Shitting on George Lucas films is still somehow sheik or hipsterish. When will this fad come to an end? No-one brought the essence of comic books, pure exuberant visuals with SUPPORTIVE dialog, more to life than George Lucas. Stop acting like he nailed your sister and then dumped her. The guy made "American Graffiti." Shut up already about the sand and the Prequels. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is a good film because it closely resembles some of the best elements of George Lucas. Where there's mimicry, there's greatness.

+InsameFameNYC Yup, monologue, and breaks the pacing of the movie. That film seems to have some appeal to life long tarantino fans, but without being predisposed to the rambling and broken pacing (and TERRIBLE shots), there's really nothing there. All that opening scene does is introduce the most meaningful character in a way which under minds her believably, thus making the whole movie feel more like a parody than anything else. It's essentially a not-funny attempt to at a Mel Brooks film. I don't regret seeing it a couple times, but definitely won't be going back.

Yeah, love Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (I miss when Val Kilmer was a thing), Black's got a hell of a resume, also wrote a childhood favorite in the Monster Squad, plus the Last Boy Scout, and of course the Lethal Weapons, even the Long Kiss Goodnight was pretty damn good. Only two I can't attest for are Edge and AWOL, everything else on his list was good to great.

Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange and Dr. Strangelove are what everyone thinks Quentin Tarantino is but isn't. Quentin Tarantino's dialogue be overrated yo He has a lot empty talking (talking for the sake of talking) while good dialogue like A Clockwork Orange reads like poetry or a classic literature book where every line is significant, makes you think, and develops the story

Stalker (1979) should be here. I love the long, flowing monologues in Stalker. The musings on art, desire and life are transcendent in this one, a masterpiece that asks more questions than it answers (as should always be the case). The dialogue is extremely effective here, always symbolic, a powerful showcase of the inner peregrinations of some of the greatest characters I have ever seen.
