This is definitely an interesting topic. You’ve presented a very impressive array of foreign bands from all over the globe, some of which really peaks my curiosity. I don’t own a whole slew of foreign language albums but of the ones I do have, I can honestly say I don’t mind listening to them as long as the music holds my attention. And that’s definitely the case with both “ Zarathustra “ by Museo and the bizarre, self titled “ Grobschnitt “ album from’ 72. I also have the “ Os Mutantes “ self titled one in ‘68. Haven't seen all your videos but I would mention Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), Triumvirat, Banco & all the inceptions of Amon Duul (I & II). I'm sure you must have run across these bands in your searches. All magnificent artists & great musicians. PFM it's worth noting played a free concert in NYC at Central Park (Schaefer's Music Festival) in the 70s & their live album "Cook" was the result. What is never brought to the rock audience's attention is the enormous audience they attracted on that sunny day. Yeah, an Italian prog rock band gets attendance close to Simon & Garfunkel. Vangelis & Demis Roussous' Aphropdite's Child's album 666 is also a classic prog double album. You do a nice job in your videos.

@@IllumeEltanin- On 666 -- they hired Irene Papas to do this piece with the insignia of a woman. She goes into this female orgasm thing that is absolutely riveting. You couldn't possibly play it on the radio. But what possessed Ms. Papas to convincingly perform this so accurately? Demis does some excellent rock music too -- "Hic et nunc." He did it again on Vangelis' solo album "Earth," with the astonishing "Come On." Rock music missed out on these fabulous tunes. These guys were incredible for the era. And from Greece.

It is a bit tricky to find albums wholly in non-English languages, though, so this list is really cool to see! Might have to look into some more of these. And hey, even if only a song or two or even part of a song are in other languages, that's cool too! Great idea for a program ! Americans really love their lyrics, but sometimes you can miss some good music if you insist on English. I also listen to Mozart, and his choral works are either in Latin, German, or Italian. I just listen to the voices as IF they were another instrument. I'm surprised you didn't rank PFM, after expressing appreciation for their English language stuff. But you are right - their Italian language stuff is MUCH better. It has a much more natural "flow." It's harder to sing in a non-native language. It's also hard to squeeze someone else's lyrics into your rhythm and melody. Pete Sinfield's lyrics were never THAT great and Italian is well known as the best language for singing. (Better than Gaelic, anyway.) The three PFM albums *I* would recommend are: P.F.M. [Premiata Forneria Marconi] (First Street Bakery) - See how everything sounds better in Italian! 1) Storia di un Minuto [Stories of the Minute] 2) Per un Amico [For a Friend] - English language album is "Photos of Ghosts" 3) L'Isola di Niente [The Isle of Nothing] - English album is "The World became the World" "Per un Amico" is in my top five along with "The Lamb", "Close to the Edge" and "Foxtrot".

Los Jaivas were my #2 Spanish language act but I was doing one per language and I prefer the Bubu debut. By a hair!!! Machu Picchu is a masterpiece!!!

MDK is indeed the best-known Magma album. It is NOT the best Magma album, IMHO. At least three other are superior: Kohntarkosz (my clear #1, best in the Live '75 version, but studio version--while incomplete--has its charms), Theusz Haamtahk (only played live; no studio version; live versions on album all differ and all are exciting in different ways); Wurdah Itah (live versions better than the rushed, poorly recorded studio.) MDK is a wild ride, but excessively repetitive (fun fact: it started as a calypso piece!) MDK is actually the capstone of a trilogy starting with TH and WI, and includes the finest theme from the latter in one of its sections.

Thank you for your thoughts on Magma. I’m still trying to sort them out in my brain…
