First one here! Great video! I have to be honest, I am kind of disappointed with Rome's Christmas Market. I REALLY thought they would go all out. I thought maybe Vatican Square might be full of vendors, etc. Oh well, each city has its' own custom and tradition with Christmas.

Thanks so much for being here! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, I agree both markets are not quite what you would find in the really big Christmas markets in northern Italy, but as you say, each city has its tradition and that's what we can enjoy! Merry Christmas!

Another great video Elyssa as always. Each market of Rome and Florence are so different and for us Rome looks the best especially at night. Thank you both so much for a year of great videos and advice which we used when we were in both Rome and Florence this year. From us to you both, Buon Natale, Un nuovo anno sano. Grazie per tutto il tuo aiuto.

Merry Christmas! After you finish all the great Rome videos, Milan has an amazing flea market on Tue and Sat, starts w an A and down by the canal Leonardo Da Vinci designed as defensive position. One exit south of main train station. Bought 15 Euro Futbol Jerseys for 3 euro each! Awesome fruit and prosuce market as well.

Florence Market is more like the "German" christmas markets we have in Scotland. Rome's looks small but interesting. It may grow each year. Rome has so many markets year round that you would need something special.

Yes they are so different from each other, and each charming in its own way.

Last December we went to both Florence and Rome’s Christmas markets and were disappointed. The had some nice homemade treats, but the ornaments and things looked like mass produced items. I really wanted to buy a handmade Nativity and other handmade items. We were also disappointed at the lack of Christmas lights. I had seen pictures of churches lit up with art projections, but I guess they may be in the small villages. It was still a wonderful trip we will never forget.

Yes, I understand what you mean. That's why I wanted to clarify at the beginning that Rome and Florence are not really the best places to look for those northern European traditional Christmas markets. But I'm glad you enjoyed your visit nonetheless! Thanks for sharing your experience :)

Rome is beautiful any time, but there is a certain beauty in winter, even after the holidays are over! It's also usually less crowded :)

07:45 ...sehr gut ausgesprochen :-) ProTip: Avoid this "Befana-Think" Once I ran accidentally into it. Piazza Novona was packed with people. Never again :-(

Yes, January 6 is the official end to the Italian Christmas Holiday season. But you will still find some decorations up around Rome, as not everyone can manage to take them down by then.

Wow. That's a shame about Piazza Navona. When I was there in the 2000s it was lively

Things change of course, but it's still lively and beautiful, just a little different than it was 20+ years ago...
