As of the sentinels update, I have moved the star seed / remembrance / oxygen rerouter from the Technology, into the General, in order to make space for 3 sentinel modules on Technology. If you add another 3 on General, you are left with 10 slots on General inventory. If you add 3x hazard modules of everything, you fill your General inventory exactly 48/48.

As of the Outlaws update, the Station (the second one shown in the video) to buy the Underwater Protection, Radiation Protection, and Life Support Systems has become an Outlaw System and no longer sells those Modules. They do now have some cool as Solar Ships with Spider body, Cresent sail, Grapple wings, and Tristar Wing tip.

It's mostly thanks to the environmental upgrade modules which, while charged, gives FLAT TIME based protection against the matching environment. carry around 20 ion batteries and you can walk around for about an hour. CD's setup is greatly minmaxed and i feel actually excessive in terms of environmental protection

@@chaon93 So far I only maxed out the cold protection to have some more "breathing time" on derelict freighters, cause without it I had to recharge every 5-10 seconds and it was getting really annoying, tho very much survival-like in a fun way :) Tho you kinda lose a lot of space if you max it out like Door did, it does give you a lot of protection on those extreme planets where all the juicy activated stuff is :D

Cargo slots are for cargo (especially on Surv/Perm) that said, I do use the first set-up I show in the vid. I personally think one of each is enough when you carry enough batteries! 😃

I think cargo is plenty of space and in Survival mode the extra shields are a must really IMO - the clip in the end is an Extreme storm with the first set-up, without it you're toast lol! 😬

This is a great video and this is the ideal setup if you are not concerned about inventory space. I personally do not double up life support modules because I get enough life support with a general inventory setup and life support gel is cheap and easy to get. I also tend to dumb down hazmat, using the shield lattice and one of each of the hazardous modules. Even on extreme planets, keeping the modules full with batteries is no problem and batteries are also cheap and plentiful. I do fully buff shields and the jetpack system. For underwater I use the aeration membrane to slow down losing oxygen a bit but you can eat the bulbs off kelp plants to replenish oxygen underwater. I do tend to use all four translators but it is not essential especially now that you can buy the manufacturing plant recipies in the anomaly with nanites.

Of course there is always room for personal preferences! And you're right about gel/batteries being easy to get, I tend to explore and not pay too much attention to how full my shields are, so for me it's nice to be extra buffed (though I do stick with the single specific shield set-up and not triple up on them - the one I show first). 😃

Great video, I would add though that you can have up to 3 S class underwater modules installed and you also get and adjacency bonus from them in my experience so might be worth moving it around slightly

Yes indeed! You can triple-up on all protection modules, so also the underwater ones! But I’d have to say I think it’s a bit of a waste of space personally, but I guess if you really spend a lot of time underwater it may be worth it!

I like maximizing my jetpack(3,3) and minimizing hazard protection(1S each, including oxygen) then just 3 shields and life support. With all the craftable upgrades, I find this more than enough to get by with a stack of ion batteries and life support gel in my cargo. After a play thru or two, you won't feel the need for translators at all. This leaves 14-18 extra slots free. Other than that, I loved the guide format. Looking forward to the next one!

Okay, so I got a ton of X class Hazard protection modules, just slap one under the radiation modules, the recharging radiation modules. And the recharging Hazard protection unit. With the one that has the best stats in the middle.

Seems like a good place to put the additional X-class tech! I since then placed my Personal Refiner under the Neural Stimulator and added the Atlas Pass to its previous location - found it nicer to have the refiner somewhere more convenient and easier to spot instead of between all tech. 😃

I like to keep the rest of the slots in my general mainly empty (with the exception of a portable refiner, save point and a signal booster), for things I collect. In my cargo I like to keep a stack of all most-common and most-used materials and of course some batteries and life support etc. I can make a screenshot if you'd like?

Keep a few main resources like life support, a ton of oxygen as it can be used to recharge life support. Also hold carbon, ferrite dust & chromatic metal . Leave the other slots blank so you can stock up on new resources as you move along systems . Every once in a while I warp back to my home base to place new resources in my storage containers, I have 9 of them at my base . Then I warp back to the system I was at before to keep continuing on whatever path I was on . I also use my Exocrafts for storage . Oh & don’t forget to save & reload the game at least once per hour or else your game will freeze from too much data being collected especially after warping through systems .

Hauler for base-building purposes is the way (especially on Survival). For your general containers I'd say it's a bit personal, but I like to have one for my harvestables in my base and one for food. And the rest I basically use for overflow or rare items I don't need to carry on me - but are handy to have. I noticed it's very easy to over-stock up on things: try to see what you really need and what could be bought/crafted when needed!

The thing is... with max upgrades you don't need any resources to recharge anything... I just deleted 3 slots worth of starship fuel as I use 8% and it recharges in seconds and my warp fuel is also untouched but going down slowly.

Thank you for the guide. i am around 70 hours into the game and i still dont find Rocket Boots module useful (double tap spacebar to boost). Am I using it incorrectly? I've seen all NMS youtubers have them installed but i don't really find a use for it

I think a lot of people have it for the additional adjacency boost. What I've personally noticed is that when you use it, you have more directional speed than when you don't (just like melee-jetpack basically).

Yeah that goes for the upgrades, so different kind of tech excluded. Max three per inventory space (so you can double-up using your general & tech). Hope it makes sense, if anything is unclear, let me know! Always happy to help a new player out!

The C-class modules add resistance, while the S-class modules are an ‘overshield’ sort to say. Stacking these will give you more shields that deplete one after the other, but don’t add any resistance themselves (of course they do via adjacency).

you do not really need to stack up that much. you can go for specific ones when harvesting storm crystals (storm crystals only appear during violent storms), choose the correct type to stack up for maximum protection

I don't know if its a Frontier's thing or not, but Shield Modules next to hazard protection or any other exosuit shield modules does not show adjacency bonus... in your video it does... all the elemental hazard modules do show the outline... any idea on this and why the shield modules do not seem to help ?

No clue at all, would say it's a Frontiers thing but I've just checked in my game and they do still show the adjacency. Do they also don't show anything when placed next to each other (so Shield + Shield)?

Figured it out.. opened a bug report for it.. so the thing is, the shield modules ONLY give adjacency bonus / highlight if they are touching another shield module. So say environmental haz/shield lattice at the top touching, you get bonus highlight, put one shield next to those.. nothing.. put one shield next to another shield at the bottom of your exosuit inventory for example, completely away from the env haz / shield modules, and they light up. put one shield on left, env. haz. / shield lattice and another shield on right.. no light. Appears although these are meant to increase the shield of env haz / shield lattice strength, each shield module has to touch another shield module.. not the standard adjacency bonus one would expect but glad i worked it out.

It's very weird because if it was shield + shield only (and hazard + hazard only), I would expect the adjacency outline to be another color (as it would be with all other tech). Plus it would make sense that additional shield strength, would also contribute to hazard protection? Ah well, at least you got it working now! Enjoy the set-up! 😃

You have your cargo slots for that, especially on Survival/Permadeath! This set-up also makes it almost impossible to die, also very handy on Permadeath! 😉

You can use the upgrader next to the Exosuit merchant aboard stations. Also don’t forget to summon the Anomaly in every system you visit as you can also unlock 1 slot there. Cargo are quite expansive though, so you might want to find some drop pods to reduce the costs (I have vids on all this if it’s unclear)!

It really does matter what technology you place your upgrades next to (you can try it out yourself, just make sure it's a 'visible stat' for your convenience). This set-up gave me best results in testing.

In combat not really as HG has a thing in place where the Sentinels get stronger when you are, for general survival: kinda, lol!
