I thought it was interesting to see him build that because I first saw that done on your channel a few months ago via the Minimalist Overland Jeep Kitchen Setup. I was checking out that video before I went to Death Valley and Alabama Hills back in March. Good to see the knowledge being shared among others.

Nice build, Drew. You should use the Raptor liner on the drawers and other wood, instead of staining and sealing it. It'll add an extra layer of protection, and looks great too.

I grew up in my father’s tool & die shop starting at age 12. Everything was clamped down and the feed of the material was by manual crank or automatic. When i started woodworking I was terrorized by pushing my hands towards an active blade but I created some awesome things. I then became an orthopaedic surgeon and spent 38 yrs treating saw injuries. There are tools to minimize injuries and I hope what you showed to inexperienced people doesn’t hurt someone.

Hey Drew- my name is Erik and I’m a full time traveler - living out of a Teardrop Trailer. I was hugely inspired to hit the road, in part, by watching your videos. I darted over to Salt Lake City today, because it was advised to me to see Antelope Island before heading up to Idaho. As I was watching this video tonight, I heard you say you live here. If you’re around SLC today or tomorrow- and would love to meet a fan, I would be ecstatic/humbled/and honored to meet you.

Love your travel videos, I have done a much less elaborate sleep platform in my JKU so I was intensely interested in your build. I learned a lot. (mainly that your carpenter skills are far superior to mine), I spent a summer in that jeep after I retired, now I'm the primary care giver for my parents, so there is a lesson there in the timing for adventures. Cease the day! And thank you for one of the best 30 minutes I've spent on You Tube.

He will rot out his floor of his jeep. It's supposed to breath. He's really stupid. You can't just start spraying sealant materials and laying down non breathable things on a whim. Especially inside a vehicle where moisture accumulates. It's not a truck bed, which breathes.

Also, he Installed a snorkel but now has no way to drain and clean his floor . This is a clown show. It's embarrassing.

Loved the level of detail of this build. When I had a Wrangler - I was super attracted to the Smitty Built hardtop, but read so many bad reviews. I totally thing w/ the big overlanding push, there would be a market for a better system that had a robust integrated rack system (that could be added), as well as fan/vent system, etc. Such a great idea - poorly executed.
@miamihurrfreak01762 жыл бұрын
Can we get an update on the Raptor Liner over the Kilmat? How well has it held up? Is it flaking? Would you spray it again? You added extra Kilmat to the driver and passenger area would you install more sound deadening elsewhere? Like the back seats or trunk? Doors? Firewall? Would you put carpet over the killer and Raptor next time? Or install Armorlite? Thanks for the awesome video.

Those hardtops are actually still for sale, but not under the Smittybilt brand anymore. I believe Patriot Fastbacks bought the design from them not too long ago. If you look up “Patriot Fastbacks Adventure Top”, you’ll see that the Land Rover-style hardtops are still for sale for Jk’s and JkU’s. (And now even for the JL series). However, they did a small redesign of the 4 door variant, probably to fix the infamous leaking issues they all originally had. The formula for the 2 door variant however looks exactly the same and is unchanged from the Smittybilt version. Planning to get one of those tops for my 2-door one day 🙏 Those alpine windows are absolutely gorgeous and remind me of my buddy’s old Kalahari D2. (Before it started chewing head gaskets for breakfast anyways)

Hello Drew, long time. Its always great to watch your videos doesn't matter if its a beautiful nature or a jeep interior building, always loved the framing. I just had a small thought, you could have coloured the wooden ply (something black or dark brown) or use some rich quality wooden material or something, because right now it is looking little less perfect (not like your amazing, perfect work). Cant wait to see more....its always great pleasure to see your work. Keep posting. Thanks. Cheers.
