I admit out of the box its a bit limited, but with a little care mine is still running after 3 years. Upgraded to lipo batteries as im an rc guy. then i put screws through the rubber tread so it wont come off. What is really good about it is there are no proprietary parts. Its all off the shelf stuff. and super cheap to replace when needed

ooOoo I like the sound of those lipos, what volt and mAh? Have you happened to upgrade to 24v on these yet? a few diff gearboxes out there now take care

@@ChonkBob im running 2 4s 6500 mah in parellel. (14.8v nominal) All else is stock. Motor and cobtroller board dint seem to be getting too hot either. My 45 pound little one gets over 2 hours of cruising on that setup. Average speed on high is 6 mph
@dham993 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisHirner Im guessing since the voltage equivalent isnt much higher, it didnt impact the rest of the electronics..? You didnt happen to do a video on here for a how-to to upgrade to that set up? I saw some very simple ones for adding additional batteries, which only gives you longer life. And upgrading battery voltage tends to require additional steps to keep from frying your wiring/electronics. I know some motors are available to swap in too, I just want my little one to enjoy it for a bit before i decide she needs more power...she is only 18 months and right now she cant even drive it herself lol
@ChrisHirner3 жыл бұрын
@@dham99 nope no oroblem with the electronics. I did pick up a spare controller board as they are only about 15 bucks to have just in case. My setup may not be the best for most folks simply because those lipos i use are nearly 100 bucks a piece. But if money was not an issue i could make multiple parallel conectors and have it run for days. As for me i have 2 5000 mah on there now and it still runs about 2 hours before the lipo alarms i use go off. Ill link my demo vid shortly

I just bought one, brand new from someone who never used theirs. I paid $100. Was missing the remote, which i ordered a new one (along with the module for it, $25 total shipped). My daughter is 18 months, she cant drive it but LOVES this thing already. Once the remote comes in tomorrow, I'll see how well the factory battery holds up. But I'm not holding my breath as I've heard they're not great. Couple things...your review was good because its simple but honest. You did miss the fact that its got a remote option, thats a huge deal. And also, i noticed the very same thing immediately when inspecting mine...that steering box is loose. There are two screw holes as if it was supposed to mount, but there are no pre-drilled holes. My seat is also not screwed down, but there are holes for it so Im guessing it was just never screwed down. I'm going to get a new set (Im pretty sure i cant get anything for it specifically, so Il go match the lenght/pitch/etc and just buy a bunch of similar hardware). In the mean time, I'm also going to simply add another 12v7a battery using a simple y-connector set up. Its not going to add power, but it will charge in the same amount of time but last a while longer, its that simple. I ended up also removing the front wheels and steering linkage and greasing the shock areas and steering shaft area...as well as a bit of grease where the wheels mount. The metal on metal suspension is sub-par, but better than a typical stiff power wheel style set up. I think your complaints are legit. But i do think a better, constructive review would be, buy one used, not new. Then do the basic, cheap upgrades ppl do to these and you'll have a great power wheel thats remote controlled and very capable. I'm even thinking about converting to a 4x4 set up but not sure if it'll be more costly than its worth, vs just adding torque (upping the voltage system) and modifying the tires with a better grip set up (bike tires screwed on, etc).

I did miss the remote thing also it is a cool little toy and with a few upgrades it could be pretty cool I'd definatly do the bike tires screwed to the wheels

I basically upgraded mine and I will challenge anyone to a race :). These make GREAT shells to upgrade. I added 12v 10ah battery and upgraded gearbox motors. I tested with upgraded gearboxes but was not working right. Took the motors out the new gearbox and add to the original gearbox and it moves real fast. Also upgraded to 40a fuse. When you think about features, this is one of the best out there. The problem is slowness which you can upgrade. The problem is the module (computer). I replaced twice, once with a better rx18 which died after testing with 18v battery and 40v one time (yea stupid). Bought original module since it would ship the fastest and kept everything at 12v. BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR THIS JEEP. Purchased out the box, I agree with you. Its slow and dies fast but it has a ton of functions, just slow. I rather have this and upgrade the speed than have the speed and upgrade the audio/lights/radio.
