Is this the best performance ever of Rosalita? I don't know. But it's gotta be a semi-finalist at least.

I feel so sorry for anyone who didn't get to see Bruce in the pre-Born in the USA days. I saw him on this tour -- San Francisco, Winterland, Dec. 1978.. He played, Petty played and the Grateful Dead closed it forever on New Year's Eve. Bruce played Santa Clara Univ. in 1975 -- we figured the covers of Time and Newsweek had been bought, all marketing. We walked in cocky, waiting to find it was b.s. -- and we stumbled out blinded by the light. NEVER, EVER anything like those early concerts.

I would argue that very few songs or pieces of art in the history of the world have been so jam packed such sheer, unadulterated joy. Seriously. This thing is bursting with so much damn joie de vivre, it's totally infectious and wonderful. And when you hear the audience singing along mid way through it just makes it. What a pleasure.

I saw the tour at Winterland in San Francisco in Dec. '79. As you said, it was the classic tour. It was Bruce...3 days later, Petty and then the Grateful Dead closed Winterland forever with their annual NYE show. In 1978, people would say to me "you're madly in love with Springsteen" -- but there was nothing sexual about it for me. Was like having your brother's best friend back in town, everyone was coming to party. Amazes me as I watch now . He's the best kind of sexy: not trying to be!

I love whatever he has done and still does. For his age and how long he's been at it, he is beyond fantastic....some say he was still "hungry" at this point..perhaps...but I don't think he's lost the hunger to perform one HELL of a show, a LONG show for his fans, the ones he says he "looks into their faces each night, picks one person to see the expression..not just a mass of people." Thus, he has legions of fans, very young and much older.

first time i ever heard of Bruce Springsteen, a coworker told me at one point in the concert Bruce and Clarence went to opposite sides of the stage, ran together, slid to their knees and met center-stage with a kiss. i'd freakin love to see a video of that. but this one is awesome

I feel fortunate to finally have seen him for the first time in November. 3.5 hours, 29 songs and such passion, power and energy. 30 years of fandom. I realize he was something back then but still appreciate how he puts EVERYTHING into his concerts and enjoys himself immensely. As we were leaving, my 10 year old nephew (big fan) said, "If music were religion, Bruce Springsteen is HIGH CHURCH".

No one can substitute or come close, but I saw Jake play in November and have watched several clips. I think he is doing one HECK of a job and knows he could never fill his uncle's shoes. Bruce obviously thought he'd do a great job or would've done something else...that is what counts. I don't know if I could stand the pressure of being Jake..so many people saying, "It will never be the same! How we miss him!" 2 yrs later. Thankfully, Bruce knew what to do..keeping in the family is great.

Not the first time the boss and the big man kissed, they both openly say they love each other and I for one see nothing wrong in that as I have several male friends who I kiss when greeting or parting from, and love dearly, they are the people in your life who never ask did you do that or why did you do it, they just there as normal no matter what, they are called true friends we have all been married, have kids but never think any thing is wrong with kissing like that. The love between two people takes many forms and not always sexual, its just some peoples perception that's skewed. Would it matter if they had been gay?? Not to me just love the chemistry and music they give us.
