I hardly ever comment on a video, but I wanted to share something. I’m 23 and I started crocheting because I’m very limited on what I can do for a while because of my back. I was planning on taking a class but started watching KZbin videos to learn the basics. I found your channel, and the first thing I ever made (besides a few sample pieces) was a baby blanket using the ridged ripple blanket with the moss stitch border. I believe it turned out pretty well. Your a great teacher! Thank you for creating videos and sharing them with the world.

I wish I had seen this video when I first started crocheting. You’re quite right about granny squares, they are basic things to crochet but not the simplest. I’m sure many people will benefit from this video. It’s nice seeing you get more comfortable in front of the camera. Thanks for sharing Rebecca!

I love Granny squares. They are my favorite things to make.

I started with wrist warmers! I was so happy with them, they're really quick to make and you can probably make them with any stitch you like. I made ones with double crochet with a single crochet finish!

I agree wholeheartedly... granny squares can be quite technical! Scarf or headband the best starter

Thank you for this. I watched a granny square tutorial and was quite put off by the idea. lol. I think I should like to start with matching scarves for my wife and my daughter.

Oh I have seen many beginner videos that I thought their is no way I could do that stitch or project. I started from the ground up learning to chain, then sc, and the double crochet. I have practiced with many dishcloths. I have found that you can make a lot of things with the sc and dc stitch. I have since made a couple of hair scrunchies and a couple ear warmers/headbands. I even made my first lap blanket and a couple of towel toppers. Practice practice practice

Thank you so much for doing this video! It's good to know that there are some easy projects that new crocheters can practice on, granny squares are great but like you said, you need to make lots of them just to make a blanket or a scarf. Whereas some of these projects that you suggest don't take as long and you can feel good knowing that you've completed a project. Could you please do a video on how to make a beanie for the cold days and nights, Ive heard that they can be a good beginner project.

Thank you for putting this out there! You’ve been very helpful and YES, you’ve helped lead me in the direction of expecting too much from myself and taking a step back because the feeling of accomplishment is SO SO IMPORTANT when first starting out crocheting! I feel like I got ahead of myself and now expect too much for the skills I have acquired because there’s people out there that haven’t been in this very long at all and their skills are WAY above mine! I’ve been at this (re-self taught w/help of so many great crocheters on KZbin) for a while now...so thank you for your tips and encouragement and helping me to step back just a bit!!! ❤️👍🏻👍🏻

What a great list of cute little projects. I’m not a beginner by any means but I remember what it was like to sit there and struggle with yarn the first couple of times I tried to crochet. I didn’t start out with a granny square, I started out with boring single crochet (then half double then double then treble crochet) swatches. I love all of these ideas especially the face scrubby!
@sydneyoconnor62522 жыл бұрын
Yes! This is a great idea. I started with dish rags/wash cloths bc even if they weren’t completely perfect they could still be used. My mom uses my very first fish rag that I made and she loves it🥺

Thank you Rebekah for this really helpful video. I started to learn how to crochet, as its something I've wanted to do for years. I went for a major baby blanket which tuned out very wonky. So I've decided to go back to basics and your suggestions are brilliant. I tried to do the granny square but I just didn't get it. Thanks again.

I’ve only been crocheting about a year and a half. I’ve made several throws and have a couple blankets I’m working on. I want to make a big blanket but I get bored. In between doing the blankets I pull out something small to do for that instant gratification. I make a lot of soap savers. I think that would be a good idea for beginners. I watched KZbin for the lessons but is a very easy project

Lovely to see you again. Thank you so much for this video I have found it really helpful. I have just started to crochet and did start with a granny square and although I managed to do it after a few attempts I did think I couldn't face doing lots of them at the moment. So thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I did manage to do a face scrubbie which although not perfect I felt quite proud of.

Thank you again. I noticed you mentioned about sewing threads in, however I choose to change colours on my work using the magic knot. ( I’m a beginner ). I wondered what your thoughts are on the magic knot? It seems so secure and neat and easy to change colour this way.

Oh! I did forget to say that I believe your absolutely right! It would’ve been better for me to make wash cloths or something smaller first. I suggest making a bracelet. I do mine differently, but they work. (DO the slip stitch first) Do however many chains you want, measure the size of your wrist. End the crochet, (look up a YT video if you need it!!) Then double/ triple knot it.
