The faces are beautiful, but as a cabinet maker and a utilitarian, I was really hoping for a more creative solution to efficiently fitting the drawer boxes into an angled space. I don't know if there is a good solution for that. Also, I was surprised by plywood drawer boxes. While I have no problem with them in general, they seemed a little out of place on a project that otherwise seemed to be a level above that. I'll give it to you that they fit the modern aesthetic, but I think you could save money and up overall quality, but just ordering solid wood boxes from Rucker's or whoever. They barely show up in the video anyway.

Sir i believe the angle is product of few mistakes along the way and smart improvisation when things went south in severe manner during this project. Happy go lucky i would say. That's the most beautiful desk I've ever seen. The narration and camera work was a refreshing change from other woodworking vids. I'm blown away by your ability to flawlessly execute - and even gloss over - the things you know so well, and then go further out of your way to humbly acknowledge the nuances of what you've been learning. I can't believe the desk is still listed for sale. Update: as of February 2023 - 7 months after listing, 2 months after this comment, the desk sold for $6,500.

The author does like to kzbin.infoUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

But, in my opinion, the difference between their videos and yours is that you have somehow managed to map your thought process along the way in designing this piece and then merging that with interesting visuals that are relating to where you are in the project. Hands down the absolute best overall "how we did it" video I've ever seen. You should be very proud and probably paid way more than you make for these type projects.

So much about this video impresses, from the beautiful piece of one-of-a-kind furniture, to the meticulous camera work, to the wry humor and disarming self-deprecation, making the in-depth narration even more interesting, and on and on. Even the video description impresses, annotated with time-coded index and product links. In short, the video itself, is as much a work of art as the desk build it documents. Very happy to see that (as of this writing, on April 30, 2023) this video has 1.9 million views and overwhelmingly positive comments. Congratulations.

This desk is as close to 'functional art' that you can possibly get. The lines and silhouette are beautiful and don't compete with the slab. They work together like partners. Well done. BTW, the hex hardware certainly adds a feeling of quality and provides an upscale touch, regardless of whether it is a big step up from screws or not. Details like that matter. Keep up the fantastic work!

The design is absolutely gorgeous. I hope I'll be able to buy one of your pieces in the future. 7:10 - That is an accurate description of every "youtube tip" from the last 10 years: something random makes a video popular, everyone tries to integrate it, it becomes broad "knowledge" about having success on YT, even tihough no one actually knows the real impact and everyone who tries it have no discernible results from other videos. Then it turns out to just be a lucky break, a long-time result of people liking the youtuber, or actually just the only bad part of a good video. But don't worry, i really do enjoy the slo-mo of the epoxy mixing and definitely am not replaying it over and over on a second silent tab just to mess with you.

Personally, and this is no criticism, I'd love the desk with a top the colour and same wood as the base, I think (personally) the slab is quite heavy looking and with the natural edge etc takes away from the beauty + quality of the base. I like that your designs are beyond the box. Breaking the traditional mindset. It’s a renaissance of the 60s with updated flairs. Good job

I loved the galon/litre comparison alongside with the currency equivalences.... thats a plus and sort of more international approach

I like the fact that you do the extra steps to make it more durable and hopefully last as long as an expensive piece of art should. Which is a very long long long time. Keep up the great work guys..

This caught my eye in another of your videos so I had to come and watch this one! I LOVE this desk! If I used an office anymore I’d buy it! Oddly….I’m a wanna be woodworker. I’m a retired woman of 67 and would have loved to learn this trade as a younger woman instead of getting a Ph.D.! 😜 so…. I recently got into building miniature furniture (1/12 scale) and I am building only modern furniture. I’m replicating many of my home pieces which are all Scandinavian design. My 4 year old granddaughter is loving my furniture so I’ve decided to build her a dollhouse for my pieces. I think I will need to replicate this desk in 1/12 scale. Maybe I can even find a 3/32 slab of wood with a live edge! Thank you for such beautiful pieces and videos!

This is my first time on this channel and I can easily say this is one of the best videos I have ever seen. A truly remarkable job done on both the desk and the video. Can see myself spending a lot of time in the future watching all the content.

I've never been much of a DIY guy, my dad didn't teach me basic car maintenance stuff and I just didn't get close to tools. But I've done some drawing (I was pretty good) when I was a teen and I'm doing part time photography - so I guess you could say, I have some vision in aesthetics. Recently I've been thinking about doing some work that is both mentally demanding but also profitable. My brother mentioned wood-working as a great type of work, which could make me whole. I've been watching videos for days now, I'm going to let the content sink in, maybe ask some experts out in my area about the opportunities and maybe get into the profession itself. This might be the most beautiful desk I've ever seen.

I don’t know why this video has been on my YT feed. But from time to time I watch some wood work video. But I’m not a wood worker at all. Im normally that YT watcher that never likes video or leaves comments. Just leaving this comment here because I will feel bad on not likening the video or leaving a comment on amazing work you have done on creating the desk and making this video. Keep up the good work amazing!!

That has a very chic, mid-century modern look to it- and it is gorgeous.
