if your rearview mirror has power you can also purchase a dongar dongle that plugs into your rearview mirror so you don't have cables going down your dash. I use it with my dashcams and it's amazing.

It says they only work with auto dimming which mine is auto dimming but there is no outlet, guess when I get a new car I’ll have to check for that.

I just purchased the Vantrue N5 dash cam. So far, I'm very happy with it. The ONLY downside is that it doesn't come with a micro SD card.

With the tint, you have to place the dashcam lower on the windshield. Just above where the wipers sit when off or so. It works there best for the GPS and for the sound quality reflection off the dash and view of the car as if it's your view. The interior view has your rearview mirror sort of interfering with it. High up they're not as great because of most cars and trucks now use that top tinted area. Still, might have to pick me up a couple of these for both of our cars. Our cheapos barely do like 720k, if not 480k..Walmart specials...so not a great cam view by any means. Thanks for the link and the review, Mike. CHEERS

On the S-Classes there is a roughly 12x12 inch square below the mirror (unseen by the naked eye) that doesn’t have the super-tint..allowing gps/cellular signal through in that area. Its in the manual somewhere :)

You can adjust the exposure on the cameras in the recording settings to compensate for the dark window tint

Check your Manuel. The s class has a cut out on the front windshield for radar detectors and ez pass. I'm guessing it'll work with gps too

So I do have a question now, since it records while driving, is it necessary to have it play simultaneously on phone? I mean I know that is a nice feature, Does playing at same time on phone cause the high temps on front cam? and if we stopped using phone would the temps go down ?

You can turn on the speed display in the recording settings, it will also show gps location, also you can add make and model of vehicle plus license plate number

Is it me or does the Vantrue dash cams freeze frame a lot? I’ve had two Vantrue dash cams and they all keep freezing. I’ll look at the dash cam only to see that the picture is frozen on a view from 10-20min ago.

It only films in 4K when using the font camera only. When using the rear and/ or the cabin camera, the going camera drops down to 2160p.

4:56 fake 4k, you can't read that license plate. It's just another camera with the most common sensor with upscaled video to 4k. I literally have the same image quality with a cheap sub $100 cam, that I bought 6 years ago. Once these cameras will be able to read license plates at a decent distance, that'll be a game changer, but until - just another dash cam with the average sensor. Even the inside camera is not 1080p, that's 750p upscaled. On the positive side, $299 for 3 channel camera with GPS and WiFi is a good price for what you get.
