Do you fish in areas of deep water and strong current?
Areas like jetties, bridges, piers, etc...
If you do, then you know that one of the biggest challenges is getting (and keeping) your bait in the strike zone.
Predator fish, such as redfish, black, drum, tarpon, and snook are all sitting near the bottom, out of the strongest current, waiting for an easy to meal to come around, and if your bait is floating through the middle of the water column, they likely won't see it.
So in this video, I'm going to show you how I tie my favorite rig for these scenarios.
It's simple, yet effective, and will help you catch more big fish in these areas.
What's your favorite deep water rig?
Have any questions about this video?

If you tread the hook from the point side verses the back it will give you a better hook set while using the circle hook. Threading it from the point side puts the hook in a better strike position.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've learned another rig today. I will try this rig the next time I go fishing after the COVID-19 is over. I would like to premake 3 or 4 of this rig so I don't have to spend much time to rig it at the fishing place.

I want to try slideline fishing in Galveston but they have 10 ft length limit in rods. It lets you put a whole or half frozen mullet 100 tards out without hurting baif

@@markbraun3831 which beach ? Cuz I see guys with 12-14 ft rods in Galveston every time I’m there. I use a 10-12’ medium heavy surf rod with 4oz weight on a double drop rig. 4oz Sputnik’s hold great in our fast surf.

Why did you choose to use the trilene knot? Why not a palomar?
@ibieiniid4240
@ibieiniid4240 3 жыл бұрын
I also find that a spider hitch knot works really well as a boom instead of that first overhand knot you tied here. You can generally get a little bit more length out of the spider hitch, plus they just look better.

How long is the length of the leader. Weight, to hook, to swivel?
@Saltstrong
@Saltstrong 7 ай бұрын
Leader length will always depend on the desired depth you're fishing. For this rig, 12-18 inches will do the trick.

The T knot keeps the drop loop off of the leader line. Less chance of tangling.

I have never tried this, but could you cut the loop to make it one line to avoid having a double line making it too thick. I doubt that the knot would fail. Anyone ever try this?
