toronto, I'm using a GoPro Hero 5 Black currently and I'm wanting that to be a secondary camera. I've read lots of good, and to be fair not great things about the Canon M50, the more I watch about the M50, the more I tend to lean towards the camera. This video certainly helps. to me it seems like the "better" image from the sony at 5:10 and some following is just due to a difference in white balance setting. sony tends to set warmer tones by default..

I still shoot all my youtube videos on my iphone, I would absolutely love to upgrade to a "proper" camera but no one seems to be making one as yet. M50 is cheap but cropped too much and way to shaky with no IBIS, by the time you spend out on a gimbal etc. I might aswell just buy a better camera. Sony is ok but again no IBIS and that flip out screen is just pathetic! I'm most interested in the Lumix G85, it would be great if it had AF that actually worked! So looks like I'll be sticking with the iPhone for awhile yet... 😟

Dudeee same dilemma ever since a year ago. I really love the G85 package but the autofocus and image quality kinda lets down, m50 solves that but has the annoying 4k crop & autofocus and battery, a6400 seems like the perfect solution except IBIS and rotating flip screen. I have the m50 and I had the a6500. For the stuff I am doing the a6500 was overkill. I know you were talking about the 6400 and not the 6500 but, it is as close as I could come to compare. The M50 is perfect for quick set up and shoot. The side mount screen on the M50 also makes it so much nicer than the sony.

I think it's just looks incredible :D But if you look at this footage more closely, you will notice that it has really deep/wide depth of field :) The AF system is start working just at moment, when face coming close to the camera. But overall the af system in a6400 is amazing :) (sorry for my English if I made mistakes :)

I am a Sony user but between the two I would have to say the M50 mainly because of the flip out screen which you can put a mic on top and it has dual pixel autofocus.. The Sony has a flip up screen which means no mic unless you fix up a rig, and it doesn’t have ibis 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hi. I’m thinking at this moment to jump in either the Sony a6400 or the Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Camera Kit with 15-45mm lens. I’m just starting, looking fir one of these cameras to continuous autofocus and blur my background based on how much I want. Which of these two would best suit me? The Sony A6600 (Only $1 million more dollars) has built in gimbal inside the camera, called 5 axis optical stabilization (not fake scam digital stabilization). When you combine the 6600 internal stabilizer with a camera lens that also has an optical stabilizer, then you get extreme image stabilization, which would be (in theory) far far better for walking. I assume the 6600 Sony comes with a kit lens that also has a stabilizer. This is the camera I want, although an A7III also has a built in stabalizer and only cost another $1 million more dollars!

I got the Sony a6400 with a used Sony 10-18mm f4 OSS (very easy to find), $13 bracket for the mic (very small and well made) and that cheap K&F tripod you guys suggested in another video. I shoot stills with Sony cameras and wanted to stay within the Sony ecosystem, so that was a big factor in my decision. I really like the technology Sony is putting into their cameras, especially when it comes to autofocus, so that was another big factor. And also, like you guys said, the a6400 is a great camera to grow into, and I felt for me it was worth the investment for that reason. Loving it so far! Super light and easy to use, especially if you're already familiar with Sony cameras.
