The supply of fish in the seas is NOT being threatened by people in sailboats catching fish to sustain themselves. However, those HUGE sea going fish factories with MILES long nets that're raking in EVERYTHING that gets in the way are a major threat to ocean fisheries.

"Reading the Book" Nice to hear that old sailing term. Well done Brady.
@jaysmith60134 жыл бұрын
Imightberiding What does it mean?
@Imightberiding4 жыл бұрын
Jay Smith It's an old sailing term used when you have your sails out to both sides of the boat when running down wind. It is also called "reading both pages". You have your jib fully out to port or starboard & your mainsail fully out to the opposite side. Looking at it from the helm it looks like an open book with both pages fully open on each side. Hence, "reading the book " or "reading both pages". It only happens when running down wind at your back in relatively calm seas. Hope that helps. Cheers

How is the journey and story almost over? They have been traveling for 8 years with many different crew members? In first 6 years of sailing making money and posting videos on youtube wasn't even priority. Just a year or two back Brady and Josje were gone for 9 months making money sailing on massive mega sailboats. New crew has already sailed with them and aren't with them anymore. Babs, Frida, and Max never intended to stay on the boat for an extended period of time? Josje is the shocker. The journey will continue as long as Brian wants it to.

1Tane55 Amazing that you came up with "giving up." A nice analogy would be human trafficking. I personally don't do anything that contributes to human trafficking. Yet by your logic, if I continue to lead my life the same way I have, I'm giving up on the problem. Therefore, because your logic is flawed, my attitude on the subject doesn't need changing. The human trafficker's attitudes need changing.

@charonstyxferryman4 жыл бұрын
Tomatoes and veggies require a lot of fresh water - and they only has a power hungry desalinator (water maker), and saltwater will kill off the plants. The crew would of course use fresh water, but waves would deliver saltwater. Next problem is where to put them - is has to be outside where there are sunshine, and in bad weather - violent waves, which will remove everything that aren't lashed/secured to the deck.

Doesn't the sqeaking of the wind turbine turn you guys crazy?
@MrZrryan28 жыл бұрын
a vessel under sail is ALWAYS noisy... creaks and groans and thumps... the wind turbine is just one more bit of background noise, I suspect. Although if I was kiting-out a boat and setting off, I would likely have more solar and one of those new "torqueedo" water generators/electric motor combos (and I would bring wind generators, but i would save them as a last resort back-up). Remember, however, that they are in need of their last resort back-ups at this moment because things have broken on previous legs.

Love the new intro, and info on fishing. I knew Josje, had left Delos, yet it was still sad to see her leave, I know it had to have been hard on Brian. The Indian Ocean stuff is very interesting. Love the sailing.

why don't you hit the fish with a stick first to make it faint before cutting?

fish don't have nerves so they can't feel you cutting into them so it does not matter

I feel like that whole energy changed when Babs joined your trip. Not sure having an extra added anything to your crew. I know it’s three years ago but for me I am binge watching from the beginning.
