I picked up the Revv G3 recently and must say I love it, it is truly great, and went beyond my expectations in all honesty. It's made me start practicing more because it's such a real tube amplifier feel, (probably the realest tube amplifier playing feel I have played yet), and I am using the set-up amp-less, for recording. I also own and played a Vox handwired tube combo mic'd up in my studio, for a long time, but needed a heavy sound and it's there now. Fantastic.
@Metalhead98011 ай бұрын
you use it as a preamp/in fx loop?
@aaronspaulding-ross59811 ай бұрын
@yigit980 Sadly no, I'm waiting for the day I can get my hands on a proper high gain amp head. I'm using it on my pedalboard but mostly with my UAudio Engl Savage 120 amp emulation within my console, for recording. Luckily it still does a decent job with that but I seriously need an upgrade for those songs I'd like to make a serious demo with.
@slavesforging53616 жыл бұрын
really liked when ola showed the sound on the camera mic too! it was only then that i looked to see where he mic'd the cab. wasn't surprised to see it out towards the edge of the cone. he's warming up and smoothing out that rather harsh tone expertly with his choice of mic placement! definitely worth mentioning. otherwise you get a sound more like the camera mic. of course, we don't know what his amp eq was on. his clean guitar didn't sound mushy, so he likely had the amp eq'd towards the super bright side. he got it pretty close to sounding like the full rev g amp. very nice!

Both pedals are very Tight when chugging along and for my half ass soloing abilities the Tight Metal won again. The G3 is a great pedal no doubt,the quality is top notch but it wasn't for me for what I was needing..I plan on getting a Revv Generator 40 or 100 watt version head when I can save the $$$$ for it.so might be a long time !

To me, it sounds a lot like the Boss Turbo Distortion, and faintly resembles HM-2. The gain character is very similar, the distortion is tight with this upfront attack and hits hard, which is great for metal. Maybe not the tone I would go for if I wanted looser, messier distortion like the Metal Zone or Mega Distortion.

here we have the Randal Satan amp with a Demon speaker cab. i'm using the Murder-X tuner and the brimstone of Able's death instrument cables for better tone, and the new Daddario Christpuncher strings for a choppier mid-range. to remove some of the fuzz i used a Beelzebub 666 death-matic equilizer set to the Antichrist setting with the Sin knob at 6.66 oclock, give or take. For that tighter crunch, ive used a hipshot blaze-core blood-fister whammie bar that stays in tune better than the floyd rose. the dymanic chromatic company sent me a very special spine-grinder metal-apocalypse microphone that feeds into the Uterus-hell-carnagelucifer interface, complete with the bonemaggot feedback reducer and a Fallensoul style godmascerator setting that emulates a Brain-cannibal Quake-rape amplifier tube screamer through a puppy-princess under-drive with a little crunchviolator reverb to brighten the highs a bit. DX was nice enough to provide us with the Blood-hurricane iron-paracite corpsethrone shredding chair, complete with seatbelt and dragonspore sharktooth dismemberment inlay on the adjustment knobs for the lumbar support. sponsored by our patrons at St. Junipers hospital, where people matter.
