Yo Taylor just picked up the ML Plexi(Sounded really good to me) and Fluffs 2C (also really good too). The CB4 was really really close to snagging at Black friday sale. Sounds great here!

Finally a CB4 review that's not djent but a metal that I consider 'normal' and play myself. Really helpful. The sound is nicely dirty and cuts through the mix very well. Gonna try it out. Many thanks for this video Taylor!

Totally agree though. I didn't want to buy a new amp sim, but it was just too good and a VH4 is one of my favorite amps to listen to

This sounds way better than the ACTUAL VH4S I owned. Haha! Looks like you had fun with this one.

SO MUCH FUN. I love all their plugins, they always surprise me with how good they are lol

You probably just need to re-tube with Diezel Authorized / matched tubes. If you re-tubed it, not using that method, it now sounds like shit.

Thanks for a thorough and honest review. Killer playing 🤘🏼🤘🏼. Really glad you dug it. Quick note in regards to the shootout, most modelers (incl. this one and tube amps ) can have different pot tapers... so simply matching settings might not be the most accurate comparison. Nonetheless, great video and I’m glad you liked it 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't ever match the settings, I try to dial them in by ear to the best of my ability. Sometimes they do get pretty close with the same settings, but I've learned over time that if you always dial them exactly the same, often you are doing one device a disservice.

It's weird, I remember feeling very meh about the diezel models in all the modelers I own, so I never really messed with them... But then after this plugin I'm considering changing all my main patches over to the VH4 in the axefx LOL

@@TaylorDanley Yeah I totally had the same experience lol. My current jam on Cygnus is the Das Metall amp boosted with the grind input boost, and an Ownhammer Diezel V30 IR. It is so sludgy and tight at the same time!

I have already tested some of Miko's plugins. The plugins sounds good. I even recorded some projects with it. Now I use only my AxeFxIII. In my opinion, AxeFx is still the best. You are abel to fine-tune the sound.

Sounds great soloed but in the mix demos I preferred the AxFx and the HX stomp for some reason the plugin sounded kind of muffled. The new cab section on the ML though is really a killer feature.
@KPGuitarStudios3 жыл бұрын
Very strong plugin, sounds literally identical to the Axe FX. HX Stomp sounded a bit flat. My go to now as well 🤘
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
For what it's worth, when I was dialing in the HX, I remember thinking "this sounds terrible..." but I was pleasantly surprised when I put it up against the others. It wasn't that bad!

@@TaylorDanley Haha, Line 6 sounds awful by default but has good sounding options sometimes 😜 You did good!
@dimerocks1233 жыл бұрын
The plugin honestly sounded the best out of the 3, in my opinion. Had this sort of throaty growl that I like. However, the others really are close enough to not really matter. The difference is very small. And with a little fine tune EQing, you could probably make any of them sound like the other. We're so fucking lucky to be able to have these $4k+ tones for seriously ridiculously small fractions of the price of real amps.

I did a comparison of the plug-in and the version contained within the valeton gp-100, I used settings I found purported to be from Adam Jones. I love ml stuff, but at least on my guitar I found it quite a bit bassier compared to the version in the valeton. Love all the options out there

Yeah those smaller cheaper units can only do so much with the processors they have. Great value, but they are limited in some regards.

@ganglu3 жыл бұрын
To me, it definitely sounded better than the Line 6, but not quite as good as the Axe-FX. It's pretty close though and considering the difference in cost it's impressive. Looking forward to what they do with future releases.

@MineralVW3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, I absolutely agree with you. All of these plugins have become so good today, that nowadays there are so minimal differences in sound between Soft- und Hardware. I've tried a lot of gears and spent a lot of money for the plugins. And then... I went to the AxeFx.
@apoplexiamusic3 жыл бұрын
It would have great to also have the Brainworx and Amplitube 5 in the comparison. In my experience the Brainworx one can sound quite good but it requires a LOT more time to dial in and you need a third party IR loader. I just got the Amplitube 5 one and i think it sound amazing with a good overdrive in front. It is quite a bit tighter than the Brainworx one, kinda like the CB4 from what I’ve tried.
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't have so many plugins anymore to compare it with. But I figured a lot of people have the hx stomp, and some have or have heard videos of the axefx, so I figured those would be decent baselines. I tried the ampero too, but I was having issues so I rage quit on that one LOL

I bought an ART studio V3 tube preamp to add true tube warmth to my plugins, and Amped Ark (was my least favorite) sounds sf sick! 99.99 and it makes my amp sims and practice amps (gtx100 and Katana mkii) sound exponentially better in my opinion. I highly recommend it for those that have to have a lighter rig due to neck/back injuries.

Sounds very good, closer to the Helix than the AxeFX, but still a very usable tone, in the full mix, the diffence is only perceptible in the high end and very slightly at that. I‘d be interested how it would sound against the real deal.

@@TaylorDanley Judging by the prices, these go for in the US, it should be about as rare as a Soldano... I´m German, these are 3000€ here and still rare, I don´t know anyone owning a VH4. I own a Herbert, I know a guy who owns a D-Moll, I know a guy who used to own a Hagen, but now VH4 anywhere in my expanded musician peergroup... So I´d guess, getting your hands on one in the US would be like finding a mint Dumble...

I am hearing a less canned and filtered quality, and more organic low-end information, to produce a more organic, cohesive, real-amp sounding model. Beginning with products like the H&K Zentera, the history of amp modeling identifies a steady progression of innovation in new modeling technologies, which keep getting better. I do not doubt that this latest V.O.R.N.A. innovation in modeling technology does in fact produce a superior model, and it does to my ears. Seeing as new modeling innovations are currently in development, it would be exceedingly useful and appreciated if the KZbin guitar ecosystem were to review the history of modeling, current amp modeling technologies on the market, including emerging technologies in development, and identify what makes them different, and theoretically better than another. Cheers~
