A bungee cord hooked on to the Shute lid holding it up is something I remember doing to my Toro years ago. Worked good and did not come loose. Thx for great video 😊👍

Finally---someone actually showed them MOWING!! Impressive. Also on the chute, why not just take a dremel and modify the chute that came with it i.e. cut the end off so the grass shoots out straight to the side instead of out and down?? Thanks for the vi man

You're welcome! Glad I was able to deliver on the mowing! Great idea about using a dremel for the chute. Thanks!

Your supposed to put the mulching attachment when you don't use the bag. It stops the grass collecting in the back

I’m reading all the reviews on this model that I can looking for anyone who has had my issue. I had bought this mower at Home Depot at the end of May and returned it because of the restrictive handle height. I watched your unboxing video. I’m not being snarky; did you ever look at the owner’s manual? The lower part of the handle (“teeth” area) is labeled 1 and 2. You are supposed to match up the arrow on the corresponding number on both sides of the mower. There are only two handle heights which do not fit me. I ended up repairing my 19 year old MM875 which fits fine. The good news is that I was able to leave a MM2000 review on the HD website to which B&D replied that they will look at the handle height design “flaw”. Thank you for your videos!

Thanks for pointing out this flaw. Hopefully they fix it. In regards to me reading the manual, I like to open products and not read the manual to see how intuitive products are right out of the box. Thanks for watching!

You can simply run the mover on the collection setting but tie up the big plastic flap by only around 100mm(or when it’s not spraying it over your feet), I do this with a hole and string, it’s bliss! Less chance of choking up and it sprays it down in lines.

Welp, I agree that this mower is great, when it works… my second one, only 3 years old, died the other day with a broken gearbox. The previous one died also at about 3 years old with a burned up winding. In both cases the repair is almost 80% of the cost of a new one. I dunno, would like to get a more reliable mower that did as good a job at mowing as this one but I haven’t been able to locate one. What would you suggest?

I'm getting into electric mowing and I think the right guage extension cord matters a lot. The bigger the better, in other words, the lower gauge the better. The wrong cord will damage the machine
@SeanWintersАй бұрын
3 years is pretty good for an automatic lawn mower. My push reel mower died after 5 and that's literally 1 moving parts.

I have this mower and love it very much. Thank you for your chute hack. I am going to try similar "alternative opening device" but with a bungee cord over to the height bar.

Just FYI if you would put the plug into the back of lawnmower and run the side discharge that came with it. It might work better. You wouldn't get the back flow.

Good to see reviews from another Louisiana Dad. We're at 5 dead Kobalt 40v batteries in 5yrs from the heat. At $120 each for new ones, it's too much to keep running. Does corded handle the heat better?

I haven't had any issues with my corded one.

@@DadReviews thanks for the update. Borrowed a 16" reel mower and I'm now realizing how comparatively easy it is to push the electric. 90+° heat used to kill my batteries, now it's trying to get me instead 😅

I was interested in this lawnmower, but the side discharge issue is a dealbreaker for me. I'll have to keep looking for a 13 amp 20" corded lawnmower. Thanks for posting.

welcome. Glad I could help you with your decision even though you didn't go with this one. I'm finding that corded lawn mowers are really hard to come by these days.
@vfpdesign4 жыл бұрын
I have an old Black & Decker that has the same problem with the shoot. I hooked one end of a bungee cord to hold up the flap, ran the cord the over the top and hooked the other end some place on the other side of the mower. However, as you said, it shoots grass all over me, so I have to wear safety glasses. But it’s finally starting to die after 15 or 17 years so I’m shopping for another corded electric mower. Would not have anything else!
@DadReviews4 жыл бұрын
Bungee cord! That's a good idea. That's awesome that you got so much use out of it. They are hard to find these days. Every company wants to be able to sell you a battery every year. If be curious to know what you end up with
@vfpdesign4 жыл бұрын
I succumbed and bought the big, bad, BATTERY Kobalt 80V self-propelled from Lowe’s, and am praying that the battery lasts longer than the 3 years for which it’s guaranteed. Lowe’s (Riverside, California) was closing out these mowers, and, after much ado and travel to Redlands and Highland stores, I ended up getting the floor model-a $600 mower for $275. Right now, they still have Greenworks battery operated for as low as $199. I was torn between the 2 Kobalts (80V) for $250 and $300, and the 2 Greenworks (60V) for $200 and $280 (considering power, battery replacement cost, and guarantee). I mowed the front yard last night and the back yard tonight-no test on the mower since it’s more than 90% dead, but with the bag, it did clean up the loose, dead stuff, and as bad as the yards are, they still look WAY better! The real test will come probably in February, after it rains and everything grows again in the back yard. My rationale for getting battery operated was that, even if it costs $400 for a new battery, I couldn’t PAY somebody to do it for 3 years for that amount, and it’s sure nice not to have to deal with the cord. Didn’t think I needed the self-propelled, either, but that’s nice, too, since I’m now in my 60s. Battery cost COULD come down in the future and/or they may have a special where you buy another tool and get a free battery somewhere down the line. I hear (through KZbin) that Greenworks/Kobalt is actually GOING AWAY from Lowe’s (online only, I guess), so that’s something else to consider.
@vfpdesign4 жыл бұрын
Lowe’s also had a CORDED one for $200 (think it was Kobalt, but I forgot), and Home Depot has a corded Black & Decker for $200, which is what I originally planned on getting. Hope my gamble pays off!

So I got this from a friend of mine. It runs for about 20 seconds and then stops. Leave it for a minute, it can start again BUT once again, 20 seconds, it stops. Any idea? First, I had a 16 gauge extension when I realized that I was supposed to get a 14 gauge cord. Could this be the cause? I brought it to a local repair place and they said B&D quoted a $2000 repair for the motor since it's out of warranty? I was told mine is 6 years old but I never even knew these mowers are THAT old?
@Henry_Jones6 ай бұрын
How long and what gage is your cord? B&D says 100'-150' not reccomended in the manual, even though you can get 12/3 gage cords up to 150' that are rated for 15A. What gives?
@Henry_Jones6 ай бұрын
B&D said not to use 100-150' cords on amazon reviews, even if theyre 12 gage 15 amp rated...go fig so I cancled my order and got a Greenworks 21" 13amp.

The most annoying part is the cord gettng in the way
@DadReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yup. you gotta go in a snake pattern so that it mostly stays out of the way.
@filmart4302 жыл бұрын
But not as annoying as needing to mow the lawn and the gas mower won’t start for some weird reason no matter how many times you pull on the cord even though you made a special trip to the gas station just to fill a gas can.

Bought this in 2021. Mower works fine but the wheels keep falling off !! This should not be a thing since wheels are from the stone age and this is the 21st century. I actually like the mower, but the el-cheapo wheel design is bad (they are not actually attached and the metal lock ring rusts), DO NOT BUY.
@delanorrosey47305 ай бұрын
What about cutting threads into the shaft and fasren with nuts?
@nancym14304 ай бұрын
@@delanorrosey4730 No, not doing that. For some reason, B&D went with bad wheel design using lockrings that rust and fall off !! I purchased some spare lock rings and spray painted them with Rustoleum, so hopefully they won't rust so fast. The wheel is a stoneage invention -- I'm amazed that this is where the B&D mower fails!
@delanorrosey47304 ай бұрын
@@nancym1430 Well, when other people that own B&D mowers refuse to do that kind of repair and throw away the mower, looks like other people with a tap and die set will get a mower for free. Much like the ones who buy a gas powered mower, run it with ethanol gas until it gums up the works, refuse to clean out the motor and do an overhaul, and just disposes of the mower for a new one.

What is the difference between the corded mower and cordless, I am just curious if the difference since I am into the environment.
@DadReviews5 жыл бұрын
cordless runs on a lithium ion battery. corded you plug in.
@youtubehaltedmybestplaylis85283 жыл бұрын
The differences are: if you have a large yard or many obstacles objects around you'll need a battery powered one so that there's no cords to get tangled in your yard. You will need spare batteries. You may need 4 or more for big yards. Cords can get pretty long but if the area you wish to cut is more than 50 feet, the cord starts becoming a real inconvenience to drag around. There's also the chance you run over the cord and well, that could be a bit of a disaster.
@dannydanny98755 жыл бұрын
How do you get to the far part of the lawn with the plug? you'd need a long extension cord and then it's not safe :-O
