Actually Trivandrum was not colonized by the British, it remained as a princely state of the British and it's a fact thet they were very very influential in the region. Trivandrum (Travancore) was ruled by Travancore Maharajas untill it became parts of the Kerala and Tamil Nadu state in the Indian Union. For the note Trivandrum was the only Indian Kingdom which was able to defeat a European country in a war(see Travancore - Dutch war or the Colachel war)

There is a historical CLOCK on the way to Padmanabha Swami Temple, that you missed. Called METHAN MANI (Meaning Muslim Clock).

Methan Mani is a clock tower installed in 1840s during the reign of the then king of Travancore Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma on the Old Fort Palace in East Fort. A complex pulley mechanism, the clock is marked by a face of a bearded man on its dial and sheep on either side of the cheeks. An amusing feature of the clock is that as the clock strikes an hour, the sheep hit the side of the man's face, with the sound of a clock chime. It is believed that the clock was installed to commemorate the victory of the kingdom of Travancore over Tipu Sultan, making it a famous landmark of the city. This clock is clearly visible from the street that leads to the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple.

@04:15 Those are palmyra fruit. If on your Sri Lanka trip you guys had headed to the northern parts, you would be already familiar with these. There you won't see any coconut trees like the rest of the island , only Palmyrah trees.

You guys should have visited Thanjavur Big temple.. in the neighbouring state of Tamilnadu.. it is the largest and one of the oldest Hindu Temple in the world and all faiths are allowed there.. also videography is permitted outside the main sanctum Santorum... You guys should definitely keep it on your list when you arrive next time in India... I recommended this bcoz of your feedback of the temple which you could see only from so afar..

1:34 actually it's true because that's a pure hindu temple only for devotees.. And there's 2nd reason is that, the temple has 6 vault and one vault among it has 1 trillion worth gold and jewels.. Good thing is that no one knows how to open it because it can be opened only by gayatri mathram (a prayer for God) but no one knows that, it's good or government will steal the luxury in it...
