You're putting in the eggs incorrectly. The wide end of the egg has more air in it and that's part you're supposed to pierce and place in the rack with the pierced part on top. If you pierce the narrow (pointy) end, the white will bulge out of the egg as it cooks because there is more albumin close to the shell on the narrow end.

What I've noticed with the Dash is that timing varies depending on the size of the eggs. It seems to be very consistent if you use the same size egg with the same amount of water each time, so experiment the first few times until you get it right, and then you can set it and depend on the alarm to alert you when it is ready.

I watched this video after I already bought the dash 6 egg cooker. I was worried my omelet wouldn't come out after seeing the disaster yours was but mine made a great omelet! I haven't used it yet to cook the hard-boiled eggs or the poached eggs yet, but I already love it!

Well done! I would definitely buy the Dash! Thank you for being so thorough and precise with this much needed information. 💝

I purchased “Cuisinart," from Bed Bath & beyond about two months ago. Even using pot holders, I would constantly get burned from the steam. I had another Cuisinart that I loved a few years ago, but it started leaking & wasn’t working well. This new Cuisinart does boiled eggs really well. As long as I poked holes at the top of the egg, using the hole poker, the egg was very simple to peel.

I do not need the frills, all I want to do is be able to boil eggs quickly and easily. I have the Elite Gourmet, which is virtually the same as the Dash. It works well and I am very pleased with it.

I think they all are very similar. Some shutoff automatically and some you have to actually unplug every time. The last one I bought a fancy stainless unit from bella is supposed to shut off automatically but it does not. I'm gonna return it and go back to my old Hamilton Beach unit for now.

I am a DASH fan, and have quite a few different OJ darts . I really like my little DASH egg cooker. I don't really have a use for the poacher or other dish. For boiled eggs they are great.

The Cuisinart was not tested properly. It's operation requires the eggs to have the 'fat side' of the eggs upside. It should work well that way.

Actually, look in your instruction booklet it tells you exactly the amount of water and it will cook it automatically you don’t have to time it, the buzzer goes off when it’s ready. I’ve got nothing but excellent results on everything with my DASH.

I very much enjoyed this video. I bought myself the DASH, as with all of these egg cookers you have to be able to know want to give it a little more time if you want it cooked more, it’s no different than any other method of cooking.

If you can find the Watts I find 350 or up the best anything below is usually a dud. Many say auto shutoff but then come back on automatically at random. Its dangerous. As for steam burning you once or twice is all it takes to learn to avoid this. I only use mine for poached eggs Hamilton beach. I would recommend it overall butbit does have its drawbacks like the condensation issue and the little plastic knob always breaks off after a few uses. I just learned to use without a knob on the poaching tray. Beware many of these with auto shutoff often dont work correct or randomly turn themselves on! That can be dangerous. Some company could come in and design a fool proof auto off unit that just works always every time and clean up the market of all these subpar mediocre units.

Whaaaat? You didn’t even use the Cuisinart one right!! I’ve had half of those machines. The Cuisinart one is absolutely the best one for hard boiled but I completely agree about the lid. I have to use oven mitts.

Dash Express for the WIN. 7 egg capacity and perfect eggs ($19 same as basic Dash). Omelets should always be done in a real pan period, lol. Thank you , great vid.

Easiest to clean? Also, some of us are looking for an egg cooker for breakfast, so we're not going to be cooking 14 eggs or anything like that. I think it's a tie between the maxi matic and the dash. I don't think the copper chef was a winner at all. There's no freaking timer, right? I am looking for something that shuts itself off. Also, what about the sound of the timer? I heard that the dash is like a fire alarm going off. Could you let us know? Thanks. Great job.

I've had an egg cooker that looks exactly like the dash for 15 years. This video is misleading and the eggs were not pierced properly. There's no timing involved with several of those cookers. just add water according to the indicator on the cup and let it go. Seems like some of them were made more difficult than it had to be. There was definitely some user error, maybe something was missed in the instructions. Hamilton Beach burning, thanks for that heads up! A steam burn is just awful 😢 I totally agree, all those manufacturers are really stretching the truth calling the eggs and omelette 😂 they're steamed scrambled eggs. In my experience, it's easier to make an omelette in a pan. Did you try steaming vegetables or dumplings?

As for your comments on the poached eggs, they don’t have to be liquidy, you can have a poached egg well or soft. I know when I have my eggs Benedict I don’t want the yellow stuff running all over everything. Poached just means that it is submerged in water, it has nothing to do with the doneness.

Do any of them have auto-off functionality? Meaning, can I set it up and then leave and come back 20/30/60 minutes later to eggs that are not overdone? (And the buzzer not continuously going)
@acoustic40373 жыл бұрын
Be careful! Many of these type cookers will turn off, then turn on after cooling down. Then off , then on... until you get back to the cooker to turn it off, or until your house burns down. Terrible design. I just got copper chef cooker that does just that. You must be there to baby sit it or risk an eventual fire hazard.
@AKValle263 жыл бұрын
@@acoustic4037 that's annoying I'd pay top dollar for a cooker that was "set it and forget it" Being able to shower or walk the dog while the eggs cook perfectly would be so helpful for my mornings

Avoid the Bella stainless egg cooker it says it has auto off but it doesn't or sometimes it does but then comes back on randomly later! It should be recalled in my opinion.

Seems your Test Kitchen could use a little help understanding EGGS ..... 1.) NEVER , NEVER , EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BOIL " FRESH " EGGS ...They almost always STICK to the MEMBRANE between the inside Egg parts & the Shell itself like AlienTape ...Use Older Eggs that've been in the fridge for a couple weeks ... ( don't worry , eggs have a long shelf time ). 2.) After boiling Eggs immediately set into an Icewater Bath ... Once they're Not Hot to the touch anymore , but still not Cold Yet , ( just a couple mins.) take each Egg out and tap it on the counter on it's side & give it a roll with some palm pressure on it & return it to the Icewater til good & Cold .. Do this with all of them ........ 3.) Effortlessly peel the eggs...... 4.) If for some odd reason you are still having trouble with shell sticking .. Just take a pint jar fill it halfway with Cold Water , put an Egg in jar , put lid on snugly & shake vigorously , ( NOT TOO VIGOROUSLY THOUGH , you don't want to destroy the egg ...) The Egg should Be Peeled For You ...Reoeat for the rest of the Eggs ... If you want to hear EXACTLY HOW TO BOIL HARD BOILED EGGS IN A POT FOR THEM TO BE PERFECTLY COOKED & SHELLS TO BE SNOOTHLY & EASILY PEELED , I SUGGEST YOU SEARCH OUT " COLLARD VALLEY COOKS " TUTORIAL ON HOW TO BOIL EGGS ...HER METHOD COMES OUT PERFECT EVERY TIME............ YOU'RE. WELCOME.....

And why do you need so many eggs, if it’s just a couple of people or even if you have a couple of children the dash would be your best bet. As for the omelette being under cooked, that was your fault, you probably didn’t whisk the eggs enough, and I usually put a little bit of milk in with the eggs, it produces a fluffy delicious omelette. Mine was .
