This is what you get for taking someone who dont know jack shit about Dota and putting them in such a prominent role of the show. Makes no sense to me. Even if it was just for the "WOW BOOBS!" factor, then theres other options, who actually know the damn game they are working with. She was a bad choice. She did well with what tiny knowledge she had, but she was a bad choice. They should have gone with someone who knew something about Dota, theres plenty of them out there, some of them even have boobs. Go relevant next time please. Or at least put her through some sort of game/team-bootcamp. It would take like 2-3 days, tops, to teach her the teams and she would only really need 1-2 days being taught the game, she dont need to be an expert player to interview the pros, but she does need to know who the pros are. Can you imagine this in a big sport event? "So you say your name is Michelle Schumacher? Oh Michael, my bad."
@TheQueHegan10 жыл бұрын
You are either very young or simple a very childish adult. The choise for Kaci was not for 'boobs' or whatever puberty term you want to use for it. It was exposure. This woman works for friggin Fox. She is a legit reporter and an anchor. People who before knew nothing or cared nothing about Dota were introduced to it via Kaci. It was a major step for competetive Dota in that it actually managed to get a (minor) tv personality to do interviews and the likes. Her interviews were top notch(as to be expected), she was a huge favourite with the viewers and overall did an excellent job as a first timer. Using this troll video as an argument for your points just goes to show you in fact have no real point and are really whining for the sake of whining.
@narfle10 жыл бұрын
TheQueHegan I wasnt using this one video as my argument, this video just illustrates it well. I sat at home and watched TI3 live on stream and she was cringeworthy. "You are either very young or simple a very childish adult." Because im against of how game companies try to sell their games via sex? Have you EVER been to ANY games con? Have you heard of the term "booth babes"? Its a disgrace how some parts of this industry considers ALL of us braindead overhorny teenage virgins and just slaps some titties on their subpar games. And the worst part? They get sales by doing it. Her interview were NOT top notch. Her interviews were cringeworthy. It was a person who didnt know the pros she were interviewing in a game that she didnt know either. Thats cringeworthy. As for your claim about exposure, then you must be a full on idiot, no offense. Dota 2 is the most played game on steam, which is the biggest digital distribution platform for games (an industry with higher profits than movies) in a time where physical copies of games are rarely sold anymore. Exposure? Dota has it. It has actually kinda had it since Dota (1), with Dota being comparable in popularity in china to Broodwar in SKR. But they got a minor tv personality from Fox? Hallelujah! They could have had Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie presenting it if they wanted for christ sake. Do you think it was some tiny backyard event? And you consider that a "major step for competitive dota" that they got some random minor tv personality to display a complete lack of knowledge about the teams and the game? You must really think little of dota, because you lack information. And the absolutely dumbest part of your entire reply was how you entirely disregarded me saying that she did good with what little she had, but she had too little to do good with and they should have spent 3-5 days educating her on the coming task. It was also kinda dumb of you to miss how the "omg boob" thing was me showing disdain for how the industry views its customers, but im assuming youre either an alcoholic or from USA. Two population groups that consistently display an inability to understand sarcasm. They should get Kaci to do the red carpet for the Oscars next time, provided she dont know any actors of course and havent seen any movies. It would be a major step for competitive acting.
@TheQueHegan10 жыл бұрын
narfle I would suggest you calm down, because as your post continued, it became less and less coherent. The only thing you're doing is looking more childish, and i doubt thats what you want. You still hold on to this 'she was there for the bewbs' mentality. Thats why i called you childish. You ranting about how you disdain objectifying woman in the gaming culture is completely irrelevant, so i don't really know why you went on that little tantrum. Are all women involved with e-sports only sex symbols? You cry for someone with actual knowledge to have done the interviews. What if it was Soe? Oh wait, those darn boobs again.....i guess she wont do either. Dota 2 does not have enough exposure. Compared to LoL and even certain console shooters, Dota 2 is in it's infant shoes. It's growing insanely fast, , but it could always go faster. Having someone like Kaci at TI accelerates that proces, so why would you be against it? Her interviews were great. The conversations went fluidly, she barely missed a step and the players themselves were obviously comfortable talking to her. She only needed to ask basic questions to get the players to expand on it. Perhaps she didnt fully understand the answers herself, but the viewers did. For further analysis, we had the analyst pannel. I assume you're joking about the Freeman and Jolie part, so i'll ignore it. I don't know why you keep trying to deny that having Kaci at TI was a big step for Dota. I have rarely seen professional news anchors or reporters or the like at LoL or Starcraft events. It means that Dota is an attractive enough product to do this, which as i said before only leads to it growing more.
@narfle10 жыл бұрын
TheQueHegan "You still hold on to this 'she was there for the bewbs' mentality." You really have some reading problems. My complaint was that even if they went with her because shes female, then there would have been better alternatives. "You cry for someone with actual knowledge to have done the interviews. What if it was Soe? Oh wait, those darn boobs again.....i guess she wont do either." Soe would have been PERFECT because she would have had expertise related to the task at hand. Do you even read what i write? I will make it really really simple. A) I did not like how Kaci did not know anything about the game or the teams. B) I would have preferred if Valve had either given Kaci a 3-5 day bootcamp on the game and the teams OR if they had picked someone with knowledge of the game and the teams. Do you understand? No, i was not joking about Freeman and Jolie. Go look at the finances. I will now explain my Freeman and Jolie point as slowly as possible, so maybe you will understand it. You argued it was a major step for competitive dota to have a "minor tv personality". I mentioned that Valve could easily have gotten way way way more popular "personalities", who had similar expertise in the game. And i REJECT your idea of having Kaci at TI being a big step for dota, because it is wrong. Kaci is a tiny fish, Dota is a huge whale. Do you understand?
@TheQueHegan10 жыл бұрын
narfle But that simply means your complaint is irrelevant, as she clearly wasnt chosen simply because she was female. If they wanted a pretty face and a nice set of tits to do the interviews, there would have been far better alternatives than Kaci. She was chosen because she knows the field and it showed in her interviews. YOU may not have liked them, but the vast majority of the viewers did, so much so that they pleaded to Valve for having her return at TI 4. As for having someone like Soe do it, i will again point to exposure, which i think you don't fully understand what it means. Having an inside person like Soe, Merlini, Godz or whatever do such interviews would be fun for us Dota players who follow the competetive scene and know these people. Thats good and all, but it does jack shit in terms of exposure. Exposure doesnt only mean that Dota has a broad staging point via Steam. It means actively trying to lure in new people who never heard of it, bringing it to places it's never been before. I'll give you an example: When Kaci was announced, a lot of people were impressed that Valve got a proper reporter to handle the interviews and the like. When Soe was announced to be handeling the interviews and the like at i believe it was Blizzcon, the WoW forums were filled with: '' Who is she?'' It brought peoples attention to TI and Dota. And yes, i keep to my argument that having Kaci at TI 3 was a major step for Dota. LoL and even nonsense games like CS:GO are treated like the pinnacle of gaming, and it shows in the professionalism of their tournaments. Should Dota want to eclipse them,it has to constantly 1-up them. And having Kaci at TI was a step in the right direction. And to humor you: Forgive me for not thinking Morgan Freeman or Angelina Jolie would take time to host an e-sports tournament. What ever could i have been thinking. Not to mention the cost of such a joke would most certainly not warrant it. I doubt Kaci is asking millions to be present at TI 4.
