Thanks for the down to earth advice. I'm a "retired" engineer and getting up to speed on all the esoteric information is daunting.

This is an interesting list, but I disagree that board passage rate should be the metric for how good a school is. Passing boards is important, but it's really in service to getting into a residency. Schools vary a lot in the amount of support and opportunities they provide for students to help them match into residency, so to me the 2 metrics that matter are overall match rate, and percentage matching into one of their top 3 choices. That's harder data to identify, but a much better gauge of a school's ability to prepare students for their future career.

I agree but it would be hard to find those metrics. I would never gauge a school by a standardized test but just though this was interesting.

Board scores are a huge component for successful matches.

I love all your videos! I am applying this 2022 cycle and I am really interested in DO schools. I have few questions tho, I hope you see this and can give me your opinion, how should I balance my medschool list? Should I apply to 5 MD and 10 DO schools? I know the majority of this depends on my GPA, Mcat score, budget etc but idk if I should be like 50/50....Aside from this, does living and being puertorican puts me on a disadvantage? I am considered out of state right? Or International? I know these questions make me seem very inexperienced but in PR the counseling for medschool is very poor. They only give you tips for Caribbean schools. I would really appreciate a reply! Thank you ❤️

It seems that you know a lot. My question is about EVMS. Are they mainly accepting students from Hampton roads?

All medical schools will prepare you for your boards. It really comes down to location and tuition cost.

I’d go there, but idk much about it. I just am from California. My advice is go to a school where you’d like to live.
