Pants are essential. I accidentally over reved my bike today, it slipped out of my hands and snatched me to the ground. I was wearing all protective gear but regular jeans. From an almost stand still I lost all material on the knee of the jeans and got some nasty road rash. Parents are allowing me to borrow some riding pants till I get mine. I run that jacket daily, it's the best for versatility and comfort. Additionally, I have it in high-viz yellow providing blinding visibility at all times and in all weather. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a steal of a jacket, good recommendation Ryan!
@garryr6 жыл бұрын
Do you find it fits according to the size chart?
@UndercoverRacer16 жыл бұрын
Sorry for late reply, didn't see this. I sized it out from the sizing chart and it fits very well. However, if you take all the liners out it will fit a little loose as it is sized assuming you want to fit with all liners in. It isn't a big problem, but the jacket fits a little poofy when I ride with vents open and liners out. I'm rather lanky, with long arms (kind of like Ryan) and it fits perfectly.

I love Fieldsheer. I picked up a FS Sugo on a Cyber Monday deal a couple years ago for a little over $100 USD. Regularly retails in the $330 range. Thing is built like a tank and was an incredible bang for the buck. I upgraded the stock Vault style CE armor to some CE2 Forcefield. Still came out $100 less than the retail price. I'm incredible happy with how it has held up.

I've used the Bell MX 9 for about 2.5 years, fits my oval shaped head perfectly. I did just exchange it for a Nexx X-patrol, mainly due to the fact that the screws that hold the visor and peak in place on the MX-9 are very poor quality, when over tightening the screws, they come apart, and its really easy to do, and really hard to fix. Last week I was in Portugal with a helmet I didn't trust would last all the way home. Riding with goggles on the motorway is doable, but not exactly comfy. And Bell doesn't sell the screws separately.

First thing first, I started watching FortNine videos earlier this year while on deployment. I got hooked on the Africa Twin Review and I am working my way through the whole collection. I get a lot of useful information out of the videos and Ryan does a damn good job of explaining things at an approachable level. Props to you guys for the Letterkenny themed episode (another gem I discovered over this last year across the pond). It looks like I am late to the party on the Fieldsheer Adventure Tour Jacket. I thought I managed to get one but it was a Women's Large and that's when I discovered it was discontinued and a unicorn. I actually called Fieldsheer and asked them what they recommended and they offered up the High Pro Textile Jacket. Ryan, have you messed with the High Pro Textile at all and would it be a good sub for the Adventure Tour or should I just get a Firstgear Kathmandu? Also, if you guys want to test a Ducati Multistrada Enduro let me know, it's a bit of a ride from where I live but it would give me a great excuse to head North and I'd be up for letting you put it through it's paces.

About Rev’ It!, they are quite affordable compared to A-stars, Dainese and Spidi and other ‘premium’ brands here in the Netherlands and their quality is as good and often better than a couple of other brands. They are very well priced and after hearing a lot of stories of riders at my local bike shops and driving school, they are way better then A-stars atleast. I own a pair of their H2O gloves and they are great! They do indeed have a weird fit, they start out extremely tight but thankfully the full leather construction started fitting a bit looser the more I wore it at the start. Size up indeed.

I'd disagree with the helmet, $300 buys you the shark explore-r, with its own (fantastic) goggles, in fact the goggles fit so well you can ride on the road at 110kph perfectly comfortably without a visor. The beak is also very well aerodynamically vented, with the visor on it seals so well and is massively quiet, and it comes with a built in buff which is the best I've ever experienced.

2:20 I am not an adventure bike guy, but shouldn't you do the opposite? Clear visor and tinted googles? At night air is moisty and possibly cold, with the visor you can be protected, during the day you use the tinted googles with the benefit of additional airflow. I might be wrong i am just curious

Yep, but your face isn't freeze-proof. You can eliminate visor fogging with a pinlock, while also keeping the air from touching your face.

I've had a Bell Adventure for a few years now and I love it. Wish they would have made the visor removal just a little easier on the new ones....at least captured hardware on the top. You can buy non-MIPS examples for about $100 US. Though my regular ensemble is Scorpion Yosemite jacket and pants (hey, I'm in SoCal, we only have two seasons), for those days when it's get really chilly, I have a 10 year old Fieldsheer Aqua Tour jacket that is still in excellent shape...they make good stuff.

Nice video. Thanks. Be good to update for this year. Also, it reminded me a bit of Andertons music shop vids where they show you how to sound like “famous guitarist X” on a budget.
