Not sure if anyone has mentioned it already, and I'm not trying to be rude, but just to help: Mar del Plata is a city further south, but still in the Province of Buenos Aires. It's one of the most important summer destinations for tourists. What you can see here in the video is Río de la Plata (aka La Plata River, wich is actually a estuary).

We've spent a lot of times in cities during our travels too, and we definitely agree that getting back out to nature and smaller towns is such a breath of fresh air! It's funny to see you guys going through the same process we do every time we look at a menu here in South America: lots of Google Translate! Your food looked delicious by the way! I was saving dollars to make a trip to Argentina next year, but now I see that everything is so cheap, maybe I can travel by the end of this year. So excited. I think for overseas products is a different story, for example the Californian red souce at 15:50 here in Mexico is 4 times cheaper.
@TideKnotTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Yes overseas products are higher here too, but other than that many things are quite affordable even in the touristy areas in cities. The South of the country is more expensive though.

There's a lot of options for vegans and vegetarians in Buenos Aires if you don't restrict your tourist experience to the same few districts that cater to tourist: Puerto Madero, Recoleta, Palermo and San Telmo. Buenos Aires city it's much more than those districts and have lots of restaurants, coffee shops and markets that sell food and have menus with vegan and vegetarian foods

When you got to the exit of the Reserva Natural you missed walking north along the old coastal avenue (Costanera Sur) where there are many carts with traditional street food of Buenos Aires, mainly the famous "choripan" (spiced saussage in a sandwich), and sandwiches with grilled meat (bondiola (pork) or "lomito" (cow)). But may be the lady wouldn't like it so much, because there are all meat sandwiches. The pink dip sauce could be Salsa Golf (or better Salsa del Golf) which is a mixture of ketchup and mayonaise. The mate is very good to share. One person, the "cebador" is in charge of preparing the mate, water it, and give the mate to the next person. You don't say thank you when you receive the mate or when you return it to the cebador, that means that you won't take more. The "cebador" will remember and skip you the next time you should receive the mate. And you drink all the water of the mate. The mate must be returned without any water. Many people drink mate at breakfast, to relax sometime during the day. Students studying alone or in groups may drink mate. It's the cebador that decides when to change the yerba, because you may drink many mates with the same yerba in it, because the water remains little time between the cebador and the drinking. The water of mate must no boil and should be between 60 and 70 degrees Celsius.
@TideKnotTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the info we have been quite fascinated by Mate ever since we arrived and saw everyone drinking it everywhere! We will try some before we leave Argentina although we have been warned that we may not like the taste as it is quite strong and unique, still it is something we want to experience. The old coastal avenue sounds like something Craig would have loved but you're right not so much for me! ☺
