There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

One of the problems with that thinking is you're not taking into account the most powerful enemy of God and man is blinding/deceiving the minds of unbelievers. Because they do not know God/Jesus, they blame him instead of blaming the one who is the cause of all suffering. Your right it is god's plan for that house to burn but not the one true living God. The purpose of the god of this world (satan/the devil) is to seek and destroy. He did it with Adam and Eve and has been doing it every day since then. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

People have the wrong idea of the source of the whole entire universe. Think of it like this, we are pure consciousness and science is starting to be able to prove that. Our thoughts and emotions create our reality. I love quantum physics because I've experimented myself and definitely proving it to be true that our mind, our thoughts and our feelings free our experiences. That's because we have a subconscious mind and however we wire our subconscious mind, will then be projected outwardly into your reality giving you experiences whether they're good or bad. So where does this powerful creativeness come from? If we are creators then it's plausible that there is some sort of powerful source in the universe that is pure consciousness and creator of this universal experience. The Bible is not to be taken literally. The Bible is purely mind science. If you look at it psychologically then you will begin to see an understanding in a totally different manner. We are the universe, and science is proving that too..

@@RM-ov8gk I know a lot of people who claim to know a god, and even claim to know the same god. Funny enough, every single one of them also claims their morals match their god's morals, even if their morals don't match in significant areas. It's what you'd expect if no gods were in existence or if any gods that could exist, didn't care, and people just made shit up to cater to themselves. A grandparent who absolutely thinks gay people are sinners who will burn in hell and claims absolutely that their god will do so to everyone who dares love someone of the same sex, while another relative absolutely believes that's not literal and gay people even if they engage in heavy sex with one another and love one another to the alter, will get into their version of heaven as long as they are convinced their god is real, if not, then to hell they go. Others think their god is tossing natural disasters around because women aren't being submissive to men and making babies nonstop, and again, amazingly all of this always has to do with the believer's own personal morals, bigotry, ignorance, lack of education, and upbringing. If a god were responsible and bothered to actually have a real set of standard moral rules, everyone would know the rules as the same even if they went against their own personal moral compass. (Look at how many Christians have changed their moral compass with society's growth and education rather than remaining with what their bible tells them. Like the bible never telling them not to own people and telling them they can own people and how to own them and who they can own. Christians used to use this as an excuse to justify slavery. Now they ignore it, say it's old testament, say it's only for ancient people, say it's taken out of context, and say it's a not meant to be taken literally, etc. Not because their god or bible changed anything, but because they're different themselves and understand things like owning people is wrong, immoral, disgusting, etc. Unlike their bible and unlike people a hundred plus years ago.). So someone claiming to know a god of any kind, is only making a claim. No evidence of it, no reason to take it any more seriously than a kid claiming their imaginary blue dragon is real. The kid next to him might also claim it's real, but has a greens snout not blue. Same difference in concept. It's all made up.

When they don't have answers and feel backed into a corner they look for any way any opening for them to say that you're attacking them and being mean and disrespectful. If you speak slow and calm, think about what you're saying and make sure there is nothing that could be taken as aggression or anything similar then they won't be able to so easily go into victim or persecuted mode. Ask why this is what you think and listen to them.. offer to research whatever it is together or consider things together They'll still get angry and defensive and then say that you are the one that's angry and it's all down hill from there. My advice for all young people and everyone else really. Number one, never discuss your atheism with religious people who have a holy book. It will never end well. Two, play along with your family at family gatherings, pray with them over meals, bow your head etc. Just don't agree to go to church with them. Say you're too busy etc. Three, only discuss atheism with those who are really and truly having doubts about their religion. And even then be careful. They may be trying to con you and bring you back into the 'fold'. Some food for thought: You'll never see a debate between two different sects of the same religion on which sect is the correct one. IE, you'll never see a debate between a Lutheran and a Baptist over which sect is the correct and real Christianity. You'll never see a debate between followers of two entirely different religions on which is the correct one. IE, you'll never see a debate between a Christian and a Muslim on which is the correct and true religion or which is actually following the true God. You'll never see a debate on if the bible is true or not. Christians will never allow their holy book to be criticized. Instead they'll deflect and turn the conversation to if there is a God or not using their holy book as their main source of knowledge and the complexity of the universe as proof their God exists. If any atheist actually insists on exposing the nonsense in the bible, all Christians will end the debate. The journey from believer to non-believer is long and tedious, heart breaking at times. Yet it is unavoidable for those who truly question everything and cannot be told no, to stop, to just believe, just have faith, that humans are too stupid, foolish, childlike, to understand the mysteries. There are several types of Atheists. One common type I call the 'It's all BS atheist'. This type is often a Christian who gets angry at someone in the church, usually when they are young and usually an authority figure is involved and they just quit, calling it all BS. This type often returns to full faith in Christianity in their adult years. Personally I consider myself an 'Agnostic Atheist', meaning I don't know if there is a God, and I don't believe in one. To truly avoid being sucked into a religion like Christianity, or to escape it, IMO you need to really understand all the lies and BS involved in the 'bible' in order to avoid ever being pulled into or back into it. Some good reading on the subject: The impossible voyage of Noah's ark, Robert A Moore. Some mistakes of Moses, Robert Ingersoll. Once you break through the nonsense and lies which is the 'Christian bible' you will never be pulled back into that BS ever again. Once you no longer believe in Santa or the tooth fairy, you can never believe again. To conclude, at age 61, I'm still unsure if Christianity is the best influence on moral behavior in humans or not. I tend to think it is, despite all its flaws. And that turning away from it in your adult years is only for those rare few, who must keep questioning, searching. Atheism is IMO only for those rare few seeking the mysteries of life and the universe. It's the true hidden knowledge that only scholars eventually reach. And ultimately, nothing really matters. It's all the same in the end. Believer or not, it all ends the same. There's no reason to beat Christians or other believers over their heads with the truth. We all die and come to nothing eventually. So let them have their religion if they love it. No harm is done. Our special knowledge is only for those who must find it.

I've said that many times. If something is part of God's will, it's going to happen whether you pray for it or not so prayer is useless. I wish the lying, cheating, married man from my school days, who works in churches, married a divorced "believer", then deceitfully began a relationship with me would have had this epiphany when he was sixteen. I knew him then, but did not know he was being raised and indoctrinated in blind "faith" and fear. It shows, 40 years later. I think it ruined his life, it severely impacted mine. By the way, and maybe no one will be shocked, but he hid and diminished his "religious leanings" from day one of reconnecting. His current church position is in building/facilities, but his last one was "executive pastor" whatever the hell that even means! He knew I was, at least, indifferent, and not a believer. After almost two years, that "divorce" never happened, "godly wife" has known about me. Guess where she is? She and "god" have "forgiven" Rod, and guess who still has his church job? Yeah, they know about us, and how he abruptly discarded me after the second discovery of our relationship. He completely "cast me out." No one cares about his character. He just "fell off his path with christ." Yes, I'm very angry...it's bullshit and hypocrisy, and Judas, and a wolf in sheeps' clothing...I could keep going, but...

The word philosophy means to love knowledge and wisdom…interestingly enough most quote-on-quote philosophers contradict themselves. Knowledge is simply what you know, and wisdom is how you apply that which you know. Since this is true, most of the comment section don’t portray the love of truth, but love to twist it to fit their own ideas. The word sapphire comes from the word saphar, which means ‘to speak’, and the Word of God speaks for itself since it was the first word to originate any other words. So yes, God created the Evil One, Satan…but that doesn’t mean there isn’t good in this world, matter of fact it’s proof that good exists. Without truth there couldn’t be a lie, and without good there couldn’t be evil, and without light there couldn’t be dark! Love and blessings to all!

Good question, maybe, maybe not. Who knows. But one thing seems obvious to me: if you are in such a situation and invent a god, it will resemble some of the many thousands of gods mankind had over its history, but it won't match exactly. I mean, even the god in the bible is not consistent, let alone Christians with their various denominations. But according to some believers you will rot in hell because you didn't believe in the one, true god.

In as much I appreciate your refreshing attitude, I have to disagree with Matt on a big issue - Their Bible, the Christian Bible, is LOADED with contradictions, passages that contradict each other. Come on now - Man created this "God" with the personality of a sociopathic murderer, an alcoholic, a hypocrite, simply to name a few of the characteristics of the personality given to this "God" that man created. Here is but one of many contradictions. It comes from the ten commandments. Thou shalt not murder. Yet their God had no problem murdering during the flood in The story of Noah's ark, as well as murdering babies and animals in Exodus.
@chronicler23132 жыл бұрын
Your argument is God’s evil? Laughable. You can’t claim to be an atheist
@petesevern76382 жыл бұрын
@@chronicler2313 The Christian's "God" DOES exist, but in a limited form. Their God exist in their Bibles, and in other printed forms as well. Their God exists in their religious buildings of worship, it exists in their prayers and in their imaginations, and in "believer's" conversations with one another. Their God also exists when people use it in slang/derogatory use. And these are the only formats that their God exists. Now is there God evil? You tell me - what kind of personality floods a planet killing all the life, as well as murdering babies and animals in the book of Exodus? Is that evil? You tell me. Me thinks it's clearly obvious. One last example I'll borrow from modern day: Forest fires that are caused by lightning. (A natural act of God) Now how many innocent animals die every year for these kinds of forest fires? 🤔 And yet, their God allows this. 👎😑👎

Your usage of perfection doesn't make any sense. Perfect = Cannot be changed, altered, or modified. Something that is perfect is in a state of absolute completion. It is final, it's Done. Hmm...in other words, nothing is perfect. Anything could be said better, different words used, or things can always be modified. Perfection is unattainable. Also, nothing is ineffable.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I think a lot of us watch these Matt Dillahunty videos and cheer on Matt, even when he’s being disagreeable beyond belief, because more often than not it is a theist on the other side and he’s being very careful about the arguments, questions, and vocabulary at play to make sure he offers no contradictions nor ideological concessions. However, now having watched a few videos in which the caller is a fellow ATHEIST and who asks Matt a very good question, it is a massive shame to watch Matt be so incredibly disagreeable to the question itself just for the purpose of being disagreeable. It comes off extremely rude to me and as a new fellow atheist it makes me never want to ask questions to Matt or a speaker like him, knowing that he will flog me if he doesn’t think my question is 100% worthy. By doing this Matt discourages people like me from asking good, honest questions by being so rudely disagreeable.
