I’ve used the Nomatic travel back pack for 3 months. The front top pocket is not water proof- just try walking in the rain and have a look inside. The bag doesn’t stand and eventually deformed. The magnetic pocket doesn’t really clip back as the seller claimed after a while. I also feel the bag alone is a bit on the heavy side. I also find their customer service is also quite average - they don’t actively help you solve problem but takes multiple emails to push them to sort problems out. This resulted in 2 months before I receive my bag.

Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience! I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with the bag and I have heard similar complaints from other viewers recently. I have not experienced any issues with the bags resistance to water as of . yet, but I will be continuing to test it out in any heavy rain that I experience here in my city or while traveling.

Thanks for the detailed review! When looking at this bag compared to the Aer Tech Pack.....what have you found in daily use that might make one a better carry than the other? My use case is for a flight carry on, that serves as a holdall for things I need during the flight, as well as while moving around and waiting in airports. I will not use it to pack clothes, as such.

Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I'm glad the video was helpful! If you don't plan on using it to pack close its still a pretty tough choice between the two. I think the Nomatic bag is going to be better for holding bulkier items, it has a better laptop compartment (since its elevated and has a nice fleece lining and a separate tablet sleeve), and its nice that you can hide the straps if you want to carry it like a briefcase. It also has some nice features like the retractible key chain, the hardcase for the sunglasses, and the removable waist belt that might not be as useful for everyone but still nice to have. I do however, prefer the overall look of the Aer Tech Pack and its nice that it is able to stand up well on its own. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions i can help answer about the bags =)

I just visited their Facebook site and there's been multiple complaints that the Nomatic Travel Pack is not really rain proof, particularly the zippers. Can you do a water-resistance test, please?
@dannypacks6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the heads up that people are running into this issue! I had heard that people had concerns about the durability of the zippers over the long term but not that water has been getting into the bag. I have been caught in the rain a few times with it and haven't had any issues so far, but I will definitely do a more thorough water resistance test to see under what circumstances water might make it in and I will try to share my findings here and on my Facebook / Instagram as well =)

I own this bag and have travelled with it to several countries. Even under light rain, water gets into the bag, so no, it isn't water resistant despite what the company claims. My laptop and other things got wet.

Great review, I like the thoroughness of this video. Quick question. For a bigger everyday carry and potential day trip bag, which would you recommend.. the Nomatic Travel Pack or the Aer duffel pack 2? I can utilize them both, but I'm attracted to the expandability of the Nomatic and the materials of the Aer. I appreciate the help.
@dannypacks6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! Thats a good question and a touch choice! haha I haven't had a chance to try out the Aer Duffel pack but based off my experience with all of Aer's other bags it seems like it would be a great option! As for how it compares to the Nomatic, I think both bags would work well for daily use or for a quick trip. I do like how the Nomatic can be both smaller than the aer duffel bag for daily use (20 vs 24L) and then how it expands to hold more for travel use (30L vs 24L). I also think the Nomatic will be easier to pack as it opens flat like a suitcase as opposed to the duffel opening that the Aer has. The Nomatic bag also has a few extra features that might be useful such as the removable waist strap, lots of internal organization, a protective case for your sunglasses, a retractible key chain, and the compressible packing cube. On the other hand, the Aer bag has a separate compartment for your shoes and I also really like the look of Aer's bags better than the nomatic and altho booth bags are really good quaility I feel like the materials on Aer's bags are a little more durable. So if you don't care about the looks of the bag too much and you want the most versatile bag, I might lean slightly towards the nomatic bag, but i think either one will be great! Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)

Pretty specific question here: what are the dimensions of the tablet sleeve? Or more specifically, does a Surface Pro with a Type Cover fit in there?
@dannypacks5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! unfortunately a surface pro would not fit in the tablet sleeve. Thats a 12 inch screen right? I have the original surface tablet which was 10 inches and it peeks up over the edge of the sleeve and the velcro can't reach across it to secure it, so it seems like the sleeve is really meant for something like the regular sized iPad or similarly sized tablet. Thank you for watching and thats a good question! The bag is a little heavier when empty compared to a few of the other daily bags we have featured on the channel, but i don't think it is too bad and the tradeoff for the amount of features and padding you get will likely be worth it for people that have to carry alot of stuff or people that like to have alot of organization and flexibility in how they can organize their things. Great thorough review, Thank you! I’ve been contemplating purchasing this bag or the air travel pack and your reviews of both bags have been extremely helpful! Another bag that I’m thinking about is the North Face Router Transit. Have you heard of this bag? It’s a 41L Toploader that could double as a small travel pack and daily carry bag. Would love to see a review of it as well if you can track one down. Looks like it’s only available at Northface.com. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! Thats definitely a tough choice between the Nomatic and Aer bags and I'm glad the videos have been helpful! I haven't tried out the Router transit bag but it looks pretty nice. It looks like it's pretty nice quality and has a lot of good organizational options. My only concern in using that as a travel bag is just that it doesn't open flat for easy packing like the aer and nomatic bags, but that may be more of a personal preference in how different people like to organize their bags for travel. Let me know if theres any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)

@ChThuter6 жыл бұрын
I ordered one, but returned it. I just didn't like the way it laid flat against my back. The pack is kind of stiff which made it less useful for holding things with odd shapes, and the back panel induced a lot of sweating. There were a few other flaws for me personally. My laptop (somewhat large 15.6") didn't fit into the laptop sleeve, and the organizer compartment didn't have enough volume to store the stuff I usually carry in such compartments without it bulging awkwardly (normal USB mouse, phone charger, calculator, pencil case, toiletries). Also, I tend to carry 800+ pages fantasy novels, which definitely fit in the main compartment, but with my laptop charger (which is kinda large and barely fit) in the bottom side mesh pocket and the USB mouse (which didn't fit in the organizer compartment) in the other, the bottom of the bag is essentially full. Adding four A5 sized notebooks to the top, the pack doesn't really have a spot for my lunchbox anymore. Do I need all this stuff with me all the times? Surprisingly the answer is yes. I recently picked up a Rush 24. And while I'm not really a tactical bag fan, and I don't really like that the main compartment opens at the top front of it (which leaves a stiff overhang 4 inches deep, and makes it hard to take out my laptop from the back of the main compartment) the Rush 24 does allow me to store my stuff in a more convenient way. Also, I'm not as scared that the material will get damaged, which I kind of was with the tarpaulin-like material on the Nomatic. It just felt like it would get scratched easily. Overall I think the Nomatic would be a great bag for office EDC and short trips (where you don't have to access the packed stuff all the time), but for me it didn't perform the way I'd like it to.

Thank you for watching and good question! The amounts may vary based on the thickness of different things such as the socks and underwear or the type of shirt but hopefully that gives a general idea of what can fit. I'm curious about that bag, few questions... is there any good place to put a normal size (about 45cm) tripod? cause there is no strap above the bottle place on the sides. And another question, can you sort of flatten it when it's empty to fit in a trolly (some airlines allow only one piece of luggage, that's why)
@dannypacks5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! the bag itself is pretty tall so the tripod should fit ok in the main compartment, it is sad however, that the water bottle pockets don't have the strap to keep it a little more secure. As for your other question, unfortunately the shape of the bag is pretty rigid, so it will be a little tricky to flatten it down past its normal shape when it is compressed to its smaller size. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

@@dannypacks Honestly, I don't like how it looks but I'll try to rethink that... Let me copy here what I wrote on another related channel, what someone suggested me there was more of a backpack suitcase than a backpack lol, maybe you will have other suggestions (Sorry for this long one): Ok, I can't take this anymore! Please help! you are the only ones who might help me! I carry in my daily backpack a small laptop, some small chargers, cables, a gopro with a tiny tripod. but sometimes I go out to shoot some photos when I travel and I have a DSLR (Canon 70D) with 2 lenses (1 pancake, and another one of Tamron 18-270mm) For those days I add up few batteries, 2 filters and sometimes a normal size tripod (46cm when closed). During any day I might want to throw in a jacket or maybe even add some groceries (or gifts if I travel) or pack clothes for 2-3 day trip. I had a North Face Borealis (which is about 28L) and it was nice for most of the stuff but a nightmare for camera gear, I got the Peak Design everyday 20L now and it's great but when I take my camera gear or even in a regular day I have almost no space left for anything else. I'm searching for a backpack that can look small on a daily basis and have lots of space when needed, waterproof including the zippers (or have a good rain cover in it) with a place for a tripod, hopefully suitable for camera gear and can expand enough to put some more clothes etc when needed. It should be suitable for a laptop (might upgrade someday to a 15.6inch but slim) and a place to put it on the handle of a trolly (luggage) and hopefully when it's empty I can flatten it as much as possible to put inside the luggage since some airlines have limitations on how many bags you can bring. if it has some secret pocket or an option to secure the zippers even better. I know I'm asking for a lot of things in one bag but I really want to find something as close to all of that as possible in a one bag.

@@DimusTech No worries I was in the same camp on the looks for the Prvke at first haha Its not my favorite but the bag has proven so useful, durable and comfortable that Ive learned to overlook the aesthetics! Hi, I got my travel pack and was wondering how you get it to stand up vertically? My bag seems to lean forward and fall down. Does your travel pack consistently stand up in its own?
@dannypacks6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I have noticed that the travel pack tends to lean forward a bit and if the main compartment is not very full and I have a lot of accessories in the front organization compartment it can tend to tip. Typically if I have my laptop and a few of my everyday items in the main compartment it can stand up ok, but I think because of the design it still has the slight tendency. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag! =)
@TW-yh4mw6 жыл бұрын
I think you're right, the bag needs some weighted items in the big main compartment to help stabilise it vertically. I wish it could stand up on it's own to make it easier to pack and get to the quick access pocket. It's the only design flaw I've noticed after using it for ~1week, but you can always lay it horizontally. Other than that, it's a great bag and I'm happy so far. Thanks for making the vid and helping me with my purchase decision ^^

@dannypacks6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! The bag when empty is pretty heavy (around 4 lbs) and if you fill it up completely when it is expanded to its 30 liter capacity it can probably end up weighing up to 20 - 25 lbs. For daily use it will typcially not bee that heavy and with the padded straps, comfortable back panel, and removable waist straps i still the weight will be manageable to most people. I know it can be a little different for everyone (my wife is 5'1" and when she carried a bag holding 25 lbs of weight on one of our trips to europe she ended up hurting her knee so i think in her case that may have been too much weight) but i think many females will still be able to use this bag comfortably especially for daily use. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know ifthere are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

No security flaw as there are eyelets near the water bottle flaps that can use TSA cable locks through the bottom zippers This will mean you would need 3 locks just for the main compartment zippers but it is doable
@dannypacks6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and thats a really interesting point! I hadn't thought about using a cable lock there, but that would help keep that zipper a little more secure. As a south African journalist / video professional looking seriously at getting the combination of the 2 bigger Nomatics, I'm very glad to hear about this!! Thanks for very informative reviews. Like the realistic practical approach. Do the nomatics provide enough protection for camera & video gear as well? Not sure if the "general padding" of the 2 bigger bags / packs in the areas not assiotiated with laptop and ipad and on exterior is enough protection for sensitve camera / video gear and assessories? Will these bags/ packs only withstand the urban jungle or also the real bush? Like the idea of one bag for all. And on the other side convert it to my stylish workhorse. All the bags and features so cool. Not sure if the if it will hold the camera equipment safely housed outside of the padded sleeves. Are they for real taking the shoe compartment away for real in the big one?? What are the replacing it with??
