Orient Bambino is nice but the hands are too short. I wonder if making the minute hands longer is something that increases production costs in a way or another. Re dress watches I think it is where you can really go vintage, as water resistance is a moot point. Anyway consider that in the summertime, on hot and very humid days wrist perspiration can fog a watch that has no WR

I like the seiko sarx045 and 055, although the second one is probably out of this price range. I also like a roast beef sandwich with all the fixings, which although technically not a watch, still has more horological significance than a DW or a Michael Kors.

Couldn't agree more on The Baroncelli, that is one gorgeous watch. For Tissot, I really recommend Tissot Heritage Sovereign, It has a strong vintage dress watch vibe.

My first Swiss watch and indeed my first Automatic watch was a Longines. I paid right around $1000 for it, probably ten years ago now while on a business trip to Switzerland. It's a wonderfully slim watch which always seems to attract compliments whenever I wear it. Probably gets the least amount of wrist time of the watches in my collection but I'll always have a fondness for it with it being my first.

Teddy, great video with excellent affordable watches. Really glad you showed the Seiko Cocktail Time with that beautiful dial. I saw one with a black patent leather band and it screamed dress watch. Of course a great option is restoring a vintage 60’s Omega with a 551 movement or 563 with calendar function (I’m working on one now and a great option for under $1000 and some leg work). So many good watches, so little time.

Straight up, obviously all these makers trying to all hit different fronts and cover bases but man, I have gotten lost on the dress watch end with the offerings from Rado, Mido, Hamilton, Longines and Nomos. They really have strengths there and will tear you a new one! In your wallet... but fair value without being as pretentious and unattainable in game XP as the bigger players. And truly at least on soley the dress side, have a better array of designs IMHO. Teddy nailed it.

I bought and returned the Timex Marlin. I thought it looked and felt cheap in person and did not warrant $200. The 34mm case also looked to small on my 7.25 wrist. This was disappointing because I have several Timex in my collection but this one just wasn't meant to be. Think my next purchase will be a Tissot or Hamilton. Good video always enjoy your posts.

I love my white dial/ blue hand Orient Bambino. I pit it on a plan black strap. Its perfect for me. I also love my SARB033. But I agree it gets a ton of attention. Happy you went with less popular(some anyway) watches for this video.

All excellent picks. I have the Visodate in gold and I would also add the Tissot Le Locle to the list. My L is non-COSC, but usually stays within COSC. Those have dropped to around $400. Glycine also offers a moonphase automatic at around $500 on the grey market. I'd like one of those, but I keep picking up vintage Omegas instead.

Great review. I have a dilemma. I am shopping for an everyday watch. I am business casual for work and more conservative/mature casual vs cargos and sneakers outside of the office. I recently decided against a 40mm flieger with a lug to lug of 49.5mm for an everyday watch... it just seems it would be too big on my 6.25in wrist... I am deciding between the white visodate and the Sarb (either color). If the Sarb was still ~$350 this would be a no brainier but what which is better buy for everyday wear (Visodate $399-450, Sarb $469-550)? Thanks!

You should check out Christopher Ward, they offer a lot of variety in this price range and really great service. They just did a half off sale on a lot of their watches. Would have got a couple more if I hadn't just bought a house.

The Mido looks great, i love their Commander datoday. I think preowned Nomos Ludwig or even a good deal on a Tangenta. The Junghans looks great, i really like their designs. There are also a lot of deals on Maurice Lacriox dress watches on the grey market for under 1k$.

I would add Ball Trainmaster Legend it is a killer dress watch now it is on jomashop for 599. I mean, you can't get any better than this. The Balls do have similar fit and finish w the likes of oris, longines, tag, and may I say, even omega at times.

Presage is baroque compared to the SARB. I'd like possibly a SARB 033. Stowa is really consistent in all its designs. It seems the best, although my pick would be more of a pilot style watch from them. Those Tissots are not bad at all, but the minute hand is definitely too short. Max Bill is nice, but isn't it an acrylic crystal? Too easy too scratch. Ok for vintage, but from a modern watch I'd expect sapphire above $150. Many people in NYC i see wearing nice suits tend to wear Rolex Subs or similar. Younger people / millennials on the subway wearing too many oversized homages to dress watches. There are some Seiko SARY models that are newer than SARBS but I do not like them as much. The day + date kind of ruins the balance. Probably I'd pick between Sinn, Nomos, Stowa. Rolex Explorer is really nice too, like the SARB 033 but better, more interesting dial.
