Thanks for the great review. I am currently looking at the AER Travel Pack 2 VS. the PeakDesign Travel Bag. I really love the style of AER but like the funcionality of the PeakDesign. What are your thoughts on those two bags compared to each other? Keep up the good work :)
@dannypacks

Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I’m glad the video was helpful and those are two good choices you are considering! The first thing I’ll mention is that I haven’t had a chance to use the peak design travel bag first hand so I can only give my opinion based off the research I’ve done into the bag and my experience with other peak design products haha Personally I would lean towards the Aer because i prefer the overall look, the pocket layout and the size. Even tho the peak design bag can compress down its still just too big for what I typically want to travel with. Also, I think a lot of the features and pockets the peak design bag has look good in theory but I don’t think I’d use them too much (for example the ability to hide the straps and waist belt, I almost never had the straps on my bag and prefer how you can fully remove the waist belt on the Aer bag as opposed to just tucking it away). If you are on a tighter budget the aer bag will also help you save a bit without sacrificing on quality. If you typically like a little more space or you really like to have a lot of flexibility in how you can organize the peak design may be better and peak design products are also really well made. So although both options are good I personally would still lean towards the Aer travel pack 2 as I really value the sleeker and smaller size. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags :)

Super good-looking and sleek bag! I'm a first-time backpack purchaser and am traveling for 2-1/2 weeks to Southeast Asia this year and then next year, walking/hiking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. I only want to invest in one bag, so need something that's a bit of a crossover and will work for both purposes. I like the AER and the Tortuga Outbreaker. Wish the AER was larger; the Outbreaker probably has too many pockets, and I wish the shoulder straps stowed. I'm able to get a student discount for the Outbreaker. Any advice you can give to help me break this tie is greatly appreciated!
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice between the two! Both are going to look really nice and have a good build quality. For the size were you comparing the 35 or 45 outbreaker with the travel pack 2? The 35 is actually really close in size to the travel pack 2 and although they both have a decent amount of pockets I prefer the organizational layout on the Aer. I do however think the outbreaker is a little bit more comfortable and you can tweak the harness system a lot to help it fit you really well. So if you want the more comfortable bag I would lean toward the Outbresker and if you want something with a little better organizational layout (and a slightly sleeker look in my opinion) the Aer may be the better option. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags :)

@@dannypacks Thanks for the reply! I went to a retailer to look at the Aer 2 and loved it! My only concern - will it really work for a 2-1/2 week trip? I'd choose the Aer 2 over the Tortuga 35L, but for that length of trip, am I better off to do the 45L Tortuga (or something else you might recommend)? Thanks again - really appreciate your thorough reviews!

Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! and Yes I have been able to travel with this one and I actually didn't take the waist belt with me. So far I haven't noticed any issues with the weight without the belt and I typically avoid using them if i can just reduce the extra straps and bulk on the bag and not only with this bag, but with others that are about this size I have usually noticed the waist strap isn't really necessary (I know some people have different body types or injuries that they need to manage, but for many people the waist strap shouldn't be that necessary in my opinion) Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

Thanks very much. I'm comparing aer 2.0 vs outbreaker 35. The outbreaker has lifter straps and adjustable height. Comments from other Aer customers are that it is comfortable to carry if your load is less than 20 lbs or 9kg
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 6 жыл бұрын
glad to help! and yes i'd say that sounds about right, if you were getting to something that heavy the outbreaker might be a little better at managing the weight, but even with all the stuff i manage to fit into the Aer it usually doesn't end up much heavier than 10-12 lbs in my experience haha

Thanks for the great videos! Am currently stuck betweek the Aer Travel Pack 2 and the Tortuga Outbreaker 35L. Since you have tested both, which one of them would you say seems least "bulky"? And which ones seems more durable?
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! and that's definitely a tough choice, both bags are really great! As for which is more bulky do you mean which one sticks out more when its filled up? or which one has more weight / padding / straps? The Outbreaker is a little bit wider but it lays slightly flatter against the back. The Aer is a little more slim width wise but it is a little deeper so if you fill it up completely it might stick out a little more but it is definitely not bulky (this additional depth also makes packing easier if you have bulkier items you want to take). The Aer also has a cleaner all around look in my opinion and is still my favorite looking travel bag, but both still look really nice. As for the durability I'd say they are really close and very well built, but I might give a slight edge to the Aer because it uses a larger YKK zipper on the main compartment which gives me a little bit more peace of mind. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)
@jespersandwilson5673
@jespersandwilson5673 5 жыл бұрын
@@dannypacks Thanks for the answer, definitely helps! I was thinking bulky in terms of how much it sticks out. Do you feel both bags protects your luggage equally? (on videos the Outbreaker sailcloth seems a bit more protective) Will be using the bag for 4-months of travelling, which also will include some hiking from time to time, so there is a chance it will get a bit of a beating :)
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 5 жыл бұрын
@@jespersandwilson5673 Glad to help! I think both do a pretty good job of protecting your luggage, although the sailcloth might have a slight edge in water resistance. Another benefit of the outbreaker is that it has a better waist belt and it gives you a lot of flexibility in adjusting the height of the shoulder straps which may come in handy if you are going to be hiking =)

@dannypacks
@dannypacks 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! As far as travel backpacks go, this is definitely one of the sleeker ones so even though its not small they do a good job of making it look better than many of the other travel packs I have sen on the market. Its hard to give a definite answer since the size preference will be different for everyone, but I am 5'11" and my wife is 5'0" and we both really like how the bag looks on us. Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I’m glad the video was helpful and tough choice both bags are really great haha personally I still lean a little more towards the aer travel pack 2 just because it suits my packing style a little better and it has a little better weather resistance. With that being said the harness on the set out is a little more comfortable and it’s nice that it comes in at a lower price point and it includes a really great waist belt. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags :)

Would you be comfortable dropping the bag to the ground (in the upright position) with your laptop in there? AKA do you feel the laptop compartment is very well padded or just satisfactory?
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and thats a good question! I feel like the compartment is pretty well padded and I'd feel ok if I dropped it, but I really only feel that laptop compartments that are elevated feel like they really help keep the laptop safe, so something like the Minaal 2.0 or even the laptop compartment in the original Aer Travel Pack would be a little better in my opinion. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)

@dannypacks
@dannypacks 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and that's definitely a tough choice! All those are pretty great, I would probably lean towards the Aer Travel Pack 2 as it is the size I like to travel with (so a little smaller and sleeker), I like the look, I think it has a little better weather resistance and I really like how the pockets are laid out on that one. With that being said, if you have a tighter budget the Setout will be a little bit less expensive (it also includes the waist belt) and it does have a more comfortable harness, back panel and waist belt if comfort is very important to you. Between the 35 and 45 Setout bags, I always prefer bags that are around 35L as I feel they can hold enough for what I typically like to travel with, but will also meet the baggage requirements for most airlines. With the 45L version you can hold much more but there is more of a chance you will have to end up checking the bag. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer =)

Between this and Nomatic travelpack, which compression size is better and functional to use as a daily pack with a DSLR in it? Not bothered for a dedicated camera pocket but when it is compressed can a DSLR for comfortably? Which according to you is good for both daily pack and travel out of both Nomatic and this.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and good question! I think the Nomatic bag works better as a day bag both in size and how the pockets are laid out and I think it should be able to fit a DSLR comfortably. If you think you will be traveling with alot of stuff the Aer bag can hold a little more than the Nomatic and it's also a better travel pack but the Nomatic bag is a little more versatile in my opinion. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags =)

Great looking bag. I hate that all these streamlined bags dont have a external pouch that could hold a large set of headphones. I dont want to go into the main compartment for that.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! And that’s a good point it’s pretty tough to find a bag that has a good pocket for larger headphones like that. I use the beats studio headphones now and they are pretty bulky so I wish there was some way to manage that better for sure. I do like how the newer Bose and Sony headphones fold a little flatter so they might be able to fit In some of the pockets on some of the bags from ebags or even in the front Organizer area of this bag:)

@dannypacks
@dannypacks 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice! Both bags are really good (I actually have a review for the peak design bag coming out in a couple of weeks)! The peak design bag is going to have some cool extra features (side access, configurable compression straps, etc) and it will be able to hold a little bit more stuff especially with the fact that it can expand out to 45L. With that being said i still prefer the Aer travel pack 2 overall as I think it is more comfortable to wear, I prefer the look and size and it is also less expensive. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags :)

Thank you for watching! And that’s a great point I also wish they had included the waist straps:( and the setout Divide is an awesome bag as well and I’ll actually be publishing a review for that this week! @@dannypacks Yes I actually do have a question! I've heard that Aer has a more rigid back plate than Divide and was wondering if it's more comfortable in a long-term when you're carrying a heavy loads? Or is it sufficient to carry a backpack with a good hip belt strapped on? Thanks again

@dannypacks 6 жыл бұрын
Good question! I the Aer might have a slightly more rigid backplate but I think the straps and the padding on the back of the bag or more comfortable on the tortuga setout divide. On top of that I think the waist straps on the tortuga bag are more comfortable as well so overall i think it would be the bag that would be more comfortable to carry long term.
