What Camping Stove is the best in 2023?
Camping stoves, Money spend for nothing. Everyone got those somewhere in the garage or loft. It always seemed such a great idea.
But what is the best stove for a motorbike traveller? Spoiler Alert, the is no perfect stove. No magic bullet. But there are overall compromises who get you along way towards the perfect choice.
Follow me along , as I go through the pros and cons of each fuel system.
But in the end, its just a stove right?

I like the gas stove. Fast to oparate, doesn't smell, descent temperature that you can control and cheap. Only problem with this is that the containers are under pressure 😮 and in hot environments it could go B💥💥M

So true. GAS is so clean. I'm wearing thin leather gloves using my petrol stove to keep clean. I just made a coffee here at camp. I used up 4l of petrol just for cooking in the last four weeks, and I'm glad I chose petrol. Even it's very messy. Logistics is easy.

Good luck with your ride mate. These days it's best you make your own brew with these prices. Back in Liverpool from Wednesday on.😄

I understand the fascination doe the Trangia. No noise, no stress. Just enjoy the time you got. Its something special. Thats the reason I still got mine. Sometimes you just wanna chill 😎 even when you make yourself a coffee.

I'm gonna have to do a vid on my Soto Muka, makes utter sense to me to use petrol as you'll always have access to it, and the Muka is so easy to use compared to many other petrol stoves, no massive flames and hardly any soot. I don't get Jetboils, bulky, overly complex and too unstable. Just bought a Goshawk ERA alcohol burner - man that thing is like a rocket ship, not the best for simmering tho. Thanks, enjoyed this and gave me a bit of inspiration!

Just came back from a 100day trip. The petrol stove was in use every day. Perfect.

Very interesting take on your personal favourites, but I never understand why people don’t carry a longer lighter. I bought a very thin, gas refillable lighter so your hands are nowhere near the flame and I always have my zippo with petrol or gas head as a back up. It lasts for ages in the bag ready for lighting. With the gas canister, I used to carry the smaller ones, normally two is enough for a few days rather than two big ones, but to be honest I use my Coleman, the tank holds plenty of fuel for a few days and as long as you can get petrol you’re good to go.

Thanks for your comment. You are right. The longer refillable lighter made his way into my gear. Fuel, we'll I'm a motorbike traveller. So petrol is the best choice for me on long trips.

As for my system, I have a self made IKEA hobo stove for wood cooking, a jet burner for ISO gas cooking, and a Trangia B25 for alcohol cooking. I have the three different types so I'm not limited to my options for different situations. Also, I enjoy using the different types of cooking because I do actual "cooking" and not just boiling water to add to dried food packages (I also use them as well), and calling that cooking. I laugh when some people say "this method" or "that method" takes too long. Really?! You got something more important to do instead of taking the time to relax?! Maybe they shouldn't be out there then. Or switch to decaf if you're that jacked up.

Makes me smile talking about " the water heaters". I'm cooking all the time on my trips. I'm using my petrol stove. That's it. On my last trip I went through 11 refills of my fuel bottle. I know its sad. But I've been cooking nearly every day. Camping and cooking is essential on my motorbike tours.

@MOTOTravelUK I have a variety of cook sets as well. I take whatever one best suits the type of food/cooking for that particular trip. I mostly canoe and portage so fishing is a large part of the trips. Fried fish is the only way to go. I'm not doing boiled fish! So fry pan, oil and breading mix is a regular part of the kitchen gear.
