Best Casual Player 3 Box for Everquest TLP - Mage Edition

I ran with mage/mage/shaman for a little while. It was pretty good. Shaman slow is just so powerful early on and the buffs, heals and dots are icing on the cake. The big con to this is no good pulling or CC. You get a bunch of adds and it can be tricky. Currently doing a 4 box of SK/Bard/Shaman/Mage in the era where group buffs (bard songs panther etc) can land on pets via AA. This 4 box is solid as a rock.

Tracking helps you figure out where other players are, you can figure out what kind of camp they're trying to get. Also it let you grind a good money spot while waiting for a named. Is also a cool way to just suddenly appear next to somebody and block them and then disappear

I play on live and have mained a mage since 2001. My favorite three box is, hands down, mage/shaman/bard. For two boxing it's either mage/shaman or mage/bard.

Ranger gets tracking, they can handle snare. They can do archery and step up to tank for short time needed to summon a new pet. They can provide some offensive Buffs to the pet. imo bards dobetter at Buffing melee. You can set up a macro and headshot...

The dru do eventually get rez, mine is 115 so lol not sure when they get it as I dont remember, plus w resurrection tokens, doh disregard, Im talking live, just noticed this was for TLP, great info, I just started a bard and its great def incredible at 115, drop agro every 1 second and run speed it insane as well.

3 man: Bard/Cleric/Enchanter and add SK/Mage/(BL/Ranger) to get 6 man.

Rog can get the slow weapon as well, not sure how good it is or how hard to get but remember that was a good item. LOL might be ranger epic, but I think there is another item that has tepid deeds or some type of slow.

That would work, but any tank class needs to be actively played, IMO, to get the most out of it, so you would be spending the majority of your time on the pally.

Bard + Pally duo is pretty fun. Bard on auto-follow. Assist the pally via macro while running snare, slow, buff, damage medley. Pally pulls to a safe spot, turns the mob so bard has its back. Pally melee and stun a few times. Bard auto attack. Once mob is slowed pally can self heal easily. Very safe, but slow. I ran this duo on undead in lguk from 30 to 45. Really missing deeps when not killing undead. Third class can be a mage pet attacking on assist providing deeps, or any pet class, or ranger with endless quiver, or monk. Maybe even a rogue or zerker. Pally hp/ac buffs are pretty sweet for a hybrid class, plus a decent rez.

I can only 3 box so I would make 3 mages and get 3 mage mercs, that would be amazing lol.

@GES1985 if I get another laptop I could do 3 mages/1 bard/2healer mercs. That sounds like my dream team. In the meantime I might do 2mage/1bard/2healer mercs/1 caster merc.

Mage druid shaman. Mage Necro shaman. Honestly the mage class is the con on a trio ... selfish class and low mana regen.
