Three ideas, ... 1. Make sure to put a drain (if needed) so line filled with water won't freeze and brake. 2. It would be nice to also have a gravity feed too. 3. They make a small RV pressure tank (like those on a home well pump) and it makes it nice to have some water without the pump having to cycle...

Just a tip for those of us that find we needed 1 more step on the bit. If you can’t get the hole in plastic big enough but can screw the piece in, you can heat the metal up just enough, then you can thread that through without distorting the plastic. No bulging and it will fit in much better.

I'm trying to build the same system. the female qd fitting you listed seems to show a hole all the way through. I would think there needs to be some type of check in the qd to leave it closed until male is plugged in. That way the water doesn't come out? What am I missing here?

Hey there Kramer. I'm coming here from Drew Simms channel to see what you did with the water tank. And now, I see. @@KramerJunction the only thing I didn’t see on the list was the filter you used before the water pump. Would you be able to direct me in the right direction for a filter? And I seen on the website for the tanks, that they have a new (10GAL) slim style tank. What would your thoughts be on the slim tank? I do like the one you have cause it is slanted which might work better than the slim tank, I just want to keep as much room in the rear as possible.

Nicely done! I'm interested in the same tank for a similar purpose, so your video is spot on. Hey, I did a quick check on that switch because the wire gauge looked thin to me. It is max 5A and the pump is max 7.5A... so you're underrated on the amperage on that switch... might want to replace it with a beefier one (alternatively, you could install a relay and just use the switch to trigger the relay instead of the pump). Thanks for all the links too!

@@KramerJunction Awesome setup! Would there also be a concern for residual water in the pump freezing? Especially given the pump’s location.
@KramerJunction
@KramerJunction Жыл бұрын
@@resolutejku haha yes 100%. I’ve actually had to repair the pump due to water inside expanding and cracking parts. I actually removed the water tank a few months ago because I spend most of my time in freezing temps and the pump is constantly frozen. I have gone through the thought process of how to winterize the system, just haven’t cared enough to do it. In a couple months I will put the tank back when the threat of freezing is gone

Did it. Works great! One quick note, and it's probably something you've experienced: for the connection from the faucet to quick disconnect piece, one is NPT (truncated) and one is NPS (straight) so it won't thread completely, but with enough teflon tape it will not leak. Just in case someone else tries and sees that that the threads wont fully seat.

how can i fit a water purifier between the pump and the tap to kill nasties? Using ultra light purifier?
@KramerJunction
@KramerJunction 3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t looked in to this so I can’t tell you which filter would be most appropriate and far as what works with the tubing and pressure the pump runs but my initial thoughts are you would probably want the water to go from the pump to a small accumulator tank and then a filter would be installed inline somewhere after that. Drawback is it would be a bulky setup and I don’t think you would get any type of usable pressure out of it as most filters work somewhat slowly. I don’t use the water in my storage tank as drinking water but if I do ever need to I carry a large water filter made by sawyer that filters a gallon of water at a time in a few minutes.

The pump isn’t hard mounted, but it is basically wedges in place in that void space and with the tubing coming in and out it is pretty solid. It was actually quite a pain to get in place with the pre-filter on and short length of tubing going to the outlet.

Does the pump have to work harder being so far from the water supply? I think this is a great idea. I just worry about the life span of the pump in that location. I definitely like how you thought it out.
@KramerJunction
@KramerJunction 3 жыл бұрын
The section of tubing in my system is 5-6' and the pump is intended for RV use with runs of tubing much longer than what I'm using so it's actually quite over sized for what I'm using it for. I have the pump wedged in place pretty tight so I don't worry about it getting banged around, but it's definitely dust and potentially wet in that area. Funny, I was camped out the day you made this comment and I accidentally left the pump on and it ran dry for hours...I opened the water, turned on the pump and it's running perfect like nothing happened. I think the pump was only like $60 so if it does fail after a couple of years then I honestly can't complain.
