Few months ago, a Friend bought a whole new PC for himself, with a 13700 and a RTX4070 Ti GPU. He brought not just his new one but also his Old PC to the Workplace we both work there, where we both and 1 colleague more assembled his new PC, and disassembled his old PC to Clean up and reassemble back the old parts, including his old Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970. When we cleaned it and reassembled it, I tried this GPU on my Workplace PC that has an i5 10400 and 16gb RAM DDR4 3200mhz. To my Surprise, the GPU worked quite well on some of my Games I downloaded with my Steam acc on it, so I just tried something ridiculous like testing Cyberpunk 2077 - I can't believe how smooth this game runs in Mid Graphic pre settings. He told me, with his (older) CPU ha was barely able to Play Forza Horizon 4 with mere 20fps at best, 2 years ago when we both played the game a lot. So I decided to buy this GPU from him, since I planned to built a new PC at Home, but didn't want to throw away my old PC parts - which are literally the same parts like on my Workplace PC, except doubled RAM. when I have my new PC, with an i7 (probably either 12700k or 13700k, since in my country new CPUs are expensive as fuck) and DDR5 RAM + MB, as well a brand new PSU, I gonna give all my old Parts plus extra bought parts and this GTX 970 to another Colleague and best friend, who helped me out financially very often in the past.

At 1440p the gpu will be bottlenecking just so you know. The 5800x is still a great cpu and since the 4070 will probably bottleneck, if you ever decide to upgrade components, just upgrade the gpu, and the cpu will be fine probably even up to a 4090

STOP categorizing GPUs as "1080p", "1440p" and "4K" GPUs! It's stupid and counter productive and teaches people to think in very inefficient ways. 1) it all depends what games people are playing. There are plenty of games where a 4060 can run 4k 120 fps. And there are games where even the 4090 struggles to keep 1440p 60 fps. 2) furthermore, even if the categorizing would make sense TODAY, it won't be in a couple of months. When next generation nvidia cards and AMD cards release, people might still be looking for second hand cards. But is the 4090 then "just" a "1440p" card then as the 5080 and 5090 then definitely will be better "4k cards" It does not make any sense. Stop it! Also, mention some links to some tests/benchmarks you or someone else has done to actually show some foundation to your suggestions.

I still run a 1080ti, since I dont game as much anymore, and I usually play older games or just graphically less demanding games like civ 6 and such. I can run them in 4k60 no problems. And no, if you use the current most demanding games as a benchmark, the 3090 is not really a 4K card anymore, when even the 4090 struggles with them. What makes it even more difficult to use such a designation is DLSS. Suddenly you can take a so called "1080-card" and run even 4K upscaled with DLSS and medium settings. Is that now a "4K card"? A parallell from the photography world (as I do photography more than gaming nowadays) is the very unproductive designations of "landscape lens", "portrait lens", "streetphotography lens". They are all bollox. Because you can use almost any lens for almost any type of photography (almost; you obviously cant use a wide angle to shoot close ups of an subject far away)

A 3090 is still capable at 4k in modern titles and therefore it can still be classified as a 4k card. The 4090 struggling with "some games" is a useless metric. In the vast majority of use cases it demolishes 4k and is built for it with it's ridiculous VRAM. A 4070 can handle 4k to an extent but not too well in many modern titles due to it's limited VRAM. It's best use case would be for 1440p. Calling it nonsensical is being pedantic. It's a simplistic baseline that gives the average and even seasoned pc builders an idea of the modern capabilities and best use case of a card. The fact a 1080ti is still viable for older games in higher resolutions doesn't negate that fact. It's just pointless to get hung up on when literally everyone knows what you're saying. They just don't care. You're choosing to be hung up on something everyone else is aware of. That's nonsensical. Dlss usually doesn't factor in as the baselines are made with the assumption of native. Dlss is just a bonus. A 4060 isn't magically a 4k optimised card cause it can run lies of P at 4k with dlss. It's best use case is 1080p because in modern titles it'll get power limited before VRAM becomes a factor especially with the 16gb variant which is pointless.

great line up. Dude is completely wrong about his advice. Telling people to get the low end versions of that gen cpu with low end mobo's. He needs to be telling people to get high end Mobos. Pair with 7800x3d chips and then resell those chips after the next gen comes out the 8800x3d or whatever they call it next. Then do that til the 9800x3d or whatever. This is the best way to save money doing that. His advice is telling them to get a low end cpu that resell for dirt. They buying a 200 buck cpu and hoping that buy next gen it not at 75 bucks. We will see. But issue also is next gen will be even high cost so if that cpu selling for more to begin with. They will be out more money.

My 5800x still held it weight with my 4070ti, but I just finally switched over to my 7800x3d and new Mobo when I drained my loop and with ray tracing off its 20-30fps higher and 10-15fps higher with ray tracing on in Warzone and Fortnite. (Max 1440p settings)

i chose a 7500f, there is definitely a bottleneck here but i can tell you from experience it can handle pretty much everything maxed at 1440p. This build allows me to get ddr5 RAM, and as stated in the video the upgradability of am5 is amazing. This setup is good if you want entry to 1440p gaming and are intending to upgrade later.

so you sticking with intel. I disagree with this choice on certain levels. First off lets look at your tech you are using. A 4070. That has a 31% bottle neck on common tasks and a 15% + bottle neck on graphic tasks in games. So when paired together with anything running in the back ground. The gpu is bottleneck even more because of your lacking cpu performance. Your gpu is a bad pair for that cpu. I would suggest the 2k series or the 3070 at most. Anything else is completely to much and you wasting your money. Next off. Lets look at what you talking about. If you can get a 14700k for 450 bucks with mobo and ram which is being sold right now at microcenter today. Why would you just not go get this. I am confused here my friend. This cpu and gpu pair love each other. They wish they would be with each other for life. O wait they could be. They don't do it fast. The 12k to 14k cpu have been out for 3 years now. This is 3 gens on that socket. AMD only did 4 gens on their AM4 socket. The 1k, 2k,3k and, 5k. They skipped doing 4k some reason...... Who knows why to confuse you I think. Now they skipped again to 7k to break it apart. So odds are they will be doing 3 to 4 gens. A new gen a year like intel did. So you will get 8k next year. 9k the year after and maybe 10k on it. If their tech isn't better by then. Socket sets limit what a cpu can and can't do. With better sockets means better performance. It is better to continue to recreate the socket for better designs. Intel isn't doing anything wrong with not supporting sockets past 3 chip generations on most parts. People always complain intel isn't making good enough products. Well with a new socket normally comes a better product line. Lets be real here. You don't really want to buy a new cpu anyway for about 10 years. This is just normally when you see a 2x difference or more. If it happens in 5 years. You spent on a very very trash level cpu.

Am4 isn't a dead socket either. AMD is still putting out new CPUs for it. Specifically the 5500x3d and the 5700x3d. I will also say the 5900x is great for a 4070.

Did you buy the best mobo you could find. If not then you are doing his advice wrong and wasting money. So here is better advice then his. Take that mobo you have and sell it and get a very nice high end mobo for that socket. Now after the next generation cpu comes out. Sell the one you have and buy a top line up on that generation. Then wait til the last gen comes out and sell it again and buy that tier up. Your gpu now will be the issue on the last gen of that socket. So sell it because it is at the end of it's life now and get the best end gpu at this point. You saved the most money and have a top tier pc for that era now. His advice is telling you to lose the most money and still have trash tier pc for that era. My 14700k will be out performing your pc with a way less cost if you take his advice with the specs you just posted.

It is core count on the cpu that is the issue here. So this guy is just a basic intro gamer advisor imo. You want to know a great cpu reviewer guy imo. Which people don't really like because whatever reason. Is techdeals on youtube. Guy states a lot of good cost to performance cpu's for today and even mentions older models all the time with tests on them for more budget people. But he gives the same advice I give. Stop buying low end cpu's if you plan is to upgrade. You need to listen to his upgrade path for price to cost. If you want to go that route on how to do it. Your current set up is fine, but you will see what I mean in the future on how you wish you would of just did the route differently. If this is your plan to move into future on that socket. I would suggest the best mobo you can buy today for that socket. This is something you want to last you 15 years + since you part upgrading. A cpu last 8-12 years anyway for a good life of it in modern tech circles. It last 10-25 years on its own basic use circles. I have a pc with a i7-2700k still gaming fine on 1080p with a 1060. Well considering it is only 7 years old I don't see the problem with that cpu. I have a 2700k. It still games pretty much any game in 1080p today with a 1060gtx. They are perfect pair for each other and I won't swap to another card with that cpu set up. It will last another 13 years no issues. I gave it to a family member for them to use for business now. Pc is a champ and does what they need in 1080p quality.

If your already on am4 and you get a deal on a 5800x 3D is your best option plus you can go up to 3090 performance while not wasting a drop of performance and I recommend ram speed of 3600mhz or better

Currently I have rx 6600xt, Ryzen 7 5800x with 32gb ram ddr4. Built this last year, so I was thinking of directly upgrading my pc after 8 yrs or so, with complete AM5 technology that’s when this 8000series cpu would be a bit cheaper and also new amd gpu 9000 series would show up, I’ll have my 1080p setup upgraded to 2k. Assume my budget to be something $2500 to $3000.

Idk why people would easily say "lga 1700 is a dead socket" and telling people not to buy it. Look, if ur getting 14600k and paired it with 4070 or even 4080, chances are ur not gonna need to upgrade it for 3-5 years, at this point it doesnt matter if u'r picking up am5 for future proofing if u keep telling people that it wont support the next gen. Bcause in the next 3-5 years u holding on to that am5 board im pretty sure am6 is out and then what? Ur telling me its not worth to pick am5 by the same reason? Exactly my thoughts. I am planning to build a new PC with 14700k and 4070 Ti Super which will be massive upgrade as I currently have a 5 years old PC with i5-7600 and GTX 750 Ti with 4 GB of VRAM. I don't have plans to upgrade soon when I buy this one. I will wait at least 4 years.
