PTSD is *very* different. As my therapist pointed out, the essence of PTSD is horror. Until I was diagnosed I had no idea what was wrong with me because I didn't know PTSD could do all that. The mechanics can have PTSD, but unless they saw somebody mutilated or killed when wrenching, they didn't get it there. How bad is it? PTSD is a factor in almost half of all suicides; they just want it to stop.

1:29 happened to my mum. She was driving down a motorway and the car began to cough and splutter and came to a halt. She phoned me and I gathered what had happened so I took 20 litres of petrol with me and yes the car had run out of petrol. When I asked my mum why didn't she fill the car she said dad always does it but dad was in hospital and I told her she couldn't just keep driving the car forever unless she put fuel in. She then told me she didn't know how to put fuel in so I told her to read the owners manual. When it came to driving my mum was appalling and in the end in her 80's I refused to renew her licence simply because I didn't want her to kill anyone else on the road.

I know in Virginia if you find a vehicle extremely unsafe you can call the State Police and have them inspect it. I've done it before and the customer all the sudden accepted the brake and steering repair estimate.

Good! It should be mandatory in all the States and Territories. Unsafe and cheap lunatics are endangering all drivers and pedestrians.

Cool! Here in Arizona there are no vehicle inspections except for emissions. I recall coming down the freeway from the high ground north of Phoenix on I-17. The passenger car just ahead of me on the right was doing okay until the left front wheel started shaking like a wet dog. It chilled out when the driver let the speed bleed off a bit. Whew! Glad _that's_ over! I dropped wayyyy back anyway.
